Please do you know if I will need the FRSC letter in Ontario.
I'm in ontario and I got the FRSC letter 3 weeks before leaving Nigeria. I also had my Original drivers license with me . My letter showed I had been driving for 26 months and I was able to take the knowledge and vision test, got my G1 license and had the option of taking a G test which I did. So if you have 24 or more months of driving experience, I suggest you get the FRSC letter.

Not always the case, if you have a Masters degree, there won't discrimination against you in anyway. Labour laws constraint all employers to give equal opportunity and never to discriminate when they are hiring. Although some cards are secretly played under the table such as things like accents, background et al (as trivial as it may be, it exists)
A known individual got a graduate internship position with a renowned government parastatal that required only a baseline recent BSc. in the job requirements with a recent Masters degree. Many know persons have gotten entry level roles that required base line Bachelors degree with a Masters degree. While all employers aren't oblivious of the fact that employees will keep moving, the onus lies on them to give employees the reason to stay. A Masters degree holder will move at the offer of a better whatever, a college diploma graduate will do likewise.
To have idea about your long term commitments, they will usually ask the generic question such as "Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years". At the mention of this, the arrow has been handed over to you as a candidate to nail yourself where you deem fit.
It is never a minus to have additional qualifications, more so if you are a new immigrant with no canadian experience whatsoever, where the relativity of your experiences may be in question, a higher degree such as a Masters may further help your candidacy during hiring.
Conclusion: If you have a Masters, do kindly include it by all means, a Phd will be a no no..
Alright. Thanks a lot.

I put my education. On my cv, education comes last. Profile summary, skills, work experience, education. So it's work experience that starts from 2015.
Oh I get it now. Thanks a bunch!

Yes, they will check. You can create another linkedin profile. If you chose to keep your old one, remove your picture and you can just leave your initials.
As per gaps... In my case graduated 2006. Modified cv starts from 2015. I did not put any gaps in between relevant experience. If they asked i would have told them I worked in a different sector and as this is my is my chosen field so did not bother to include it..but they did not.
Oh ok. So I'm guessing you didn't include your education at all since you graduated in 2006. Am I right?

At the bolded, it may happen in naija but here you may be seen as a flight risk. They will feel you won't be happy because you are being paid less than you are qualified and will leave the moment you get what you want.
That's why in some cases you find out you will need to have a survival cv for a survival job.
I know of someone who had to reduce years of experience to get a role with IBM.
I don't think he is trying to say Masters is useless..but more like targeting your resume. If a position asks for 4 years experience, saying you have 15 years may not work....
This is true. Please how do you reduce your years of experience or take out an an education such as a Masters degree from your resume without creating a gap in your resume? I've been worried about how to do this. Also, won't the recruiter check out your linkedin profile? Please help!!

The town is feeding off people moving away from Toronoto due to high house prices which in turn has raised rent. Its closest to Mississauga and Oakville.
It has a feeling of being a small town with a bigger town being superimposed over it.
Thanks alot for the information. Let's see how it goes.

It's all part of living in Canada. People get to know what lies ahead of them by reading what is here. I am for anything that will make integration here easy and i jump and what does not relate to me. Let's not stiffle peoples' comments.
Some things i have learnt the hard way because no one got to share them here.
Ok noted!

If you've been waiting for good deal on flights from Lagos to Toronto, you may want to check out Jumia Travel now. I just booked, paid, and i have recieved my e ticket from EgyptAir. I had to follow jumia bumper to bumper because I did transfer. I Insisted they send me the booking confirmation after i paid and sent them payment confirmation. About an hour later, E ticket was sent to my email. By the way, I paid N685,280 for a family of four(2 Adults, 2 Children). Not bad huh!

LOL because u cannot learn how to use left hand in old age, spanking requires no prior thinking. I am actually consciously learning to spank to correct not to dismember, so help me God. So asking me not to spank or yell at all is like just carrying the child away because #kidswillalwaysbekids and #icannotgoandcomeandkillmyself. But I am expectant to see how this will go for me, will be a fantastic phase to grow into.
But i really do spoil them enough to be able to threaten them with seperation
Chai I have to also learn the skills oo. Me that can shout and spank for Africa. God help me ooo.

Please what's the collection process like? Did you tender any document? I sent mine through courier but want to collect in person.
You need to present the receipt that contains the tracking number and the port copy that they gave you. Someone i met there misplaced his own and they told him to get police report and affidavit. Since you sent yours through courier, I'm not entirely sure of the collection process.

Got to Vfs yesterday and was told ports were 'In Transit'. At noon today got email and sms stating I could come for collection. Two other friends got the same message. Didn't have time to go back today.
I'll pick them up tomorrow.
I collected mine today.

I am in a similar situation, submitted on the 9th of July as well.. A friend waited 2 days after tracking showed ports had been dispatched from Accra. If you're waiting for a PUM or whatever it's called, VFS may not send. She went there anyway and the ports were ready. I'll be going on Monday to pick up.
Please if you go on Monday and succeed in collecting your port, let me know here so i can plan to go there. Thanks a bunch!

I learnt it takes about 10-15 working days.
Submitted on July 9 and yet to get port back. It has been dispatched already from Accra and i'm just waiting for the pick up mail (PUM)
I also submitted on July 9 and online status shows it has been dispatched from Accra too. I wonder what is taking them so long to send PUM.

Hello everyone,
Canadians have been very helpful and Milton in particular is very family oriented with lots of public and low cost programs available to engage the kids this summer. I will try to update as I see needful, but I can say that if you have a family and you are looking to save some money Egypt air isn't a bad option.
Really enjoyed reading your landing story. We are still waiting for our ports to be returned from VFS. We intend landing early next year and will be staying in Milton. Hubby will also be doing soft landing. Would be nice to meet up with you when we land. Enjoy maple land and post more info when you can. Cheers.

Goodday to you all...Please I really need help. Got ITA sometime in November 2017, applied and got a response to send other documents in June this year. Did so and got another mail asking me to send port to Vfs Canada. Please is there a WhatsApp group I can be added to so I can chat and get real time information cause somethings are not clear to me. Thanks
LOL. That means your application has been approved and they are ready to issue you with your Visa. Read the email letter carefully and submit the required documents to VFS Canada Lagos or Abuja, depending on where you reside. Please see page 0 of this thread, under 'IMPORTANT LINKS' scroll down you will find information on submitting to VFS Lagos or Abuja. Congratulations.
