most airlines require COVID test, I did mine at ikeja, 50k, pls do your COVID test, it’s not painful, just a tiny bit discomforting, they’d request for it before you board in Lagos and which ever country you’d be laying over.

I think you need to be checking. Usually what I did was that since i have a max of 4 times to {i guess}. you can check in the morning by 8 am, check by 12 noon, check by 6 pm and by 11.30 am. It was like a gamble that I kept rotating until luckily I found an available space. so I think it's your responsibility to keep checking. a lot of people are checking and you don't expect them to keep you in mind while they need the dates as you do. I also think during holidays in Nigeria and America, American Embassy won't schedule an interview. I wish you luck

Reason: Embassy will not be interviewing on December 11th.

I cried all night and still crying after being denied yesterday.

I totally tended up and blanked out.

Last night all my responses kept flowing in my head and sounded like I was muttering gibberish.

I feel so hopeless.

It was like someone else possessed my body as all I heard rehearsed flew out of my head.

I sent an email to my program director and her response brought more tears to my eyes.

She said she will keep the ission open all through next year, hoping I can them.

I am afraid to book another date and go through another heartbreak.

Please, don't feel so bad! how you you felt when you were called to give a presentation for the first time, that was how you appeared before the VO. Nothing is wrong with you. You can go again. Winners never quit and quitters never win

This appointment thing tire me. I summoned courage and cancel my Lagos appointment and try Abuja. I can’t see Dec/Jan dates again but March 15.

I tried to check available date with new profile without populating other 5 dependents and can still see January 6th .

My interview lasted about 10 minutes. Here we go:


The moment I entered the hall, I noticed that there were three VOs interviewing people at the counter, two females and one male. I realized immediately that the male was the guy who denied me last year and started praying that I should not come across him again. He had already denied about three to four persons right there in the hall. Unfortunately, I came across him again.

The moment I ed my port and i20 to him, he looked at me and said, "I denied you last year and sorry I cannot interview you this time." He then directed me to another VO, an elderly woman. I can't the window. Now the interview proper.

Me: Good morning ma

VO: Good morning, me your i-20 and port then place your hands on the scanner for the biometric capture.

Me: Okay ma. (I ed the documents to her and placed my hands on the scanner)

VO: Where are you going to?

Me: I am going to MSU, Starkvile, to pursue my PhD in Sociology with concentration in Criminology.

VO: I see. So, why this university?

Me: I settled for MSU because I was able to find a wonderful Prof. in the person of Professor XYZ who not only shares my research interest but believes in my abilities to excel at graduate school. For me, that's priceless. I also settled for MSU because the program is fully funded.

VO: I see that you've got full tuition waiver. Who's paying for the decifit?

Me: Please check ma, I do not have any deficit. The stipend from my assistantship covers my living expenses.

VO: Okay. Alright (kept typing into the system)

VO: What other school did you apply to?

Me: I also applied to Northeastern University, Boston, but I was not itted.

VO: Did you write GRE, if yes, your score? (I was asked this same question the last time by the male VO)

Me: 300

VO: Where do you work? (I asked the last time too)

Me:I work with XYZ, a Lagos based NGO

VO: Have you travelled out of the country before? (Was also asked the last time)

Me: No


VO: Sorry bla bla bla and hands me a green paper.
Me: (dumbfounded)

Why the school? Try and relate it to a particular career vision of yours. That should be the reason why you are interested in the professor's research!

So, can one cancel Lagos appointment and reschedule Abuja with the same MRV without having to pay new one, and you've not cancel or reschedule before?

Someone i know had similar experience last year. It appears to be an error on their system while creating the emergency appointment portal for you. You have to wait till the emergency appointment expires before you request for another emergency date.
You can also post to them for escalation from their end.

Yes, request after 3 days.

Does anyone apply for emergency request and approved, and the on logging in to reschedule the portal shows the message "your group size is larger than the current allocation". Please, who encountered this?

hello guys, my class starts on the 25th of january as stated on the i-20, however I am expected to resume two weeks to the beginning of class for documentation in the department which unofficially brings my date of arrival forward to 11th of january, do u think i should apply for emergency interview now or wait till the 25th to be in the 60days bracket. thank you.

please, don't risk losing the one chance emergency request. Wait until you are within 60 days to the start of your program stated on your I20.

Yes, I was in 60 days to the start of your program. Program start date is 28 Dec. I waited for 4days after sevis fee was confirmed before applying. ed all necessary documents also. The denied mail has no reason stated.

Did you allowed the DS160 to have been submitted at least 3 days before requesting for emergency?
