The goalkeeper quit the national team after a splintered relationship with Sunday Oliseh, but the German tactician wants him back to his fold Coach Gernot Rohr has expressed his desire to have Vincent Enyeama back in the Nigeria senior national team. Enyeama quit the Super Eagles following a fractured relationship with former coach, Sunday Oliseh on October 8, 2015, a feud which led to him been stripped of the captaincy. The 34-year-old has been in terrific form for OSC Lille and as a result, the tactician wants to bolster his goalkeeping department by recalling the 34-year-old. “I asked about Enyeama when I signed because I know his qualities,” Rohr told media ahead of Tanzania’s game. “I also spoke with the goalkeepers’ coach Alloy Agu and he spoke highly of him. I’ve called and spoken with Enyeama since my resumption but nothing is settled yet. “I will see him after the Tanzania game because I saw him play in and he’s the kind of player we need to help us move forward.”

Minister of Trade and Investment, Udo Udoma, and Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, reportedly expressed serious anxiety over the details of several of the agreements the Buhari planned on g with the UAE and almost got fired. The ministers counseled the president not to sign those deals because they felt that Nigeria gave away too much in of its bilateral economic interests in order to achieve President Buhari’s main goal recovering of stolen money and extradition of criminals hiding in the UAE.The sources disclosed that the president was not interested in his ministers’ arguments that the economic agreements between Nigeria and the UAE were weighted against Nigeria’s interests. “Mr. President was focused on doing whatever was necessary to repatriate stolen funds and extradite criminals hiding in the UAE,” said one source. He added: “He was so concerned about that sole issue that he became incensed about the warning from some of his team.” Buhari reportedly announced his readiness to relieve Mrs. Adeosun and Mr. Udoma of their responsibilities if they did not stop their opposition to the pacts.

According to PDP party sources who spoke to the nation, party chieftains are worried about the intentions of the governor despite the tough stance of chieftains during its national conference in Abuja last week. The source who is also a senator from the south-west told the Nation: “There is anxiety in the party over reports that two of our governors, not one, are currently negotiating their exit from the party. We are worried. Any serious party would be worried.” “This development was widely discussed amongst participants at the last conference in Abuja though we all agreed it should form part of our agenda for the meeting.” According to the nation, Gov Umahi’s relationship with the former secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), Pius Anyim Pius. While the governor from the North East was present at the national conference, Umahi was suspiciously absent. One of Umahi’s election directors in Afikpo, Azu Agboti, has already defected to the APC. Agboti once represented Ebonyi South Senatorial zone in the Upper Chambers. The source added: “Although it was not officially part of the agenda, the leadership of the party tasked chieftains on the need to remain in the PDP and shun all plots to decamp. And in various private discussions, the issue came up severally, giving indications that the party is really concerned over the reports. “There is no way we will succeed in re-branding and repositioning the party ahead of 2019 general elections, as was planned at the confab if at the end of the day, it turned out to be true that two of our remaining Governors have been plotting to ditch the party.” Meanwhile, the PDP has held secret talks with some of its former governors and other chieftains who defected to the APC. During the talks, of the PDP allegedly discussed how to rebrand and reposition the party ahead of the elections in 2019. Some of the negotiations took place abroad to avoid the eyes of security agencies.
