Today, I just want to share with you what happens in the UK job market. People here should stop blaming people who decide to go for care visa without trying professional jobs.. The truth is the spirit of labour market test is still in place. My flatmate mate got a job within the civil service and resumed. When it came to the issue of sponsorship the Labour market test was applied on him. He was told he could not be sponsored and that the role is not a hard to fill role and could be sourced from the UK labour market. He showed me the letter which i read.. This is just to tell someone looking for sponsorship. Pray for direction what works for A may not work for B. even if the company has a license. .

This is the unpleasant reality for corporate roles nowadays.

I had my share of this unpleasant situation today. I have been with the NHS for 20 months; started as a B5, progressed to B6 and recently secured a B7. I received the sad news today that the new Trust would not be able to sponsor for a finance role because there is no funding.

It is really unreasonable to deny a qualified candidate visa sponsorship because of £2k when the pay for that role is 25x the Immigration skills charge. Applicants should be the one complaining about the £4k visa and IHS fee, not the employer.

The only hope I have now is for my current employer to make good their promise of 1 year ago to sponsor my visa, otherwise, my friends who have been advising me to leave career and pursue care visa would say "We told you"

Due to this recent news regarding increase salary threshold for sponsorship.

It’s been a mind worrying news anyway when you are initially sure that you could be sponsored on your previously salary, only to to wake up another morning and be thinking of how to meet new salary for sponsorship.

Been applying to various jobs (except private), and was able to get hold of band 6 in the long run, but the lower range of the salary still did not meet the new salary requirement but the upper range does.

How could someone approach current or prospective employer to give sponsorship before the new implementation in April.

Would need advice or guidance on this.

I'm in this boat too and it's been very unsettling. The new policy is very harsh on those seeking skilled worker visa. Got a B6 role and HR agreed to sponsor, but near the expiry of my current visa which is 2025. My manager took my case to the HR head, but he was told I'm not the only affected candidate and they cannot change the their policy on COS till they finished consultation.

I've accepted the offer and I've started chasing B7.

Please do non clinical roles (IT to be specific) in the NHS require IHS payment for visa application? Or maybe I should rather ask if all roles within the NHS are exempt from IHS. Thanks

Non clinical roles, which includes IT, falls under the Skilled worker Visa. Therefore, requires IHS payment. However, you can apply for a refund every six months irrespective that your role is non clinical, and you'll be credited with 6 months worth of the IHS fees paid.

The whole thing is very frustrating. Recently landed a band 6 job in an acute NHS trust. Requested for sponsorship and HR confirmed I would be sponsored, but near my PSW expiry. I've written plenty emails, with lots of evidence, telling them it best to issue the COS now because the salary would be about 2k short of the new threshold come April 2024, but they wouldn't reconsider.
It's things like this that pushes people to care work and makes COS sales business very attractive.

The state can even do better. The only problem with this country is corruption. I did my Industrial training in one of the local government secretariat about 2yrs back and the level of corruption was on the high side. There was a particular head with #970k expenditure as monthly salary for temporary teacher ( in a non existing school) and the name of a coursemate, children of the chairman and others made the payment voucher. The sum of #1m was voted to Industrial training salary head and we never received a dime, though it was stated on our acceptance letter that there's no payment but i was shocked the day i came across d ledger ( which was hidden from me for over 4 months) and realised that 60k is being paid on monthly basis into the of someone at the . Department as salaries of IT students. This is just a few out of the numerous loop holes in our government establishments. I keep wondering what would be the degree of looting at the state and federal level if such level of corruption could be attained at the local government. And guess what? None of the directors could sign those vouchers( payment vouchers used for looting) as soon as Ogbeni Aregbe was declared the Governor of the state of Osun. This country is mega rich
