Fellow human, the world has changed, the world is changing, I saw something that startled me, I couldn't believe my eyes and I have been pondering, thinking of the possibilities and the uncertainty that automation will birth.

A few days back, I saw a video on YouTube about a company Aurora, that is making a technology that let's trucks that carry goods drive on the Interstate 45 (highway) in Texas without a human driver. I was like, why do this? These are people's source of livelihood? Seriously a truck without a driver, on long distance, on a highway!! What if something goes wrong? Isn't that a missile on wheels, jeez. They "Aurora" said this technology will combat the shortage of drivers for these trucks but is there truly a shortage of drivers or a shortage of people/companies to pay these drivers wages that can sustain them in these current times?

Look this technology is remarkable, if not ground breaking but technology shouldn't come at the cost of the human. Imagine truck drivers losing their jobs just because a certain technology can now do it better and cheaper than them, whoa. Thing is this stuff is gaining ground, Aurora is looking to expand beyond Texas, to other states where laws aren't too tight for them to carry out testing and then operations in the future.

I looked at Nigeria, knowing we would want to copy and implement anything technologically advanced from these tech guys in the US, I know we don't have a lot of road infrastructure here, even the ones we have aren't well maintained in most parts of the country but..... Just imagine if there's a possibility that companies or people here could cut out drivers to reduce cost with these autonomous trucks, they'll do it and the consequences would be devastating. I'd want to state that we are far from this scenario due to complexities involved but things can change very fast in the future that makes things that seemed impossible to be possible.

Anytime concerns are raised about these types of technology some people downplay it by saying "it will create more jobs" and I ask how? Someone in the video said that a human doesn't need to be replaced, that a human can actually drive a leading truck while other autonomous trucks without drivers follow it behind, especially in challenging weather or terrain. Question is how long will the leading human truck driver keep driving before the technology can now do without him?

My stance with technology is that it shouldn't take away from us but make us better in whatever we do. It shouldn't leave us worse off than before it came.

Rather than doing the work to learn about the stock market and how to build generational wealth in the long run, they will be looking for 100x in 30 days.

How can one learn how to invest in the Nigerian Stock Market? Is it advisable? How stocks? Can one start small or you need substantial amounts first? I only know Bamboo and Chaka as platforms to buy stocks both Nigerian and US but the charges on Bamboo is much. I don't know why something like stocks that they want everyday people to be a part of will cost that much to get into especially for beginners. Also I hear about stocks paying dividends especially banks in Nigeria and makes me wonder if they pay the investors on Bamboo or just investors that ed with them at their banks.

I don't know how all these stuff works, would be glad if you helped out or anyone at all.

Thanks for this bro, it made a lot of sense.., I had to go on a defensive, I would think I know how hard it is to make money in real life and I have also read a lot of experiences of people who lost big too on the internet but one way or the other, the stories didn’t stop me from mes and it has happened to me. My pain is that I know how hard it is to make money in real life… I wouldn’t just walk around and make 20 million back and for me to make it back via trading I have to take more risks… it hurts but I would move on. Fs

But for what it is worth, I never felt rich when I had it all intact, was still calculative and having expansionist thoughts, it was upon losing it than it dawn on me that I could have easily been included in the top 10% in Nigeria

Whew... I think perception of wealth is relative to different people, some can have $1 Billion and not feel rich enough, some can have $200 Million and feel like they're on top of the world. I think the best way to take care of this is not to compare and be grateful for what you have considering people have less than you or even nothing.

I leave you with this

"Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts."

Wish you the best brother

Bro you've made and learnt a huge lesson that many have not or never made. Now you know what not to do and also know what to do going forward. Wealth is not built in a flash it takes times, look at Warren Buffett he became a billionaire at 56, look for something, give it your all with time and consistency you'll make that 20 Million back and even more and can still become one of the highest net worth individuals in Nigeria if you wish.
Bigwings22: 3:42pm On May 23
I'd say he moves to a competitive league first, Spain or England, preferably England, stay 2 seasons then go to Saudi Arabia. But in the case no big team also comes he should just fast forward and go to the Saudi at once

Can you spare $1k for forex trading, at least lemme trade for you.
Of course it's not possible for me to recover all ur losses for u but that would provide some succour...
I have evidence of consistent profitability that I can show u...let's talk
[email protected]

Why do you need 1 thousand dollars from someone on the internet you don't know? He didn't ask that he needs who will trade anything for him you know
Bigwings22: 1:38pm On May 23
OP see eh when a person is not rich or doesn't have money they do a lot of things that have a lot of risks involved but when they then make a substantial amount they guard it, take less risk as possible, example is banks especially in Nigeria, do you see them give loans out to people and businesses anyhow? One of the things that led to the failure of Heritage Bank were bad loans. Even these hedge funds and investment companies, they don't take anyhow risk, they minimize risk or avoid it if possible.

Whether memecoin, any form or type of crypto, forex trading and even stock trading, you have to be prepared for anything because the people or computers on the other side aren't joking, they'll decimate you and leave nothing left, that's how these markets are. I'd say you seek consultation about what other real life businesses you could do even though returns might not be much, on the long run you should do far better than when you started, trading isn't the best way in my opinion to make constant income, I don't even like trading all these online stuff like crypto, forex etc You can lose everything and return to square one. There's data backing high rates of loses in these ventures.

Another thing I want to say and I've observed is that the way retail traders trade is very different from how Institution/banks trade, people say that it's the same market they all trade, ok but how are you sure it's the same market or just a facade from the broker to simulate reality, even if it's the same market do you have the tools, information and capital that the big banks and institutions have? Even in crypto they'd be a whale or whales that pump price to get people to invest then short and make profit, many who invest wouldn't have an idea because they don't have the insider info.

Finally I'd say you should stay away from trading away your hard earned money. You're already feeling the huge loss of 20 Million Naira don't add more misery to yourself by losing even more.

I don't need to remind you of the numerous normal things today which were unimaginable 20years ago

It doesn't mean AI should be worshipped
Bigwings22: 11:19pm On May 22

Lol that's why I said a thousand years from now. Future generations would become more and more dependent on AI and trust them more than their fellow humans.

I still haven't figured out your why still
Bigwings22: 11:14pm On May 22
Karleb:

AI usually start it statement with 'with'.

The after all and furthermore.

Proper punctuations. Notice how the statement in brackets were properly punctuated.

You'd also notice the use of big big grammar in what was supposed to be a casual conversation.

If you prompt AI enough, you'd notice the patterns.

I noticed the big grammar as well, thanks for your answer

The same humans would be the ones clamouring for AI to rule because we can no longer trust ourselves to lead.

Humans clamouring for AI? How many people do you know are actively clamouring for it if not all the Billionaires, Tech CEO's, WEF and their likes. How many humans are clamouring for these advancements? Talk more of to rule the human race.

We should never get to the point where we let machines have the final say on crucial matters, machines should always obey the human, not replace the human. No human would want a world like in the Terminator where "Skynet" is in total, absolute control and even out to eliminate humans who created it.

Who ever controls this AI, has a lot of power on their hands, look around you who controls them?

As much as I don't wish to agree with him, but humans are pushing this AI to a far dangerous level.

One day they will have liberty to be autonomous and either bring about the end of reigns of humans or co exist with us.

Joke apart, it's heading that way and it's moving fast.

D

This is same Anthropic that their CEO said they don't really understand how their AI works. Like wait all this AI advancements and you don't know how it works huh? And we dey clap for AI say e dey advance?
Bigwings22: 8:42pm On May 22

AI is taking over. Thousands of years from now, AI would take over leadership roles.
No more need for a president, governors, senators and reps.
Just AI to rule us all smiley

That will be dangerously dangerous

A time will come when these things will become an integral part of everyday life.

People will walk past them while doing routine tasks and what not. Some may even be sent to Mars to explore the red planet and even other earth-like planets in our galaxy.

damnnn, what was once science fiction is steadily becoming reality all while most african countries are battling with stable power supply.

Same species, different mindset smiley

I wonder why man (especially Americans) is/are so in love with the idea of living on that Mars, what's so special about Mars? These Billionaires sha, seems like anything they do or say is correct. Spending so much time and effort on Mars.

The ultimate goal of this robots will be Control, these things some people are marvelling about will be what powers that be will use to control and enforce. What's even the benefit of these robots to the average human? Did we ask for any of these robots?

Seems when you get to a certain level of wealth, one loses their humanity just like these billionaires are doing.

We deserve to lose tbh shocking selection from Amorim.
Shaw & Mount were shocking selection to start with.
Bruno Fernandes was so bad making me miss Paul Pogba sigh
Honestly still haven't seen the hype around Amad diallo yet.
Hojlund is the worst striker to ever play for this club.

Delete this club.

Amad did have the best attacking threat amongst all the forward players in my opinion.
Bigwings22: 10:35pm On May 21
Angelfrost:

Lol... Beg Moyes to do what now?!!

After sacking Amorim, who should they employ?!!

When I asked this question when you guys were clamouring for ETH to be sacked, a lot of you pointed at Amorim.

Now, you want him gone... Who will come and perform that magic?!!

Moyes is an average coach... He can never win major trophies nor keep United in the top 4. That's just a fact.

United needs to clean house this summer first of all... They need to clear out all underperformers.

Let the young coach get his players or at least use preseason to groom his squad properly.

If after next season, there is no upward movement, you sack him.

No coach, no matter how good, can lay a proper foundation within less than a season.

As it even stands, the best coaches will need 2 full seasons and 2 busy transfer windows to firmly implement a working system.

I agree with you, Man U has many underperforming players ship them out. Since no European competition they can use next season and start planning their future gradually
Bigwings22: 10:31pm On May 21
Angelfrost:

Yeah... Amorim's biggest undoing this season was his strikers wasting chances.

Victor Gyokeres has a 65 - 70 Million price tag, but United will not likely be able to afford that, and even if they could, the young man might prefer to go to Arsenal or Chelsea or any UCL club.

Osimhen is not even in their radar.

The club will have to make some really tough decisions this summer... Already, they are slashing wages, that's why Casemiro and Rashford have to go.

Ineos said they can no longer afford to pay any player high wages going forward.

Let the true Fans remain... Let the glory-hunting plastic fans leave for other clubs.

They can bounce back if they work with the coach and get their gs right.

Wow no be small, plenty things dey happen for Man U
Bigwings22: 10:27pm On May 21
Proudlyngwa:

Sack Amorin
He is beyond useless

United need to go down on all 4 and beg Moyes

Moyes lol why though?
Bigwings22: 10:20pm On May 21
Angelfrost:

What coach that came to Man United ever did enough for you fans?!!

Mourinho
Van Gaal
ETH
Ragnick
Even Ole

All proven good coaches, yet you guys messed them up.

Sack Amorim today, bring Pep or Klopp, nothing will change!

You can't fly into success in a short leap...!

You guys have been headed to rock bottom even before ETH was appointed... Maybe if you guys had allowed him more time, things might have improved.

Now, Amorim has to start all over... Sacking him will mean the next coach repeating the unending vicious cycle.

Heard Ferguson didn't start out very good, it took him time as well. Guess that's what Man U needs now, patience with a long term strategy and not to look for a quick fix. They should get their recruiting right, have belief in their coach also.
