In April 2025, Nigeria’s Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) exports hit 83,370 million standard cubic feet (mmscf), which is the highest achieved in the last 15 months.

The massive increase in exports is being driven by renewed international demand for gas in Asia, Europe, and some other parts of the world.

As at January 2025, Nigeria holds substantial natural gas reserves estimated at 210.54 trillion cubic feet (Tcf).

Looking forward in the medium to long term, nascent projects such as the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline and the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline, could further raise the country’s exports to international markets.

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) was incorporated 17 May 1989 to exploit Nigeria’s natural gas resources in order to produce Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Natural Gas Liquids (NGLs) for export, thereby reducing gas flaring/diversifying the economy.

The company is owned by four shareholders:

Federal Government of Nigeria represented by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited: 49%
Shell: 25.6%
TotalEnergies Gaz & Électricité Holdings : 15%
Eni: 10.4%

NLNG also has 2 subsidiaries: Bonny Gas Transport (BGT) Limited and NLNG Ship Management Limited (NSML).

Another win for Mr Tinubu's government.

Mr Tinubu has also succeeded in increasing crude oil production from 1 million barrels per day under Mr Buhari to over 1.5 million barrels per day.

Yet a group of losers who were part and parcel of Mr Buhari's government claim they want Mr Tinubu out in 2027.

I have one question for people rejoicing over this news...

Can Nigeria, set the price of its gas, at a price where it would yield revenue that would dobule , even triple our budget....yes yield more money for Nigeria, meaning that tinubu won't have to charge taxes he plans to charge?

The correct answer to the question will show you why this is not good news.

They make all these money, yet borrow with reckless abandon.

Because when you rely on the resources you sell, know you do not control the price of said resources.

It's not just Nigeria, every African country is on the borrowing spree...because they sell resources, whose prices they do not control, and whose prices never favour them

Our budget this year was based on the idea that oil would be at least 75 dollars this year. Oil has been at least 59 dollars this year. 80% of government revenue comes from oil...so to cover the shortfall...borrow.

That is why we need to vote a government that will THE BOOKS, HOLD THE OIL

It will be nice a break down of the various locations in which the gas is being explored?
It's very important so to know the volume of gas those who keep saying some region will never be president produce. They produce nothing yet they have the guts to question others.

Exporting natural resources is not mark of development but exploitation of the real owners. It will only make sense if the owners get all the money and pay tax to government.

When Jonathan is the president, dem tie his hands, legs and mouth to make the moves that will let states control their resources?

The funny thing is that if Tinubu make a move that will make the states start controlling their resources, if the north is against it, most of your people will the north and move against it.

A lot of igbos on nairaland and twitter totally ed and cheered northern politicians who were against Tinubu's tax reform. Northern politicians were against it because of the way the money will be shared among the states and LG.

The highest in the last 15 months.

That means it has not even compared to the levels that was reached under buhari, let alone the pdp era.

But the sycophants are here praising tinubu.

CSTRR, how on earth did you reach the conclusion that Nigeria's current gas exports are not comparable to the Buhari years or the PDP era?

Check the chart below for the actual figures from 1960 to 2023, sourced from CEIC Data.

There's no time between 1999 and 2015 we exported as much as we're exporting now. You just love wailing because a Yoruba man is the president of Nigeria

If that's the case, why is tinubu borrowing more money than any president in history?

Stop been analysing like a drop out.. why can't government plan its budget on realistic figure?? Every year they place the budget on figure that they know it's not realistic and tomorrow they will justify their borrowing to achieve their budget.. ...

You need to go back and refresh your memory..a sincere government will budget on minimum figure, so that even when d income exceed d budgeted figures, then the people can be happy and government can have excess..but every year we hear something like oil price fall and can't achieve d stated parameter...who is fooling who??..if scammers are to be arrested, I think It should start from d politicians...they play Nigerians like their is no more elite or educated fellow in d country again..so bad.. and moreover you can only refer to someone you feed or clothed as your son, only way you can earn a respect from someone outside that is your contribution to general issues like this... So if your contribution is not corresponding with what's on ground or the condition of d common man, den you are not qualify to b respected as elder..👌💯💯..ire ooo

I was brought up with good manners and conscience,..I don't allow what I will eat, my environment, friends, or politicians control my sense of thinking, but some people because people are doing it just to survive or bcuz you want to b among you see what is wrong and call it right..it shows your conscience is not more active,.. and d greatest risk you can do to your self is when your conscience is dead..it doesn't tells you what is right and wrong, then that a smooth way to self destruction...
