It is fine As long as COS was submitted before the change in minimum wage in April. It is understandable that the rate will change upon commencement of contract. You may the company providing the COS to get clarifications on new pay rate and how it affects you 1 Like |

Statutorily, your hourly rate should match the Uk minimum wage so it is highly likely that the rate will be increased. It is an offence for the company not to pay the statutory wage unless you are underage |

Okay so I see people advising 1. Travelling out: 1.2m is probably 20% of what she needs to travel with....if she wants a good life overseas. Forget Dubai, or whatever people are advising. 2. Cryptocurrency: Okay maybe, but it is a volatile business and when she loses 1.2m she is back to square 1, my advise....not a feasible business for someone like her 3. Trading: May also be option but what are her views regarding it, is she a natural sales person. Nice option but depends on her drive. 4. Restaurant: Very good business but a lot needs to be put into consideration, location is the major problem here, now that food is expensive, she may end up complaining afterwards. Good business if planned properly. My Advise Learn a skill, an in demand skill but do not take from the money, or maybe use the 200k but ensure you have a minimum of 1m left in fixed deposit somewhere. Forget those money doubling avenues please, not even Cryptocurrency, your 1m today may be 500k tomorrow, not with this kind of money please. Fixed deposit is very small but your money is safer in the bank yielding the 2kobo. Her first test will be to ignore other money doubling avenue and remain focus on her skill. You did well giving her that money and God bless you. 7 Likes |

@OP Nice collection and good detail, also a lover of dogs here although I own none, my wife dislikes pets with ion so I wouldn't own any. If I were to own any, a Retriever for their companionship and a German Shepherd or Dutch Shepherd for their Vigilance would do. The Ekuke I think is a breed called Mongrel, they are products of continous cross of different breeds of dogs, hence, why they are called Mongrels as they are of no definite breed. Thumbs up |

Thank you sir for this comment OP, i am not here to advise you but to caution you, thread softly bro, fake agents will tell you this and that to get that money from you, you'll be left with nothing at the end. Dubai for me would be a bad choice...dont ask me why, rather make enquiries and speak people who actually lives and works there. Education is the best way to japa...ask anybody, consider countries that grants post study visa after school. effort1: 9 Likes |

I never said all jobs pay the same and if you live in UK, you'll get the drift.....truly The essence of that writeup is not to emphasize the amount you get paid but rather to shed light on how expensive it can be be living in the UK considering the amount of deductions. Its basically like working for the Govt, but hey they dont complain because as Nigerians, we are taught to be contented as long as we get it....well maybe subconsciously. Have you ever wondered why you hardly find the Whites doing this menial jobs, only a microscopic few would. Prove me wrong vannie21: |

Minimum wage is 8.91 Standard hrs/week (37.5 x 4wks) = £1336/month Cheapest accommodation you'll get in London (not council flat) = £800/month (You may get cheaper if you are lucky to find shared accommodation) Other bills left to pay = Council tax, telephone bill, water, electricity, TV license, maybe credit card, feeding, transportation What do you all think would remain after taking out those bills MONTHLY. Yes opportunities abound in UK but most people overseas would rather live in Nigeria if only they had such or even a slightly lesser opportunities. There is a saying in the UK that "Everything you earn has a way of going back to the Govt" Ohhh by the way, I did not factor in 25% tax and national insurance which has to be deducted from your salary monthly 1 Like |

where did you get your figures from, £450 a month where, and are you telling me thats all ![]() here: |

You are missing the point, truly they can afford it but what remains after taking out the bills is nothing to write home about, in order to correct this, they settle for less and try as much as possible to cut down on expenses. Now this isnt a problem, the problem is the fact that Nigerians always think the land is totally green and they ultimately pluck dollars or pounds on the tree, they ask and ask whereas in the real sense, you lots live way better. These people do the most menial jobs just to make the little they make. anthonyuncle: 2 Likes 1 Share |
