Hi all,

Please has any one successfully assessed for 511112 and gotten an invite? Any pointers to be aware of? Thanks.
Bodacious1: 5:37pm On May 17, 2024
Thanks for this. Do I have to hold hard copies of my payslips and qualifications or won't soft copies be sufficient? Also, could I use a friend's address for the TFN or it has to be my own residence?

Thanks again.

blackbriar:
Congratulations

3 years wait!!!
Thats long but it is wihtin the visa requirement.
1. You don't need Centrelink so soon upon landing.
2. You need a bank , phone number and medicare, address to apply for TFN so not top priority on the list.
3. Common Wealth Bank. It is everywhere.
4. This you have to decide your self.

Other stuff on the top prioirty list.
1. Bank and Evidences to the funds you intend to transfer into the ( payslips etc). Big Brother lives here.
2. Phone Number
3. Getting an Australian Driver's Licence , not difficult
4. Certified copies of your educational qulaifications by Justice of the Peace.
5. Copies of all your relevant qualifications for job hunting.
6. and most importantly where to lay your head.

Any State is logical . It all depends on you and your occupation.

My 2 cents.

Hi all,

I recently got my PR and plan to activate it later in the year. Due to my present circumstances, I may not be able to fully relocate to Australia till early 2027. For those who know, could you advise what the likely implications could be?

I plan to do the following during my activation trip. What else would you suggest I do in addition to these?

1) at centrelink
2) Apply for a tax ID
3) Open a bank (suggestions/recommendations are welcome)
4) Possibly get a PAYG SIM

Also, what state is logical for soft landing?

Thanks in advance.

@Bodacious1,

What a good news to read today. It has been a roller coaster journey. At a point, I thought you were already here.
Your tenacity and perseverance paid off.

All the best in the land.

No. I abandoned that process once I got the invitation to apply for 189.

After much waiting, I finally received my grant this morning 19th Feb 2024 (189) on 85 points. It's been quite the journey and I am sharing a breakdown of my process so those waiting can keep hope alive. smiley

February 2019 - Made the decision to migrate to Australia (at this time I already had IELTS - Proficient so giving me 10 points)

December 2019 - Started putting my documentation together to assess as an ICT business analyst with ACS. I requested experience verification from my old employer which I got with no stress. However, my employer as at 2019 was not open to doing this so I had to go the statutory declaration route. Fortunately, a senior colleague agreed to help me with this so I was able to submit an application to ACS.

January 2020 - Received from ACS; my experience with the employer I had to use statutory declaration for was assessed insufficient so I did not get any points for this, which meant I lost points.

March 2020 - I requested a review and provided additional ing documentation. I encountered some difficulty at this stage because even though I provided my colleague's employment letter, staff ID and most recent promotion letter (on letterhead paper), ACS said I hadn't done enough undecided. So I had to resort to extraordinary measures. Luckily, the senior colleague who provided me with a statutory declaration has a heavy internet footprint that proved he was a staff of my organisation at the time so I provided web pages, website links and even a screenshot of his email on our official outlook that also showed the current date at the time. I also prayed and believed God for favour.

April 2020 - I received a full positive assessment from ACS which meant I got the maximum points for work experience. Since I had all the requirements for lodging an EOI, I went ahead to lodge a single application for 189 and selected several states. Of course because of COVID-19 restrictions, the waiting game proper started.

September 2020 - Sat for PTE because my IELTS expired in August 2020. I scored 90 across speaking, writing, listening and reading so this pushed my English to Superior netting me maximum points. Updated my EOI with this result and continued waiting.

October 2021 - After consulting on this forum, I created a single EOI for SA (189, 190, 491) and continued waiting.

February 2022 - I created another EOI, this time for NSW (189, 190, 491) and continued waiting.

April 2022 - The EOI I created in April 2020 expired. My ACS skills assessment also expired so I had to apply for a fresh one in June 2022.

July 2022 - Received updated ACS skills assessment.

August 2022 - Victoria opened up so I created and lodged an EOI and continued waiting. Also placed a registration of interest (ROI) with Victoria but was not selected in the invitation rounds for August, September, October and November 2022. I was a bit discouraged at this point but was left with no other option than to continue waiting.

December 2022 - Received an invitation to apply for 189 on two EOIs (NSW and SA). This was a miracle because by January 2023 I would be turning a new age that would have reduced my total points to 10. Also, the points I had were the minimum points scored for my occupation in the December 2022 invitation round. So this was truly a miracle for me.

January & February 2023 - Did my medicals and submitted my application for the 189. Waiting game resumed.

October 2023 - I received a notification that my application was being assessed.

February 2024 - Grant received. Halleluyah! grin

For doctors, migrating to Australia is quite different. We have to obtain Australia Medical licence before anything.
There are 3 pathways to working in Australia as a doctor.
Bodacious1: 11:48pm On Jan 09, 2024
Hi all,

Is there anyone who can advise possible options in Australia for a Nigerian trained medical doctor (the person has risen to consultant nephrologist with about 14 years experience)?

If you have access to your pension statements online, then yes you can. I have limited knowledge on the process for tax remittances so I can't say much about that.

Vbabs:
Thanks for your response.

So you mean i can my pension or tax remittance from start till date as evidence?

Bodacious1: 10:20pm On Jul 28, 2023
Offer letters won't cut it. You will alternative documents that show evidence of pension and/or tax remittances. Also, you will need bank statements corroborating your salary payments.

Vbabs:
Hello All,

I need some clarity please. For ACS skill assessment, the part around evidence of payment. Can offer letter(s) - showing remuneration be presented in cases where pay slip is not available. I have cumulative 12 years work experience as an IT Professional with about 4 companies.

Detailed response will be appreciated please.

Thank you, the occupation is tailoring/seamstress. Will do my research.

tunlex01:

very likely, I am not sure. It depends on the occupation you are assessing. A level 2 occupation requires AQF 6 for assessment than a level 3 occupation. It may or may not work. You can also call or email TRA.

Hi,

On this, is there a minimum duration for acquiring training in this profession? For more context, would a 3-month course be sufficient and 5+ years of verifiable work experience be eligible for TRA assessment? Thanks.

tunlex01:

The need qualification for any trade assessment (Trade test, diploma, degree, apprenticeship etc). without that and a 3 years experience with verifiable documents, there cannot be a positive assessment with TRA

Hi people,

Does anyone know anybody who migrated to Oz successfully as a dressmaker/tailor? I would like to be connected to such a person for tips for a friend. Thank you.
Bodacious1: 10:22pm On Apr 13, 2023
Not aware of any biometrics being done online. As far as I know one has to go into the commission for capture.

SpicyMimi:

When did you submit and how come your biometric is May? I think people do biometrics online now.
Bodacious1: 4:11pm On Apr 01, 2023
Thank you!

tunlex01:

Don’t include any details. Skip it.
You are going in on skilled migration so you should have enough to take care of yourself.
Bodacious1: 10:48pm On Mar 31, 2023
Hi @tunlex02, @bellong

On the form 80, there's a section that asks to include details of friends or relatives in Oz. I have a handful of friends there (like 3 really all in different states) but we do not communicate constantly. Is it ok to not include their details? I'm not keen on asking them for things like their address information.

Thanks.
Bodacious1: 10:45pm On Mar 31, 2023
Hi,

I have submitted my application and will do my biometrics capture early May.
SpicyMimi:

Hi, have you renewed your port??
Bodacious1: 5:56pm On Mar 28, 2023
You should provide statements at least for the three months that correspond with the amounts on your payslips.

PaPxM:

@Bellong, thank you for your swift response, I will start the assessment once I'm done with my IELTS Exams, secondly the banking statements for the Assessment do they need all duration or only a few months. On TRA Website, Payslip is stated specifically for 3 Months but the Bank statement was not stated.

Hi all,

Has anyone here tried to renew their Nigerian port in the UK? What's the process like please? I've visited the website several times but can't seem to progress beyond the page where I input the reason for port renewal. It also navigates to a page meanwhile I don't see any link for creating an (which I assume is required before you can , in the first place).

Thanks!

1) Your BSc. (although, experienced folks can advise more on this in view of the university you graduated from)

2) There are minimum requirements that your spouse is also expected to meet, to boost your points by 10 and 5 respectively:

i) For you to be eligible for the award of these points (10) your partner must be an applicant for the same visa subclass and must not be an Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen. Additionally, you will need to provide evidence that when you were invited to apply for this visa that they:
a) were under 45 years old
b) had competent English
c) had nominated a skilled occupation that is eligible for points
d) had a suitable skills assessment from the relevant assessing authority for their nominated skilled occupation.

ii) For you to be eligible for the award of these points (5) your partner must be an applicant for the same visa subclass and must not be an Australian permanent resident or an Australian citizen.

In your case, point (ii) may be more applicable as your spouse appears not to have work experience which aligns with her qualification.

damiontop:
Hello House,

I am a Computer sci BSc graduate from OOU in nigeria with 13years ICT experience in telecomms and my spouse is an Msc holder in environmental toxicology & mgt pollution but no work experience. However, she is self employed in Photography & makeup. I intend to apply for Skilled Independent visa (subclass 189),Skilled Nominated visa (subclass 190),Skilled Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 489) or Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (subclass 491).

I need some clarifications on the below questions.

1.When checking the points calculator. what should i choose for the question."what is your highest qualification?" because i plan of assessing my qualification/experience with ACS which might decrease my years of experience.#i pray i get 8years remaining afterall anyway!

2. When checking the points calculator for partner skill. what does it mean when chosen the below options.
i.Your spouse or defacto partner must also be an applicant for this visa and meet age,English and skill criteria?
ii.Your spouse or defacto partner must also be an applicant for this visa and has competent English?

Thanks in anticipating for .

Hi all and happy new year,

I need guidance and advice on how to pay for 189 application from Nigeria. What are the reasonable, practical and safe/trustworthy options I can explore?

Many thanks in advance for helpful responses.
Bodacious1: 4:26pm On Dec 15, 2022
@Mcslize @Tunlex01

Thanks for your responses, God bless. Wow, I had no idea about extra EOIs clogging others' chances, lol one learns every day.
Bodacious1: 2:33pm On Dec 14, 2022
I understand what 189 is. Let me ask this question differently, so my point of view is clearer...

I created three separate EOIs each for three different states.

For state 1, I selected 189, 190 & 491
For states 2 & 3, I selected 189 & 190

Last week, I received two separate emails inviting me to lodge a visa application using EOIs I created for states 2 & 3. I opted to use the EOI I created for state 2 and now while completing the application, I got to a stage asking me to select state of residence (that's the screenshot I shared). If I select any state now, does this mean I can still change my mind to a different state when the time comes for me to move without restrictions (since 189 is a federal visa)?

Thanks for your help.

tunlex01:

Perhaps check your post again.
189 is a federal visa subclass. You don't select state for 189 and if you are required to select any state, just select any or unknown
Bodacious1: 10:27pm On Dec 13, 2022
Hi again house,

Please what's the procedure if you receive two separate EOI invitations for 189 (for SA and NSW)? Can I just pick any one to apply? Also, if I pick either one, can I choose a completely different intended state as residence? Your help/response will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
