So Alberta has been let down again, and Notley threw a fit.

"In a dramatic announcement Thursday evening, Premier Rachel Notley said she is pulling Alberta out of the national climate-change plan to protest a federal court ruling that quashed expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline".

Big mess.

Thanks, but what does this mean for immigrants in/to Alberta?

That's what I tought... 6.5 trend in writing is so demoralizing. But I think proper preparation is the main thing here.

Can you give us the tips you used for writing?

I am not sure I can everything cos it's been a whole year now. But I tried to apply ieltsliz's tips. My introduction was to paraphrase the topic and then I added a sentence that hinted about my view e.g "I tend to agree with this statement".

I then added 2 or 3 paragraph explaining why I agreed with the statement in the topic. In each paragraph, I stated a new reason/point and I gave an example to the point stated.

My conclusion was to reinforce that I agree based on the reasons I have stated in the paragraphs.

Beyond the structure of the essay, you should pay attention to your spellings, punctuation, tenses, vocabulary, word count etc. Personally, I am a big fan of KISS (keep it short and simple). Use simple English, no need for big-big grammar especially if you are not completely certain about the literal and contextual meaning of a word. Plus pray and believe for the best.

I hope these tips help.

Is it possible to get an IELTS score like this? Who has gotten maximum score and what did you do extra?

Yes o! Very doable. My result was L 8.5, R 9, S 8 W7.5. first and only attempt. I had just 2 weeks to prepare for the exam and I prepped with ieltsliz only.

I think my years of monotonous drafting/reviewing hundreds of pages of documents/agreements daily finally counted for something other than my salary.

I am tempted to agree that it's like Nigerian ielts examiners deliberately mark Writing down (i.e 6.5) as many people on this forum also feel. Perhaps so that they can make more money from people re-writing.

In my ielts application, I indicated that I was writing for Australian immigration purposes. I needed all-round 8 to max out language score under Australian system. Alas! I got 7.5. Missing that elusive 0.5.

I was disheartened when I saw my ielts result, until someone encouraged me to explore Canada.

Moral of this epistle, over-achievable de worry am sef!

While I understand her issue, it a bit challenging. At original poster; can she use her 1year NYSC? Is she young enough to get ITA-friendly CRS without maxing out the three-year experience? This is where solution lies, I suggest she drops this her teaching experience. It is painful though.

Thanks. Will give her this option as well.

Thanks alot... but what if CIC has already confirmed my current balance from my bank and noticed that POF has reduced a little.

Then your CSE should show that it has been replenished. You should raise the CSE as soon as possible before your application gets canceled.

I think I understand what the problem is with most people who come here. They have a question, they also have a supposed answer and now wants someone to give them a response that confirms this "answer" so they can feel good.

I believe my questions were very clear, at least clear enough to show that whether she could claim that NOC was not an issue. My questions were (a) whether she is likely to be prejudiced if her reference letter is signed by her mom, and (b) how best to handle her not being paid a salary.

Besides, you will have fewer "face-plants" here if you tone down ur assuming and derogatory attitude.

You don't have to meet the “employment requirements” listed in the NOC occupational description.

The employment requirements for each NOC includes the required educational qualifications.

In essence, you can have a degree in fine art and show work experience as an investment banker!

I hope this puts the matter to rest!

Thank you very much for this. grin grin

Yes. But you still have to meet the criteria on whatever NOC you want to claim, in this case it's an education degree/qualification. Sorry for sounding judgemental.

That criteria is a criteria for you to secure a job in that NOC IN CANADA. My friend, as of now, has no intention to be a teacher in Canada. She wants to further her education as PR.

Exactly. And that isn't difficult to do, in fact it should be the first thing to do before spending money on IELTS and credential evaluation. But Nigerians being who we are want something "badly" but don't want to put in the required effort.
My suggestion is that she considers NYSC or any post-graduation experience (paid or unpaid) of at least one year long and check relevant NOC to see if she meets its requirements

Judge much? I never said she didn't check NOC. I said "I" couldn't the NOC. Thanks anyway.

She has no teaching qualification obviously and can therefore not claim points for experience as an elementary school teacher. The least of her problem is the method at which her salary is paid.

Thanks, but I think that it's been established here that your job experience doesn't necessarily have to relate to what you studied. By the way, the NOC in question is 4214- Early childhood educators and assistants. The lead statement matches her work experience.

so basically paid in cash ? can she collect salary going forward and run her for six months? option 1 pay in cash: option 2 run her . they r both doable. I don't think her mom g it is an issue sha. she needs evidence that she works there mayb pay slips might help in this case..

as for pof a simple gift deed would sort that out.

Thanks. 6 months is a long time though. She is ready to dive into the pool. Will explore the salary in cash option

Explain the "never really" and "take care of her financial need when necessary "

She doesn't collect monthly salary like other teachers in the school. However, her ielts for example, was paid for by her parents. Likewise her ECA. If she needs money for something, she can ask her parents and they give her what they can. Another example is her POF.

i too am a teacher and paid by hand but i would get all the necessary letters and co from my boss

Hello house, your advise is really needed for a friend. She is a primary school teacher and has been since 2014. Only thing is, the school is owned by her mom. Her teaching started out with her helping her mom after she graduated from uni. It was supposed to be something to keep her busy pending when she gets a "good" job. Good job still hasn't come.

She was never really paid salary cos she still lives with her parents and they take care of her financial needs when necessary. She has a BSC and masters degree but non of the fields are related to teaching.

She has taught in her moms school for over 3 years and wants to claim experience as elementary school teacher (can't the NOC exactly). Her POF will be 100% gift from her mom.

The question is what is the best way to prove her work experience considering that she has never collected a salary. Will it prejudice her if her mother (as the owner of the school) signs her reference letter?

You candid recommendations are welcome.

Biko, LVO graduands, at what stage do files get transferred to VOs (London, Accra, Ottawa, Sydney etc.)? Is it Ip1 or Ip2? My "small" research is appearing to suggest that all files are transferred to ottawa during IP1. If this is true, at what stage do some go to LVO for example?

Organisation Belushi, please help me with the details of the Unilag person that helped you. I can give up my email add for privacy sake

belushi7:

Pardon my late response.

I scanned all the required documents, Remita receipts, filled WES form (& those not requested - my certificates) into one single file and ed on the site. I also mentioned in the area provided for notes that I have ed all those documents. Pleaded with them to help include the copy of my certificates in the package to be sent to WES.

For the timeline, you need an insider. The I was given was just a fraud. The guy asked for 5k/candidate and said it will take 3 weeks for it to be sent compared to normal 6weeks. I paid and almost didn't get the service promised. We were evaluating for three people and he only did one by the 3rd week. My wife had to visit UNILAG when dude stopped picking calls. We later met other people in the transcript office that had more influence and they were the ones that really finally helped us out. Even during the verification request sent by WES. So it took 3 weeks from ing on their site to getting DHL tracking IDs for sending to WES.
