2015 didn't just humble those who did not Buhari, it humbled even Buhari ers.

Everyone in this country is equally partaking in the increased hardship and insecurity no matter who they voted.

We all lost after Buhari won.

So, if we vote wrong in 2023, it will humble all of us including you.

Elections are not personal Victories. If the wrong person wins, the whole country loses (all of us irrespective of who you voted for will lose).

But if the right person wins, all of us wins.

It's up to you search your soul and know this isn't about humbling anyone and more about doing what is best for everyone.

This comment aged well.

Rubbish, instead of you to thank the doctors that worked hard to make that operation a success, you are thanking one invisible Jewish fictional character.....why didn't you also thank Zeus, Vishnu, thot, Anubis, ifa

now that the doctors were successful, they thank god, but if u died during the operation, they won't blame God, they will blame the doctor, saying he was incompetent and negligent.

Let me use this opportunity to salute the doctors for a job well done.

Brother, the thing tire me no be small. Why the woman no pray make the fibroid disappear instead? After hours of toil in the theater, you come out successfully, you now praise the imaginary Jewish character, clueless.

They bomb them! Israel and Saudi Arabia kill there enemies at will...... And it baffles me why we re so intoxicated with the belief than the founders!

People subscribe to different delusions, no matter how absurd, as long as it gets them through this tough and hard world.

How many politicans will take anti corruption oaths with juju? None. But they will happily use the religious books because they know they ain't effective. Juju is all about manipulating Energy fields to create illusions. Since life itself is an illusion, it is also a branch of Juju. Don't let limited school books belittle the potency of Juju( Ancient Alchemy)

Everyone practice juju in different forms, we just don't know it. Maybe the word " juju" is the problem, because it sounds primitive and has been left in the hands of the illiterates. How were the pyramids built? Perhaps with sophisticated Juju ( levitation). It is a shame all these knowledge are lost and replaced with low level science books.

Thank you jare.

I always take care not to give hasty judgement on matters such as this. The fact that we don't know how these things work don't mean they don't exist, or that there are some invisible tiny men pulling the strings.

Life is energy. Energy can be manipulated, twisted , so is our understanding of reality. Every trade has its secret. What you do not know is mystery, but to those who do, you are merely ignorant.

Nigerians and their tendency to throw numbers around without any form of statistical analysis or even a basic survey. How did they arrived at this number? Half of all married couples in a whole state are HIV positive? Are they insane? One out of every two, eh?

BS upon BS!!

O pari

I think what the research is trying to say is that married people for atleast 51.6% of the total number of people living with the disease. I hope at least.

I knew that's what you would come up with "Big Bang" which is almost certainly a fact. But if you were someone humble and open intellectually you would have opted to learn the rest about the model.

Would you like to learn?

Lol, you get patience walahi. Please I need books on the big bang theory, any way you can help a brother?

Let us for once assume that there is something big enough to be bigger than the whole cosmos such that such controls the cosmos because cosmos is its own creation.

The people who gave those testimonies above had better reasoning and I am sure you derived your reasoning from theirs. The reason I asked you to hear them out.

The purpose of this post is to make you think the other way.

I have tried both ways my friend and I sure where the truth lies.

Your choice is yours!

There is nothing wrong with following your line of assumption but the issue is this, I'll be starting from the solution and then finding every and any data that s my position, the result of such methods are simply not reliable.

I know what a hypothesis is, and I am not hasty to dismiss the god explanation without due consultation or research. Unfortunately, a hypothesis is just what it is, not fact. Incidentally, there is more than one for the explanation of the cosmos.

You are sure where the truth lies? What is truth? and which do you refer to in this instance?

Let us for once reason together, let us for once try and imagine what sort of God we always portray as that which we believe in. Coercion doesn't beget sincere adoration rather it brings about silence, and silence is neither to be confused with sincerity and devotion.

You all make the grandeur of the universe seem so small, makes the grand design of creation tiny, you psychologically imagine a geocentric universe where it is all about you, the news is, it is not.

I want you to allow your mind to wonder, i need you to think about the universe and our place in it. We are nothing more than cosmic blinks lost in the shores of forever dangling in a mot of dust floating in eternity.

we let ourselves imagine a God, we let ourselves tinker with the possibilities of beings far greater than we are, we let ourselves dream about entities that are everything we are not; We are vulnerable beings but God is ever secure, we are frail but God is the strongest, we know so little but God is all knowing, our power so small but God is all powerful, our place in the universe so minuscule but God is omnipresent.

It seems God is a projection of everything we are not, God is all our imperfections staring us right into the face, our fears and our hope needing to finding solace and comfort however we can muster, it seems at first glance that God is the projections of all our vulnerability.

God is all powerful, all knowing, all present, he literally caused everything that is and everything that will be almost from nothing. Let us try to put the depth of the universe into scale.

We live on a very tiny planet amidst a host of others dangling around a middle aged mediocre star lost in a remote corner of an astonishingly big but average galaxy, hundreds of thousands of a million probably is far less than the count of these universes hanging on a deep dusk of eternity we call universe.

God is powerful enough to create this, God is able to do this but such a magnificent God capable and able to create this grand cosmos you'd be dismayed to figure that God is also everything that mankind is.

God is petty, God has needs, God is vulnerable, emotionally insecure and volatile.

Here comes the all powerful, self sufficient creator of the universe dabbling into the affairs of a lost specie in a insignificant planet, this all powerful God loves some of them more than others, this humongous self sufficient God needs their love, it needs their praise, their belief, their adoration, God craves these things that he prepares to burn everyone of them who doesn't give him what he needs.

You have outrightly insulted and ridiculed your very concept of God, you have heaped upon us a paradox that still we cannot come to with.

If God is all powerful and all contained, why would he be bothered with my tiny belief unless he is not.

So forgive me if i fail to see the sense in an all powerful, sufficient God who is still petty and needy, pardon me if i cannot come to with the inclusion of such opposite virtues in one entity, i am sorry good sir but your guesses of what God can do contradicts your guesses of what God is making it almost certainly that God is only but a child of a tiny human mind.

I am sorry my good sir but your God is an insult to itself. simple too small for this cosmos

This your brain ehn, I sure am going to kidnap it if I ever meet you in flesh and blood.

Even though it was way out of point and having no connection with the topic, or my comment, I merely chose to reply your quote for the purpose of education ChristineC.

Anyone can choose to believe in delusions, half truths, complete lies or whatever tickles their fancy, it is a free world. What you should do is make it private, you know, like taking a s.hit, or banging your partner, but the moment you make it public, except contrary opinions and in some cases, serious bashing. Only ridiculous ideas need the much shielding religious ones demand.

Tueh.

you should leave everyone to their "delusions" and don't disturb others regurgitating your own delusion. research told of how humans evolved from apes but are yet to tell us how apes came to be or why apes no longer become humans in 2017. there are 1001 concepts unexplained by science but it doesn't matter anyway.
doesn't matter who believes the gospel or not. when we all die and there's a life after death then we'll all know, and if not then that's the end.

Lol. You obviously have little to no idea what the theory of evolution is, else you wont ask why apes no longer turn to humans as if it were a magic show.

There are hundreds, if not more phenomena, unexplainable by science, yet, but considering the history of both methods, scientific and hasty conclusion which is the forte of religion, I'd be safer pitching my tent with science.

Like Sam Harris once said, "I would challenge anyone here to think of a question upon which we once had a scientific answer, however inadequate, but for which now the best answer is a religious one".

Over two thousand years and the best evidence ever provided is "when you die" and you have the guts to term me delusional.

I am glad that today I better understand the culture, historical context, limited knowledge of those Hebraic people living in Northern Palestine 3000 years ago who came from a polytheistic tradition and choose Yahweh as their primary deity (as he was a war God) in their desperate goal to become a great nation.
In times of prosperity and peace, they always slipped back into polytheism. Whenever their ass was handed to them in battle by the far greater empires around them, they felt it was Yahweh punishing them for not being devoted only to him and re-affirmed their commitment to him. The Babylonian Exile cemented this for the last time and they became 100% monotheistic, out of deep regret, shame, desperation for favor. That was when they wrote most of the Old Testament to affirm this.
Once I understood their experience is THEIR experience and realized it has NOTHING to do with MY experience, nor should I put THEIR experience above that of any other culture as ABSOLUTE truth, it was very freeing.
A people's epic retelling of their "Birth of a Nation", often with a mythological mix of fantastical events with bits of actual history, is JUST THAT. It is sad it has been given prominence to the point of erasing other people's cultures and their ancestral stories, because of Christian colonialism.

Bro, I weak for here aswear. I have a friend on Facebook who is resident in England and has many Jews as friends. Whenever we talk, he tells me how most of them don't even take these stories or Judaism that birthed both Christianity and Islam as serious as Africans take them. Whenever I come on here and see people arguing about what the bible says or what it doesn't, I can't help but marvel. As in, people actually think a god wrote the book? In this age and time?

With the amount of information and research practically littering the cyberspace on the history of Judaism, comparative religion and the influence of many ancient religions that existed before Judaism on the religion itself, I really don't know how hard it is to connect the dots.

Well done. I am impressed. But there are core atheist that no matter the analogy or explanation you give them they will always dispute it as shallow and weak.

Most atheist believe that theists are unintelligent, gullible and ignorant.

They believe everything has a logical explanation and that science explains everything and anything that hasn't been explained will be done in the future.

Most atheists? Where did you get this stats? Bureau of imaginary statistics?

The analogy isn't that impressive. There are in fact certain god explanations that are solid and impressive but then again, aren't they all hypotheses?

Now coming back to the analogy.

First, I'm curious about how the first baby know that there is such a thing as delivery. Has it seen anyone get delivered? I guess you missed that part. Us on the other hand are certain of the fact that babies get delivered after a certain period in the mother's womb so using that example is actually cunning. The same question goes to the theist, how did you come about this belief in afterlife? What part of you exists after death when the brain responsible for consciousness is dead and rotten?

The first baby goes on again to talk about eating with the mouth, walking with the legs and e.t.c. This position right here is one of certain knowledge. First, the baby points to parts of the human body that actually exists and is empirically provable, so it is quite logical to assume that those could serve those functions, unfortunately, this is not the case when compared to real life except of course you say we are not gonna die and rot.

The first baby yet again talks about the existence of mother/god and I couldn't help but notice the mischief in the writer's comparison of god to the universe, or is that your position? That god is simply the universe?

Lastly, I should mention that the second baby doesn't represent the atheist, at least not the ones I know. The atheistic position is one of skepticism, one of unbelief to allow for a clear-headed search for knowledge uncompromised by puny sentiments. I have no absolute knowledge of the existence of an afterlife, the theist who proposes same has no convincing evidence too, except the words of a book written thousands of years ago. The debate for afterlife is really not convincing considering its poor premise and the flimsy evidences presented so far in its defense.

What part of us goes to the afterlife after we are long dead and buried? The soul? What is a soul? Does it exist without the brain which is responsible for all consciousness? Can you prove this?

The worst part is the criteria for this afterlife. All you gotta do is believe. But there are tons of afterlives to choose from and not choosing yours automatically makes me guilty of the punishment it proscribes (hell). The same applies to the many others. How then do I make the right choice when all I rely on is sheer faith. hnmm...

Northerners had schools, courts with learned judges, dressing and culture. A well established economy built on trade and manufacturing. Goods produced in northern Nigeria were exported to different parts of the world.
In contrast your ancestors were barbecuing each other if any individual strayed out of their village domain. Killing twins and wearing very little to cover up.
So no! the north don't have to change everything to imitate your white masters you so much look up to in every aspect despite what they did to you.
You copy their religion, dressing, food, behavior and then turn around and view anybody who doesn't do same as primitive?
It's pathetic!

Uhm, just to be clear, the North also copied the Arabian religion too. So maybe you should remove that from your punches.

The problem is most people who try to tell them there are natural solutions also tell them that there is no God. Won't it be better to explain and leave out their spiritual beliefs? Most churches also don't teach looking for solutions beyond the spirit. How can someone be looking for a child for 10 years and no one can encourage her to try IVF or others because it would look like you don't have enough faith?

Well, from my experience, they are usually the ones who raise the god question, not me. Whenever I make any attempt to provide rational and natural explanations to such events, the next thing you hear is...

"Are you trying to say there are no spirits? Or maybe you don't even believe in witches. Oh, don't tell me you too don't believe in god." And ladi ladi ladi la.

I usually try to avoid it as much as possible to make the conversation productive but the truth is, it is almost always impossible. The reason is that, these are people whose believes have been woven around every single aspects of their lives, and one of such is that every darn thing that gives wrong is the devil and demons are responsible. So, any solution that excludes prayer and fasting, e no fit work.

Porn & masturbation stimulate our reward centers, because it's a natural part of our physiology & neural circuitry to be attracted to sexual stimuli.

Like anything pleasureful (including food, games, even using the Internet) there is a potential for an addictive habit to form. It's your brain becoming fixated on achieving the reward again & again. The dopamine rush. Chasing rewards used to be (and still is, to an extent) beneficial for our survival, but in the case of addictions, our natural reward centers are hijacked and overstimulated.

Habits/addictions can be difficult to get rid of because of how strongly they can become conditioned in the brain. But an increased awareness of ones inner state, & the ability to observe urges to carry out the behavior without acting on them, are skills one can learn to successfully decondition any unwanted habit (there are many great books on this topic).

I feel like tagging such behaviors as "sin" and insisting that they require "deliverance" only compounds the problem and makes it appear more mysterious and scary than it needs to be. Not to mention it adds an unnecessarily heavy burden of shame. No one needs Jesus or God or any religious rituals to get past these sorts of mental hang ups. All we need is to be educated on how our brains work, and learn how to mold & rewire them in more beneficial ways.

Thank you very much. Almost anything can become addictive when care is not taken, but our religious zealots have invented names for them. Spirit of smoking, spirit of sex, spirit of masturbation e.t.c. Trying to explain to an average Nigerian that there are natural explanations and solutions to most of the things they pray and bind everyday is like teaching a dog to recite poetry. Sighs...
