Fellow human, the world has changed, the world is changing, I saw something that startled me, I couldn't believe my eyes and I have been pondering, thinking of the possibilities and the uncertainty that automation will birth. A few days back, I saw a video on YouTube about a company Aurora, that is making a technology that let's trucks that carry goods drive on the Interstate 45 (highway) in Texas without a human driver. I was like, why do this? These are people's source of livelihood? Seriously a truck without a driver, on long distance, on a highway!! What if something goes wrong? Isn't that a missile on wheels, jeez. They "Aurora" said this technology will combat the shortage of drivers for these trucks but is there truly a shortage of drivers or a shortage of people/companies to pay these drivers wages that can sustain them in these current times? Look this technology is remarkable, if not ground breaking but technology shouldn't come at the cost of the human. Imagine truck drivers losing their jobs just because a certain technology can now do it better and cheaper than them, whoa. Thing is this stuff is gaining ground, Aurora is looking to expand beyond Texas, to other states where laws aren't too tight for them to carry out testing and then operations in the future. I looked at Nigeria, knowing we would want to copy and implement anything technologically advanced from these tech guys in the US, I know we don't have a lot of road infrastructure here, even the ones we have aren't well maintained in most parts of the country but..... Just imagine if there's a possibility that companies or people here could cut out drivers to reduce cost with these autonomous trucks, they'll do it and the consequences would be devastating. I'd want to state that we are far from this scenario due to complexities involved but things can change very fast in the future that makes things that seemed impossible to be possible. Anytime concerns are raised about these types of technology some people downplay it by saying "it will create more jobs" and I ask how? Someone in the video said that a human doesn't need to be replaced, that a human can actually drive a leading truck while other autonomous trucks without drivers follow it behind, especially in challenging weather or terrain. Question is how long will the leading human truck driver keep driving before the technology can now do without him? My stance with technology is that it shouldn't take away from us but make us better in whatever we do. It shouldn't leave us worse off than before it came. |

delvzy: How can one learn how to invest in the Nigerian Stock Market? Is it advisable? How stocks? Can one start small or you need substantial amounts first? I only know Bamboo and Chaka as platforms to buy stocks both Nigerian and US but the charges on Bamboo is much. I don't know why something like stocks that they want everyday people to be a part of will cost that much to get into especially for beginners. Also I hear about stocks paying dividends especially banks in Nigeria and makes me wonder if they pay the investors on Bamboo or just investors that ed with them at their banks. I don't know how all these stuff works, would be glad if you helped out or anyone at all. |

SpreshMan: Whew... I think perception of wealth is relative to different people, some can have $1 Billion and not feel rich enough, some can have $200 Million and feel like they're on top of the world. I think the best way to take care of this is not to compare and be grateful for what you have considering people have less than you or even nothing. I leave you with this "Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." Wish you the best brother Bro you've made and learnt a huge lesson that many have not or never made. Now you know what not to do and also know what to do going forward. Wealth is not built in a flash it takes times, look at Warren Buffett he became a billionaire at 56, look for something, give it your all with time and consistency you'll make that 20 Million back and even more and can still become one of the highest net worth individuals in Nigeria if you wish. |

I'd say he moves to a competitive league first, Spain or England, preferably England, stay 2 seasons then go to Saudi Arabia. But in the case no big team also comes he should just fast forward and go to the Saudi at once

OP see eh when a person is not rich or doesn't have money they do a lot of things that have a lot of risks involved but when they then make a substantial amount they guard it, take less risk as possible, example is banks especially in Nigeria, do you see them give loans out to people and businesses anyhow? One of the things that led to the failure of Heritage Bank were bad loans. Even these hedge funds and investment companies, they don't take anyhow risk, they minimize risk or avoid it if possible. Whether memecoin, any form or type of crypto, forex trading and even stock trading, you have to be prepared for anything because the people or computers on the other side aren't joking, they'll decimate you and leave nothing left, that's how these markets are. I'd say you seek consultation about what other real life businesses you could do even though returns might not be much, on the long run you should do far better than when you started, trading isn't the best way in my opinion to make constant income, I don't even like trading all these online stuff like crypto, forex etc You can lose everything and return to square one. There's data backing high rates of loses in these ventures. Another thing I want to say and I've observed is that the way retail traders trade is very different from how Institution/banks trade, people say that it's the same market they all trade, ok but how are you sure it's the same market or just a facade from the broker to simulate reality, even if it's the same market do you have the tools, information and capital that the big banks and institutions have? Even in crypto they'd be a whale or whales that pump price to get people to invest then short and make profit, many who invest wouldn't have an idea because they don't have the insider info. Finally I'd say you should stay away from trading away your hard earned money. You're already feeling the huge loss of 20 Million Naira don't add more misery to yourself by losing even more. 1 Like |

WhiteIverson: Humans clamouring for AI? How many people do you know are actively clamouring for it if not all the Billionaires, Tech CEO's, WEF and their likes. How many humans are clamouring for these advancements? Talk more of to rule the human race. We should never get to the point where we let machines have the final say on crucial matters, machines should always obey the human, not replace the human. No human would want a world like in the Terminator where "Skynet" is in total, absolute control and even out to eliminate humans who created it. Who ever controls this AI, has a lot of power on their hands, look around you who controls them? |

SamuraiXXX: In the short term these robots will be said to help man, make life easier for Man, make humans do less redundant, stressful jobs etc The ultimate goal of this robots will be Control, these things some people are marvelling about will be what powers that be will use to control and enforce. What's even the benefit of these robots to the average human? Did we ask for any of these robots? Seems when you get to a certain level of wealth, one loses their humanity just like these billionaires are doing. |
