You have said it all.
On the list of useless HMOs in Nigeria, Reliance takes the cake.
They were great at first, then they became the most terrible service provider EVER.
They will be texting pharmacy not to give you drugs that costs more than ₦5000. Antibiotic ooo. Please which good brand of antibiotic for a child is 5k and below.
I ended up adding 8k to buy my daughter the branded one because the one the pharmacy said is less than 5k she has used it before, and it was so useless.
Another time she needed Zithromax, they had also instructed the pharmacy not to give us the branded one. Rather they should give the 3k one. Okay we collected it. My daughter just got worse. Until I had to cough out about 13k OUT OF POCKET the second time so we can get her the branded one.
Very useless HMO Reliance.

Demons run Reliance HMo

Airpeace should be called Air Unsettled or anything asides from the suffix ‘Peace’

It’s a shame that the Nigerian behaviour has crept into an airline with total disdain for keeping to schedule.

I would never fly with air peace again.

Thumbs up to Ibom Air, those guys are competent, they keep to schedule.

I relocated to the United States about eight years ago. My relationship with my dad has been strained and continues to deteriorate.

Background:
I grew up in a lower-middle-class family with both my mom and dad working hard. Everything changed when my dad started earning significant money. His newfound wealth led to a lifestyle filled with parties, women, and alcohol (to be fair, he earned his money, so he had the right to spend it as he pleased). He built a hotel and was barely home afterward.

2010:
While I was in college, I wanted to leave Nigeria due to the incessant ASUU strikes. I told my dad I wanted to study abroad. Initially, he agreed and gave me the funds to start the process. I was itted to a school in Ukraine and secured a visa, but he later said he couldn’t afford to send me abroad. This decision felt contradictory, as his lifestyle said otherwise. (To be fair, it’s his money, and he has the right to decide how to spend it.)

2016:
I got itted to a master’s program in the U.S. and approached my dad for help again. He told me to "cut my coat according to my size" and said he couldn’t sell any of his properties for the sake of a child studying abroad. (Again, to be fair, he was right—he had already paid for my college tuition in Nigeria.) Around the same time, he married another wife.

On the other hand, my mom sold her only piece of land and some jewelry to give me half of my first semester's tuition. After involving family , my dad reluctantly gave me ₦400,000, stating that was all he could afford. I thanked him for the .

Fast Forward to Today:
I struggled and worked odd jobs to make ends meet, determined never to ask him for help again. Over time, I’ve become financially stable, secured a good job, and am now a permanent resident. I give my dad a monthly allowance and occasionally send more during festive seasons. My mom, on the other hand, gets spoiled with gifts, extra money, and I’ve even invited her to visit and spend time with me in the U.S.

Now, my dad is broke and has suggested I buy him a car and increase what I do for him, despite the fact that my parents are separated and he currently lives with his second wife. I’ve told myself I won’t go above and beyond for him, especially since he chose to prioritize his lifestyle and the new wife (who came with a stepson). I find it hard to reconcile his past decisions with his current expectations.

Am I in the wrong here?

I feel your pain something similar happened to me

And when I finally forgave him, he died 2 days later. Please note he wasn’t sick I just didn’t know the man reduced his age to get a job, he was 10 years older and it didn’t show.

Moral of the story, let go and spoil both parents because very soon they won’t be there for you to spoil.

Trying to change my HMO to either of the ones mentioned in the subject due to service issues experienced with the one I am presently enrolled in.
Is Leadway HMO actually leading other HMOs or is Reliance more reliable?

The worst HMO I can ever think of. The only solution you should provide is paracetamol and catarrh medication. It’s unfortunate there’s no functional regulatory body to sanction you. Even as bad as Nigeria is you add your unemphatic treatment to your clients that pay you , placing their calls on mute for 45 mins, not delivering medications even after 30 days until the person dies, customer care agents that only have robotic answers, pharmacy team that’s completely unethical in their approach, a HMO that tackles prescription medication from Consultants! If you’re a client or have anyone with pre existing condition like asthma, imagine you needed your meds and the HMO says something like, “we are sincerely sorry about how this makes you feel, a ticket has been raised with the pharmacy department” Everytime you ask for your medication or you visit a hospital. Imagine your HMO as useless as they come because you know at the end of the day the above response is what you get even for reimbursement. An HMO that says you get your medication immediately but you’ll have to wait for 30 days send at least 20 emails, post of their social media handles and get nothing. Or An HMO that says reimbursement happens within 3-5 working days and you’re 35 days counting with nothing. Or an HMO that cherry picks what test you’re entitled for when it’s convenient. To know how clueless Nigeria is , do a deep dive on Reliance HMO.

Nothing useless about it. It's better we see sponsors posts like this that the inter-tribal mess we do here with every topic.
Let's see how the name Peter Obi will find it's way into a topic like this

If anyone can pay to get FP topic, that means any topic can be pushed to FP.

Why can’t they just leave ads where they are and leave FP topics to contents that makes Nairaland nigerian.

I don’t care about politics and it sickens me when people supposedly adults according to the law are tribalistic bigots.

Nairaland has lost it

Nigerians are just wicked, and greedy. These same people will go to church to give testimony on how God blessed them richly during the travail of Nigerians. If you watch the pattern of increment across imported goods such as cars, electronics...the increment was in tune of above 300% while dollar increase was barely 150% when it peaked. This is to tell you that what we experienced is pure wickedness.
Some will use the custom duty as excuse as if it is excluded from the landing cost. If landing cost originally was 2.5 for example, Then the new price should be around 100% or 150% when it peaked for specific rate of dollar at the time of purchase and landing. Meaning it should sell for 5.0 to 6.25, However, because of systemic greed, they would sell for 7 - 8million envisaging that dollar would rise to N2500, so, they plan ahead. But when dollar started dropping, they stayed put with the mindset that they will further maximise profit.

I can tell you categorically that, aside the poor masses that has nothing to do with import and export, the rest that has dollar , live in abroad, import goods....all were subtly happy because the period enriched them. All their cries are artificial....as the dollars plunged against naira, many of them are not happy.

thats the pandemic we are facing as Nigeria

I posted an exact topic in 2017 and 7 years later the same thing is repeating itself.

https://nairaland.macsoftware.info/3702849/naira-gain-against-us-dollar

The very moment USD gained against NGN, car dealers increased their current stock price, not the cars that were in transit, this followed by a ripple effect, vehicles that have been purchased months or even years before the current rate at the time also increased their “Nigerian used vehicles”

For example
When usd was 600/750 Toks cars
Toyota Camry 2013 sold for ₦4.5m
Toyota Camry 2005 XLE sold for ₦1.8m
Toyota Camry 2010/12 sold for ₦2.5m / ₦2.8m

I wouldn’t want to post the current prices but for Camry 2013 I saw one Toks for ₦13m while Nigerian used for ₦8.5m

So my questions are
1. What will they do, will they continually justify the arbitrary increase due to the USD / NGN stint of February 2024?

2. Those Nigerian used car owners that aren’t car dealers, will they too blame the arbitrary increase to greedy car dealers

3. Or are Nigerians including myself, wicked and greedy people?
