I would like to share that i have successfully ported a Carliv Touch Custom recovery for the TECNO 8H

I have also unlocked the bootloader, made the boot.img insecure, and successfully rooted via super.

It doesn't do backups though. Might be because Carliv isn't really for lollipop but it flashes zips and does other stuff.

Will try to port a TWRP recovery later when I have the time

If there is anyone who might be inclined to need the boot.img and custom recovery, please feel free to ask.

Please bro how do you unlock your bootloader. Have been trying to setup adb & fastboot on my laptop for long now but to no avail. Please I will appreciate if you can help me too.

I unlocked bootloader by decompiling and editing the images. You can get yours unlocked by simply flashing the boot.img i posted earlier.

Well I tried that too but I keep getting error message.

And when I flashed the boot-insecure.img to my phone too, though it was successful but my phone went into bootloop(it kept turning on and off at the experience smart live now) when I reboot it.


I had to flash my stock boot.img before it got rebooted.

Boss, my 8H was affected during a lightning storm and now it's stuck at the Tecno boot logo...

How do I go about it?

Also, what key combos do you use in booting into recovery cos I've tried all known combos..

do you have a custom recovery installed?

i think you should be looking at a complete SPflashtools flash of the stock ROM.

the button combination is volume down + power button. hold the vol down button and press the power button.
release the power button and continue holding vol down when it comes on until it goes into recovery

I do not have any custom recovery..

I've tried that vol down + power button combo before.. I'll retry now following your exact instruction.

I have SP flash tool but it's not seeing my tab.. color pallete is still white instead of green.

Any advice, sire.

this is one of those SPflashtools can't recognize device issues...

do you have USB Vcom drivers installed on that PC?

is the device recognized in preloader mode when you plug it in switched off in Device Manager?



That button combination was to go into recovery...... not flash the device o, i don't think i was clear enough earlier.

You should be able to enter stock recovery and do a factory reset first, might be your data partition is corrupted. it happens on that device a lot
