I’m not discussing what is legal or illegal, I’m discussing the chances of the opposition in 2027. The Northern politicians know the agreement to do one term is not binding so they will only a southern politician half heartedly. They will someone they are sure won’t win. Also coalition or no coalition, the person on the ballot matters. Atiku would never have defeated GEJ in 2014 if the APC gave him the ticket.

No Southern candidate can defeat Tinubu in an election. GEJ isn’t popular outside of power. 70% of Atiku’s vote will go to Tinubu in a Tinubu vs Obi contest.
