Hello guys, I finally got my PPR, I have been a silent observer of this wonderful forum, I have been actively following the thread since 2020 but at that time I didn’t have enough resources to follow through with the study visa application.

In 2022, I applied to the University of Calgary to pursue a master's degree in software engineering, Unfortunately, I didn’t get picked because of my first degree, you need to have some prerequisite courses which I didn’t have because I studied petroleum engineering but I got offered a master in geomatics engineering which to me was a win-win since I didn’t want my 120 CAD (application fee to waste).

Fast forward to this year I was already considering the United Kingdom because my letter acceptance didn’t come fast but as God will have it I didn’t get my ission on time event at the moment I typed this message I still haven’t received ission to both schools. Calgary did not get back to me with my letter of acceptance until May 2023.

After I received my ission letter, I also got a message that my acceptance fee of 500 CAD must be paid on or before 30 days of receiving the notification. I paid the fee and that was the only money I paid for school, no first-semester fee, or full tuition deposit. I planned out the document I was going to submit and I knew the part to work on was my home ties to Nigeria since I am not married.

I am a first-time applicant.

To anyone reading this and expecting their PPR, yours is next IJN. I also want to mention I have no travel experience in fact I was denied America Visa last year which I also stated in my application. There is no same application just find a way to say your truth and provide all the basic funds.

I earn over 4kusd monthly and I’ve been saving my remote earnings in Payoneer due to the rate at which the naira is depreciating. I’ve paid my full year tuition (it’s a 1 year program) and I’ve saved over 30k usd.

I am trying to move my funds to my naira for proof of funds. The thing is if I move my COL and miscellaneous from Payoneer to my naira as a lump sum and I explain with proof will it be a problem since my naira doesn’t have much inflows due to my usd savings in Payoneer?

Also moving my converting my funds from Payoneer to Naira directly will make me lose some value due to the rate of Payoneer currently is about 769 naira to a dollar.

I don’t know if I can move it from Payoneer to another (Geegpay) cos the rate is about 801 naira to a dollar? If I do, Geegpay limits payments to 1 million naira a day. If I move 1m every day for say 15 days and I explain to the VO can this fly?

I don’t know which option to go for.

Hi Chris,

5m will not be enough to study in Canada. The cost analysis will start with the cost of tuition for the course you want to study and the duration of the course. You then have to add the cost of living and flight tickets.
With your qualification, it will be best you look for courses offered by colleges in provinces that do not have high cost of living.

That doesn't even cover your maintenance funds

There's no Uni with fees of £5000

It might be worth saving more or perhaps checking other affordable countries.

No single email at all and I made sure I gave them sufficient information.

I provided everything you stated above. Gave them my current residency care for verification.

I ed the E- visa I used to travel before and I just graduated last December.

On the POF I dropped extra 4m extra to cover up running costs.

I used 2 different bank statement too.

Had my TB-TEST abroad before coming back for my family to take theirs at qlife.

Reason for refusal: ‘I am not satisfied that you will leave Canada at the end of your stay, based on personal assets and financial assets’

I cried my eyes out & almost lost all hope, called my agent to ask for a way forward and if I should stop attending classes & defer the remaining semesters. The thought of the time, energy & money spent made the tears roll out well �

P.s- I had resumed classes online (started January, 2022),it hasn’t been a funny situation especially with the time difference & economy issues but I thank God & I am currently in my second semester in centennial college. It’s a 2years program.


*Back to my timeline gist*
After careful review of my previous application, it was spotted that my Dad’s (my sponsor) had an explained lump sum of about 13m that entered at once. So we knew where to tackle while waiting for my GCMS notes.

Things I did differently;
Gave a detailed LOE of the lump sum
Printed a new bank statement, this time the opening balance covered the lump sum with more inflow compared to the last statement
I paid my full tuition for the first year
Got a notarized gift of deed of 5m in my personal
Submitted my first semester Academic transcript
Added a lot of Prayers too (very important)


Second Application:
Submitted April 10, 2022
Eligibility review started: May 11, 2022
PPR: June 1st, 2022

I have also booked for a new Medicals since the previous one has expired to avoid immigration stories/wahala, I was surprised I didn’t get a medical request with my second application.

The feeling has been surreal, patiently waiting for my port because I don’t even know where to start from, suggestions will be appreciated. �

Please I'll appreciate if someone can help me with an answer. I just got my PPR and in the letter, ircc said they cannot issue visa for a date beyond the expiry of my port. My port will expire in April 2022 and this date will fall short of the one year I'll ordinarily be entitled to for my visa.

Please will the date on my port will affect anything since it will expire before my program ends? On the contrary, is it a good idea to apply for a new one (considering the fact that I have to submit my port to bad within 30 days)?
Also, if I don't apply for a new one, will it affect my status since the visa on my port may not be up to a year?

Hi,
BVL = biometrics validation letter, letter that shows the validity of biometrics
PPR = original port request, if your application is approved then your port will be needed to stamp the visa on
AIP = approval in principle, it was used during fall session for those who could not submit all the necessary documents due to covid 19. It simply state eligiblity has been ed. You can read the first 8 pages to know how to apply. I hope this helps
