Sometimes you are learning the wrong things. I laugh when people talk about getting paid 20k for developing websites.

Learn the tough stuffs and make some good money.

Recently, I developed a payment module for a Django Oscar project. And the fee was 350k. Just the payment module. You may not understand, but look for the stuffs that have steep learning curves and you will be amazed at what you can earn. Cheers.

Sorry, my forte is not UI/ UX. In that regards, I cannot mentor you. But largely, don't ever shy away from paying to learn. Sometimes, it cuts your learning time and it helps you to avoid the possible pitfalls. Standing on the shoulders of Giants helps you to see far into the distance. Best of luck.

What exactly are u learning! Open source CMS like joomla? or the real stuff? Go for the real stuff. Learn the languages PHP, Javascript, HTML etc. The future is bright for automated operations on the web as is happening in developed places now. We need iphone apps in Nigeria too, we need to automate loads of utilities in Nigeria.

Who will create the necessary competion for the foreign bigwig sites?. Why cant we have a Nigerian facebook? built from scratch and hacker proof. Why cant we have a Nigerian google?

Well actually bro there is no website that is “Hackproof”. You could say Facebook cannot be literally taken over as the way anonymous does with other websites however Facebook is prone to having bugs which hackers can leverage on and affect s of Facebook.

For example in 2020 Natalie Silvanovich of Google's Project Zero bug-hunting team in November 2020 discovered a bug that allow hackers to call s of Facebook and listen to their voices and conversation even before they picked up the call.

As well as a lot of bugs and Facebook knows this so they pay people who can discover this sorts of leakage.

Nope, it is not a waste of time if you know your onions. However, bespoke website development is what would give you good money. Besides, you will need the knowledge of some server side programming language like Java, Php or Python for dynamic websites.

Go for Web Development. So you can code and build from Scratch, with that, you will be outstanding

It's not a waste but a good starting point for something great.
Also look into funnel design.
Organic Marketing.
Influential Communication aka copywriting.
It could help boost your portfolio

To be honest with you i started web deg May of this year and while i was doing this i did it for pleasure and because of the excitement i get when i do things i see daily on the net. I did this for free truly speaking but the school gave me 90k i mean 90,000 and even the director of the school gave me extra 20k as a gift. This my dad thought i stole but was suprised to hear from the director that the school gave it to me.

So in essense guy what am trying to say is. Web development, in of programming and design is not a waste of time a lot of opportunities are out there.

For example today i receive a call from a Man whose wife owns a SALOON hair shop in Town here that he wants some people to order online for private home service. I quickly said to him i can do it. And he said he infact drop a reasonable pay without even starting.

BUT WHAT I DONT UNDERSTAND UP till this moment is why should a Hair Dresses want people to order online.

Between then and now, I have moved to India, South Africa, Guinee and now United kingdom.
I have been involved in deploying and building 3G, 4G and 5G networks around the world

Website was just something for me to make money by the side while a student in 2010, when you did NOT have access to the internet.

Foolish kids jumping to insult people because all of us now have access to internet.

If not because of my tireless efforts deploying 3G networks allover Nigeria for MTN and Etisalat between 2012 and 2014 on which 4g was built, kids like you won't have access to the internet yet.


If me and you work in the same company, I will be 6 times your boss.... If you see me in real life, you can NOT talk to me anyhow.

Great and I am happy for you. By any stretch of imagination (a $700) fee for a reusable and resellable python module just for payment integration isn't bad in my personal opinion.

By the way, be careful how you use the word 'kids' for people you don't know. There are late 40s, 50s and 60s on this forum.

If you knew where I was eleven years ago, you would take back your statement.
