I agree!! The most beautiful Nigerian ladies are still back home. I would even add that the "well behaved" are still back home. But, Nigerian ladies makes things so difficult.
Before I traveled, I tried to at least, establish a serious relationship with this lady. I didn't tell her I was processing my travel plans. She kept on rebuffing my shots. Now, she's interested for obvious reason.
When I see guys on Twitter talk about getting a foreign woman, I just smile and assume they haven't traveled yet. It's not so straightforward. The first lady that had a crush on me here was an Indian. But she's Hindu, and has a very traditional family. It's not so straightforward as people make it to seem.
I would prefer a Nigerian, but my options are wide open. My high school female friend is getting married to a Naija guy based in Nova Scotia, so guys are still going back home even though the visa processing wait time worries me.
For me, right now, I'm friends with a Nigerian young lady on Asylum. We are from different tribes and I guess it's a reason she isn't too keen yet, coupled with difference in economic stability because she's working and I'm not. But I don't want my choice to be forced because of constraints around me.
For the South Asians, it's easier for them because they don't do the mental gymnastics we do when falling in love. I have so many Indian course mates who are hoping to bring their bfs and husbands over.

Hehe... walking on egg shells here.
Most migrants initially focus on work with little or no social life. It doesn't help that the way we socialise back home is very different to how it is here. To many who have moved under 2yrs- life is work, home, grocery store and church on repeat. Some have been here for years and do not drive even though they live in semi-urban areas.
Things are changing as numbers increase and the effect is felt. Ultimately, we tend to get married within ourselves as does any other culture. We no dey also reason 'partnership' (i.e longterm unmarried cohabitation) as many oyibos do.
I know a few nurses who now return home to 'import' able and humble husbands.
For medics, its worse. The more advanced they get in their career, the more difficult. They aren't just protecting their 'PR' but also wealth they've began to build. The few single male colleagues would be seeking someone younger and many equally aged migrants outside the profession would earn comparatively much less. A lady in her early 30's earning good money who owns her own home wouldn't be keen on settling with a new student who is hustling 20hr minimum wage jobs. Blokes too are also on the receiving end. But typically, once things settle, it becomes easier.
What is the best option for we who are not PR holders yet, even struggling to maintain a 20hr job, and approaching our mid-thirties?

I recently relocated to Calgary and am searching for a good school for my children. Based on , I’ve heard that public schools may not be the best fit for my family, so I decided to explore Catholic schools instead.
I applied through the Calgary Catholic School Board and selected a school within my district. However, I received a call from the principal informing me that my son would not be accepted because we are not Catholic. This was quite disappointing, especially since private school tuition is quite expensive.
It seems that Catholic schools require a baptism certificate for either my children or myself. Has anyone navigated a similar situation? What options are available for non-Catholic families seeking ission?
I currently attend a Pentecostal church but am considering ing the Catholic Church, though I understand the process takes time. I also learned that for a child’s baptism, the parents must have godparents and be baptized in the Catholic faith.
I’d appreciate any advice from those familiar with the system. Thank you!
Do you want to the catholic church out of your sincere conviction or because of your kids education?

nothing wrong in trusting your woman, i have my husband's money, access to all his bank details, pin, shares details, land documents,so whats all these comments about trusting a lady, should he trust you?
You're his wife. Even at that, there are limits (depending on the character of the individual).
No. He has a family. She has a very poor character because if she's no longer interested in the relationship, she is supposed to hand everything over.

I really feel for you, but I'm surprised you trusted so much to put your savings with a lady.
Even if she was your wife, in a LDR, that's very risky. The best option is to involve her parents asap!
If that doesn't work, then "all hell should be let loose"
Please, learn from this going forward.

Alright
Now that you are on the topic
Let's "go there"
First of all, I am an Igbo person, but that will not demagnetise my objectivity on the subject matter
I don't personally feel offended when people say some Igbos sell fake products for example, because the truth is that indeed, SOME IGBO PEOPLE SELL FAKE PRODUCTS
Anyone who is more careful in buying certain products from some igbo stores because of what some of my people have done is very much justified
That's one
When ppl say some igbos can be haughty, that's true because indeed, some igbos ARE HAUGHTY
But what is very stupid is saying igbo people set Nigeria back because they "killed" ethnic (btw useless) leaders in the 1966 coup
That action was a black Swan event, and people acting out of their own volition
It's common sense
Igbo people did not send them to go commit those crimes
So again, erring on the side of caution IS ALLOWED
That evolutionary trait has stuck with us, and that's the reason why we are all still alive today and not extinct
Going back to the Indians, and "pajeets" in their midst
Using Chris Rocks like with reference to black folks
"I like black people,; but I hate neeegggas"
I'll steal that one and say
I like Indian people (that are sensible) but HATE pajeets (hate is a strong word, lemme modify, I'll rather NOT deal with them)
It was a fuuuxking "pajeet" who screamed at soneone to "go back to morroco" in the train just last week
it was a pajeet I almost beat up in Manchester four weeks ago for running his damn mouth
But it is respectable Indian people who taught me at uni for my degrees et al.
So u wanted to hear my mind ?
That's it up there
P.S.
If you noticed
I didn't call you names when you raised your point about igbos like how CsRockerfeller did...
Because unlike him, I can understand why some people may have certain viewpoints about certain people, even igbo people
Personally i have NEVER met a good Somalian in my life, doesn't mean they are not out there, but my experiences with them repeatedly have formed my worldview of, and how to engage / deal with them
That old fool is a mad man! Let's assume Igbos sent Kaduna and his boys to start a war, which tribe/tribes has been at the helm of affairs since 1970?
He's an slowpoke.

I have heard on Nairaland and Twitter how they are the problem with Nigeria- how they killed 'good' Nigerian leaders in a coup, how they only sell fake goods, how they only do drugs, how they only engage in pr0stitvtion, how landlords don't want to rent to them, how 'shinedu' should never be allowed to aspire for any political position outside the East, how they are the ones supplying bokoharam drugs and guns, how they only cheat in exams, how the north got tired of them resulting in many riots over time where thousands of them were killed, how anyone of them who is rich is usually engaged in fraud, how any of them should never be allowed to be the Nigerian president, how violence should be meted out to any who dares come out to vote outside their region. Infact some have advocated or gone on to kill when a wanted political candidate didn't win. Even the wife if the current president had something negative to say about them
Igbos have been receiving it heavily on Twitter - if you have not experienced their attitude, then its either you are one of them or have not met them.
You're a big fool. If you are above 40, then you're a bigger fool. Your family and generation are all FOOLS!!

Until the lions have their historians, tales of the hunt shall always glorify the hunter.
True- we need to get into the right places and build wealth, open/run businesses, become landlords (controversial, but needed), restaurant chains, franchises, investment banking e.t.c. People might not like you, but they'd respect your cash. For example, despite having a good diasporean community, there are not many Nigerian restaurants abroad. Talk more of exquisite ones- i.e places where you could book a dinner and take workplace colleagues to experience top- notch Nigerian cuisine. Even in England, you'd hardly find a Nigerian restaurants where other top ones are located.
It takes time and we need the critical mass but we also need to be ploughing in the right direction.
We need this urgently, this rat race won't help us a group.

The average Canadian is also not that interested in marriage like in Nigeria. As a guy who is a student or on PGWP work permit wey never balance well how may Nigerian babes with PR or citizenship go look your side 😂
True. But I'm particular about the black Canadians, haven't seen any yet.

If things were as smooth as they are claiming while would anyone stop schooling after paying such huge amount of money and decide to seek assylum.
It's hell here in Canada especially in Ontario.
Nothing is working out in this dead country anymore.
If you need thorough truths about reality check on ground in Canada you should go to nairaland, all these ones here on nairaland only enjoy deceiving people with lame pictures of infrastructures like timid villagers so people would think they are living the dream abroad lifestyle.
Papers papers papers bla bla bla, people are not moving abroad for any goddammit papers, Nigeria is the poverty capital of the world most people traveling are going there to find money and take care of their family.
Does Asylum guarantee PR or citizenship? Met a Nigerian lady who I think took that route but she is reluctant to fill me in. She initially came last year for studies but currently not in school, but she's working and doesn't seem worried.

What's the x factor in getting a job here in Canada? Skills/Courses? Education/Degrees? Experience?
It's tough being an international student here. I'm likely to get a remote job from Nigeria than getting a physical job here in Ontario.
Even menial jobs aren't available, or am I doing something wrong?

Not all jobs require a driver’s license.
If a job does require a driver’s license, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to own a car. Heard some companies provide work vehicles.
Additionally, owning a car is not a requirement to obtain a driver’s license.
Thank you

Seems all jobs here require at least a Drivers License G. How do I go about it?
The info I'm seeing online is too ambiguous. I have a drivers license from Nigeria but due to expire in October this year. Do I also need to have a personal car to acquire this license?
Thanks.

Please, how do I apply for jobs asides the conventional job sites like Indeed and LinkedIn. I'm a Digital Marketing professional but I'm open to basic jobs because I'm here on studies.
Thank you.

Wow!! Nice to . Read a few pages and I love the contributions from one particular handle (can't your handle right now).
I have so many questions. So many questions. And so many questions. However, I'll start with the ones important to my survival.
I've been on this journey for some time (3 years). Initially planned it with a lady I met here on NL, before she had other plans. I'm a student, though in my early 30s, but that's not a bother.
First question - How easy is it to get a citizenship by marriage? In order words, are the indigenes (Blacks and White) open to relationships with Nigerians? I pray God shouldn't bring a Nigerian lady near me ever!!
Secondly, I'm into Tech/I.T and I'm also very physical (strength dey body to do physical work), I drive too by the way. I'm aware I can't work more than 24hrs a week, does that include those sides gigs and online jobs?
Nice to be part of this community. By God's grace, I'd be in Niagara soon.

Alright. Thanks for the heads up!
affoncad:
I advise you to start looking for ways to fund your education because depending solely on working in Canada to pay your tuition fees is nearly impossible. Many international students are stressed and depressed due to financial difficulties. Regarding marriage, please forget the mentality of marrying a woman just to get documents—it is very different in Canada, and it may even land you in trouble. Canada is not like the USA. Focus on your study route and start planning for a possible PR route after you finish your studies because Canada is changing fast. Even citizens and residents are facing challenges. The government will do everything it takes to reduce immigration as the election approaches!
