Respond to hate with love. A reading of Prophet Muhammad's (SAW) life, and the life of his companions, teaches us how to react to real and perceived insults. Whenever the Prophet (SAW) was insulted he responded with stoic calm, answered hate with love and hostility with graciousness. He was called names, trash and even thorns were thrown in his path. Enemies would surround him and talk loud to drown him out when he spoke in public. It is reported that the fellow who negotiated the Hudaybia treaty with him would touch his beard in an unwelcome show of familiarity infuriating the Prophet's companions. But for all of the real and perceived insults his response was to remain calm and ask his companions not to get angry. His logic was simple; even the worst offenders could turn around and become friends and even followers. An angry response would be counterproductive. The way to show love for a person you ire is to emulate his behavior and not get emotional and angry to the point of killing someone or getting killed. Those who promote this type of angry response need to go back and read and reflect on the Seerah (Biography) of the Prophet (SAW). The strongest among people, he taught, is one who can overcome anger. The near deification of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) The visceral reaction some Muslims have to denigration of the Prophet (SAW) may have to do with how his persona is looked upon by many Muslims. As seen in the yearly Milad-un-Nabi celebrations amongst South Asians, the veneration of the Prophet (SAW) reaches the level of near deification. He is the perfect man (insane-e-Kamil), sinless and flawless. The sinless part is true but there were minor errors that the Qur'an alludes to as in the Chapter "He Frowned" (Abasa). I have met intelligent, educated folks who with a straight face have stated that Prophet Muhammad (SAW) is alive and also present (Hazir wa Nazir) and listening to the supplications of his followers. This cult like veneration of Prophet Muhammad(SAW) that includes periodic viewing of his hair, is exactly the opposite of how he wanted to be ed. That is why he was so against any depiction of him in art or sculpture. He was fearful of being turned in to a deity. There are no renderings of him but the veneration that is behind the blasphemy laws in several Muslim countries belies his hope to be viewed and followed as a human. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) human. One can almost hear the Prophet's (SAW) protestation as recorded in the Qur'an; "Say: I am only a mortal like you (Qul innama ana basharun mithlukum). My Lord inspireth in me that your God is only One God. And whoever hopeth for the meeting with his Lord, let him do righteous work, and make none share of the worship due unto his Lord." (Qur'an 18:110) The Qur'an repeatedly stresses his mortality; "Muhammad(SAW) is no more than an Apostle. Apostles before him have ed away. If he dies or is slain, will ye then turn on your heels? And he who turneth on his heels shall not in the least injure Allah. And Allah will soon reward the grateful." (Qur'an 3:144) Abu Bakr in his wise and poignant speech at the Prophet's(SAW) death made this point clear; "O men, If you have been worshipping Muhammad (SAW), then know that Muhammad (SAW) is dead. But if you have been worshipping Allah (SWT), then know that Allah (SWT) is living and never dies." The Qur'an points out that not just Prophet Muhammad (SAW) but all of the messengers were human; "And We sent none before thee, but men to whom We made revelation -- question the People of the Remembrance, if you do not know -- nor did We fashion them as bodies that ate not food, neither were they immortal." (Qur'an 21:7- ![]() The Qur'an makes it clear that he is not an angel, or an incarnation of God but a human being who would live and die like other humans ; "What kept men back from Belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said "Has Allah (SWT) sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger? Say "If there were settled, on earth angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for an messenger." (Qur'an 17:94-95) A thoroughly modern argument. In the same vain Allah (SWT) avoids giving him the type of supernatural miracles that were given to earlier messengers. "They say: "We shall not believe in thee, until thou cause spring to gush forth for us from the earth. Or (until) thou have a garden of date trees and vines, and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst, carrying abundant water. Or thou cause the sky to fall in pieces, as thou sayest (will happen), against us; or thou bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face. Or thou have a house adorned with gold, or thou mount a ladder right into the skies. No, we shall not even believe in thy mounting until thou send down to us a book that we could read. Say: "Glory to my Lord! Am I aught but a man, a messenger?" (Qur'an 17:90-93) When people asked the Prophet to show "signs" to his claim to messenger hood, the Qur'an uses thoroughly modern arguments to the presence of a purposeful and divine design for human existence. It repeatedly draws our attention to the balance in nature and the marvel of our own creation; when nature itself is so miraculous, the argument goes, why do we need supernatural miracles? Much to emulate in the Prophet's life. The excessive veneration of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) and the violence as a way of showing devotion to the Prophet (SAW) shreds these Qura'nic teachings and Seerah lessons. Muslims need to love and respect him, analyze his acts, learn from his words and emulate him the best they can. Muslims are particularly fortunate to have the example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) to emulate. The various phases his life went through make it easier for us to understand the teachings of the Qur'an and give us a model to emulate. In Qur'an's own words; "Indeed there is for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern." (Qur'an 33:21) Two such lessons are to he was a human and that overcoming anger is a high virtue. Muhammad (SAW) never took personal revenge and forgave easily and quickly. He forgave even his worst enemies. His forgiveness and grace toward Hind, on whose urging Hamzah was murdered and mutilated, stands as a witness to his extraordinary comion. He was always courteous to his enemies and those who pretended to be allies. He knew that some of the pseudo allies would participate in congregational prayer. He was fully aware of their hypocrisy, but never confronted them. Any faith with more than a billion adherents, over 1400 years of history, varied cultural heritage and experiential diversity is bound to have differences in how it is understood and practiced. This diversity and even heterodoxy is understandable and completely predictable. It is when some of these heterodoxic ways of thinking that seem to become main stream then it is time to worry. Unfortunately this appears to be true with the blasphemy laws in countries like Pakistan. So if someone maliciously insults the Prophet react with calm, try and befriend them, have them volunteer time with a Muslim charitable group, or NGO, or live in a Muslim household that is following his precepts and educate them on his Seerah. Let common sense prevail. http://www.islamicity.com/articles/Articles.asp?ref=IC1102-4531 |

8 Ahadith on Neighbours 1) Prohibition of Harming Neighbour: The Prophet, (Peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer! By Allah, he is not a believer.'' It was asked, "Who is that, O Messenger of Allah?'' He said, "One whose neighbour does not feel safe from his evil" (Sahih Bukhari). 2) Recommendation to treat neighbour well The Messenger of Allah, (Peace and blessings be upon him), said: "Jibril kept recommending me to treat my neighbour well until I thought that he would tell me to make him one of my heirs" (Bukhari:6014) 3) Caring for your neighbours Abu Dharr, May Allah be pleased with him, reported: The Messenger of Allah, (Peace and blessings be upon him), commanded me thus, "O Abu Dharr! Whenever you prepare a broth, put plenty of water in it, and give some of it to your neighbours".( Sahih Muslim) 4) Co-operation with your neighbors Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, reported that the messenger of Allah, (Peace and blessings be upon him), said: "No-one should prevent his neighbour from fixing a wooden peg in his wall." Abu Huraira said (to his companions), "Why do I find you averse to it? By Allah, I certainly will narrate it to you." (Sahih Bukhari) 5) Do not eat your full while your neighbor is hungry The Messenger of Allah say:" He is not a believer who eats his fill whilst his neighbor beside him goes hungry" (Bukhari) 6) Never scorn your neighbor's gift Sahih Abu Hurayrah reported that the Prophet, (Peace and blessings be upon him), used to say: "O Muslim women! No one should scorn the gift of a neighbor, even if it is (only) a sheep's foot" (Bukhari: 6017) 7) Harming a neighbor may lead to hell-fire Abu Hurayra, may Allah be pleased with him reported: A man asked, "O Messenger of Allah! There is a woman who prays, gives charity and fasts a great deal, but she harms her neighbors with her speech (by insulting them)" He said: "She will go to hell" The man said: "O messenger of Allah! There is (another) woman who is well-known for how little she fasts and prays, but she gives charity from the dried yoghurt she makes and she does not harm her neighbors" He said: "She will go to paradise" (Ahmad, vol. 4, p. 166, Ibn Hibban, hadith no. 2054) ![]() Mutarrif said: "I heard that you (he means Abu Dharr, may Allah be pleased with him) have said that the Prophet, (Peace and blessings be upon him), said: "Allah loves three and hates three.'" Abu Dharr said, "I do not think that I would tell lies about the Messenger of Allah." Mutarrif said, "Then who are the three whom Allah loves?" Abu Dharr (quoting the Prophet, (Peace and blessings be upon him)) said: "A man who ..........." [al-Saff 61:4] Mutarrif asked, "Then who?" He said, "A man who has a bad neighbor who annoys and disturbs him, but he bears it with patience and forbearance until Allah ends the matter either during his lifetime or upon the death of either of them." ( Reported with a sahih isnad by Ahmad and al-Tabarani. See Majma' al-Zawa'id, 8/171.) |

For me, I bought a manual Nissan premera for her and assigned my driver to do the practicals on the field whilst I was giving her basic things I learnt during my corp marshal days and my driving experience. After she finished learning and damaging the car, I sold the car and bought another automatic Altima for her. Today, she is a good driver and I am happy for it. My advice ...ensure that your partner learns how to drive. It is for everyone advantage. |

hubreality: I've few questions for the poster; Were you sick? Or what took you to the healing school? Or what happened to the sick folk you took to the healing school during and after his/her stay there? Can you provide sincere evidence of who or where the wheelchairs were rented or borrowed from?Do you need faith to be healed. If that is the case, a mad man cannot be healed in your church because he won't have known he is in th first instance. What of that? 1 Like |

Ebola: Liberian woman found hanging in Lagos suburb There was confusion on Bankole Street, Isheri-Oke, Lagos on Friday morning when residents woke up to the sight of a woman hanging on a tree. The woman, popularly called Kate in the area, was found dead in a black sweater and orange skirt under a pear tree. Our correspondent, who also visited the scene, gathered from the residents that the woman did not live on the street. Residents who spoke to our correspondent also said that the woman was a Liberian who worked in a sachet water factory before she died. While they said that the woman had been sickly for some time, the residents said she did not appear to have any problem with anyone in the community. But after the outbreak of the Ebola disease that was brought to Nigeria by a Liberian diplomat, Patrick Sawyer, some of the people in the area opted not to have anything to do with her. One of the residents who pleaded anonymity said, “We see her in this neighbourhood every day. She always looked sick but people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her.” Another resident who spoke to our correspondent after his request for anonymity was granted said, “She attended a church in the area and her church still saw her yesterday. I used to see her every day in the dress she died in. She was sick and people in this area had avoided her, especially after the Ebola outbreak.” The PUNCH gathered from some landlords, who are of the Isheri Oke Community Development Association, that the incident had been reported to the Isheri Police Division. Efforts to reach the Baale (head) of the area, Chief Albert Bankole, for comments proved abortive as he declined to speak to The PUNCH on the issue. The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, could not be reached for comments. Meanwhile, when our correspondent left the area around 11am, the woman’s body was still hanging on the pear tree. |

Any other love should be for his sake too. The real love of Allah is to do whatever He ordained and to abandon whatever He forbade, in addition to Following Rasulullah ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ)’s Sunnah. Whoever obeys someone or something other than Allah and His Messenger ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ), or follows any saying other than theirs, or fears other than Allah or seeks the pleasure of other than Allah, or puts his trust in other than Him, does not love Allah, nor does he love His Messenger ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ). Muslims should also love one another and wish the best for one another. Allah’s Messenger ( صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) said: “One will not be a true believer unless he loves for his brother what be loves for himself.” (Bukhari) |
