Someone to please tell me what to do. Ive scheduled an appointment with my initial ds160 form that was submitted. But later found some mistakes which prompted me to fill another form and submitted. Is there anyway I can update the new ds160 confirmation number without affecting my appointment date?

On this page (476), these issues were addressed. Don't let me type what I have in mind.

Ah I see. thank you.

Any ideas if my earlier appointment date will still be valid?

Your appointment won't change. Simply print a new appointment confirmation when you replace the DS160 confirmation number.

Thank you for responding. I just realised it has been more than 30 days since I filled the form and I did not submit.
Kindly advise what I should do cos I already picked an appointment date for Thursday next week.

The only choice left is to fill another form and update the DS160 confirmation number, in the profile section of the appointment portal.

Hello, I am trying to retrieve my application, however, its showing no matching data found.
Has anyone experienced something similar and how did they go about this?
Thanks.

You obviously didn't state the correct information, except if you did not complete and submit the DS160 form within 30 days (hope I got the number of days right).
Last time I retrieved a DS160 form, I could recall stating the DS 160 confirmation number. And thereafter, the system requested for the first five letters of my surname, year of birth and answer to my security question.

Good evening Everyone. please my friend is a computer scientist and he wants to attend a conference in the united states in September related to his field of profession which will be sponsored by his employer. please can anyone help me get a free conference of his field or link me to a group or website where I can search for conference to give to him. please Any help will be highly appreciated.

He wants a free conference yet his employers are sponsoring. Interestingly, he already has a date for the unknown conference.

Credible employers have HR Units that carry out this function.

Pls did you fill that you know anyone in US or you don't?

The question is not about knowing anyone but relatives in US. Relatives are blood relations or adopted such as Parents, Siblings, Uncles & Aunties, Nephews & Nieces.

There is hardly any Nigerian that doesn't know someone in USA.

Here are excerpts from the excommunication notice, issued to parishioners on August 12, the Catholic Bishop of Uyo Diocese, John Ayah said;

"I advise that no Catholic member should approach him to obtain any service or guidance henceforth in the name of the Church,” the bishop said.

"Any Catholic who attends his programme or identifies with him in any way does so at the risk of his or her Catholic faith and hip,” he said.

If the gentleman himself said he was leaving the Catholic Church because he does not agree with catholic doctrines again, then it is obvious that he is no longer capable to guide Catholics on issues of catholic faith.

Exactly what the church said.

Most of us have comprehension challenge.

America America America... please if you don't have funding or big money to cover you for at least the first one year. Save yourself the suffer and work some more to rake up money cuz the struggle is real out here!!!

Please tell them.

I won't even encourage someone that is not sure of funding after the first year, to travel to USA. Rather, he should go to a private university in Nigeria.

@LadyGuinivere @abujaniv

hello
thanks for helping us out.
I submitted our family ds-160 online form about 10 days back and our interview is set for 11 Sept in Abuja, then I realised I filled the wrong city for hubby's city of birth.
its not the one on his port, pls guide me what should I do?

and do I need to take my bank statement and proof of tie too even though its a family vacation and hubby is doing all the payment?

thank you

LadyGuinivere:

Every error in a DS 160 is treated the same way. Fill a new form and write to the embassy to swap the forms. Read the first page of this thread. It's stated there.

Statements are not asked for at the US visa interviews. If you want to carry, do so. However it will be a waste of your money

In specific, retrieve the DS 160 form and create a new application. Simply correct the error(s) on the newly created DS 160 form and submit, then go to profile section of the appointment portal and replace the old DS160 form number with the new one. Thereafter, print a new confirmation of appointment paper.

I do not think any VO would ask a self employed person such question. Rather they would be more interested in his business income, amount of income tax paid etc.

Or more likely they are checking the applicants credibility. Renowned institutions have a specific format for their staff emails. Take for example where I worked before
First name. [email protected]
I have seen [email protected]
This is a trick question. On the spur. If it's real the answer just rolls off the tongue.

Yeah, I agree absolutely.

Working in renowned institutions enhances applicants' chances.

Was scheduled for 10. Got there at 8:45. Was interview at window 5 (or 4 sha) a slim Asian-looking guy. Dude has been rejecting applications before it got to my turn.
Interview goes thus;

VO: how are u
Me: I'm fine (was nervous)
VO: why are u going to the US
Me: going for a two-day training at Schaumburg
VO: oh I see, Illinois rite?
Me: yh
VO: what's the training about
Me: .......
VO: who's funding this
Me: my employer
VO: where do you work
Me:...bank
VO: is it a newly introduced Prog. In ur organization
Me: no, it's been on since march
VO: can I have docs related to the training
Me: I'm sorry I don't have any here, the docs are with the unit that handles travelling. I only hav introduction letter from my employer
VO: ok
(At this stage, I thought I had lost it)
VO: what's ur office mail
Me: ....
(He nodded his head)
VO: I see you are married
Me: yh
VO: you have a child?
Me: yh, a daughter
VO: What course did you study?
Me: economics
VO: where
Me: babcock
VO: can u tell the difference btw micro and macro economics
Me: .......
VO: tell me issues relating to micro and macro economics, one each
Me: .....answered
VO typed for a minute
VO: pick up ur visa after 3 days at....
Me: thanks

Bolded
This is the second script, I am seeing this question in two weeks.

My sense is that this is a way VOs now assess the credibility of employers. It's most likely that if your company's email address is [email protected] or [email protected] (or any of those free email domains), you may be refused visa because companies using free emails addresses, are not regarded as serious organisations.

My interview goes

Vo- Good morning
Me- Good morning
Vo- you going for vacation
Me- Yes
Vo- where in the us are you going
Me- New York
Vo- do you know anybody there
Me- no
Vo- Have you travelled out of the country
Me- Yes,I told him during my last leave holiday I travelled to South Africa, Kenya
Vo- Where do you work
Me- told him where I work and my job position
Vo- how much do you earn in a month
Me- 345504 NGN
Vo- how long have you been saving for this trip
Me- since beginning of the year
Vo- how long have you been working
Me- 4 years
Vo- walk me through what you do when you resume at your place of work
Me- explained to him what I do at my place of work
The next thing he hands me the blue paper saying on the paper explained why I do not qualify for a visa at this time.
Could someone explain to me where I got it wrong

You didn't answer the last question, and I think that is where you lost it. I have a feeling that he/she wanted to reassure himself/herself that this dude would come back to his work. You missed the opportunity to give that assurance.

Your script is similar to someone I know, almost same salary but she did her masters in UK.

Her response to that question was something like...... When I resume, the first thing is to read the debriefing memo written by my colleague that would handle my duties in my absence, and thereafter ......

Before she could finish her statement, the white paper was brought out by the VO.

Goodluck bro.
But my question now is this, what exactly are they looking for in your phone. Is it part of the checking too? And what will happen if they find something funny? Thank you

The US Border Agents have the legal authority to conduct searches (including searching phones and laptops) at the United States border that a police officer on the street wouldn’t.

If they find "something funny", they would either laugh if off and let the person in, make an arrest or refuse entry. So it depends on what the "something funny" is.

If they find a chat on the phone discussing how to work in US or your credentials in one's bag, be sure that person would be refused entry.

Good day sir/ma. Pls I have been having challenges g and submitting my DS-160 form for myself and my son. Respond I get each time I click on the sign and submit is that "port number enter does not match previously entered. I have crossed check zillion times. port number is correct but I keep getting same respond each time I tried submitting. Pls what shall I do?

I guess you're referring to the signature page where you are to enter your port number as signature. If the system says incorrect port number, then there is no doubt that the number is incorrect.

Firstly, you said DS160 form for yourself and son. I hope these are two separate forms, if not you have to complete two separate forms.

Secondly, check if your port number includes zero (0) and be sure you didn't state letter "O" instead.

Thirdly, check for transpositional error like stating "918" as "981".

Travelling to the us for the first time wit a visit visa, do i need a round trip airline ticket or only a one way trip airline ticket

You need a round trip ticket, besides no airline would allow you to board with a one-way ticket (except immigrants and students on F1 visa) and it's also not economical.

Do I really owe you an explanation to that? I asked for advice with regards to what my friend advised I do and you are questioning the funding of my programmes. Na u wan fund am for me? If u must knw I'm an independent freak and the banking sector didn't encourage my programmes which was why I pulled out. I expressed my worries of being fully dependent on my parents he advised I move that there are opportunities to work and study unlike here in Nigeria. Iv written my 200level 2nd semester exams in rivers state university awaiting next session 300level and I've been idle. Iv applied for jobs to get busy to no avail. My concerns are on my chances of getting ission either as an undergraduate for nursing or post graduate for ing and still work over there and u here typing trash.U obviously dnt hv any positive input to this so stay off the thread!

Apologies!

I am a rivers indegene and have my school fees intact, I was advised to use it to process going to the usa. I also have sponsors but I need where I can wrk and study so my sponsors (being my parents) won't bear the whole burden as I have younger ones too. I need advice on the right decision to make with regards to going to the usa with hope of wrk and study or stay in Nigeria and complete my studies. My friend advised opportunities of working over there with what I have is better than Nigeria

Bolded above
Not quite sure what you meant by process going to USA. Hope it's not this agency stuff?

In your initial post you said Iv exhausted the little funds i saved up for my programmes and my friend in Houston advised I apply for transcript and come to the usa as a post graduate student.. My comments were based on that premise.

I wish you the best.

Good day, please I need advice on how to apply for visa to the USA. I am 26years old and have HND lower credit 2.88 in ing from a federal polytechnic,I just rounded up my course work in PGDE in NOUN with 3.87 cgp (writing project now) and also will be in 300 level bsc ing regular programme in rivers state university by October. I intended studying nursing whenever I leave Nigeria so i sat for waec this year for sciences and made all papers (results released last month). I have 7 years banking experience with different banks but resigned from firstbank as contract staff in January 2017 to run my bsc programme. All these are plan b for greener pastures. Iv exhausted the little funds i saved up for my programmes and my friend in Houston advised I apply for transcript and come to the usa as a post graduate student. All I desire is a favourable environment to enable me work and study but haven't gotten any other job. I want to know my chances of getting ission in the USA as undergraduate for nursing or if to go as post graduate with my hnd ing. I've always desired to go to the USA but with all these I'm kinda confused. Please someone should advice me. Thanks

If you can't fund your education here in Nigeria, I don't see how you'll be able to fund US education.

Thank you so so much...I appreciate!

Lastly, there is a section at last page which ask "if you fill the form yourself" I think the agent puts my name as the person that fills it.

I hope they will believe me when I state in the form that the person who assisted in filling the form made a mistake..... (I'm just thinking like, they might think his name should be there as the agent who filled it)

Pls reply.

Sorry for my wahala

Cheers

It is not strange for Agents to state that no assistance was given in completing the form. Even if it was stated that someone assisted you in filling the form, the responsibility is still yours.

So for me, the most important thing is that you have itted some mistakes were made in an earlier form.

Like everyone have said here, the VO is likely not to be too harsh with you because of your travel history. What travel history does is to the postulation that you did not intend to obtain undue advantage with those mistakes.

Thank you so much. I really do appreciate your contribution.

All contribution makes sense to me now. Do you think I should just state in the form while explaining that the person that helped me fill the form made a mistake or i should explain in details all the false information in the previous application/form?

Again, thanks and God bless!!

Go through my post again, I think I have answered your question. On the form, if I were you, I'll simply state that the person that assisted me to fill the form made some mistakes. And wait for the VO to ask me for specifics during interview, if interested.

Long Post Alert; Here goes my travel and POE transcript so far; Left on August 12,

I arrived at MMIA airport quite early accompanied by my loved ones..........

I was approached by an elderly Guinean lady, who only speaks French, She asked me if I speak French but I told her I only speak English and some Arabic. She wanted to borrow my phone to call her son but MTN network wasn’t even roaming. While I was searching for someone to borrow her a phone, an African American lady seem to sense our need and offered me her phone. We were together until her son came about an hour later to pick her. She was so grateful.(What a gracious woman!!!, the kind of African mother everyone can relate to).

I am currently in JFK trying to kill some time before taking Airporter to La Guardia airport for my connecting flight to Dallas. I have actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would. I don waka around all of terminal four (4) and would have taken a full tour of JFK on the airtrain, if not that I am not ready to pay $16 dollars for baggage storage. More gists later.

You should start going to La Guardia airport now.
