Size does not matter much oga. The average size worldwide is around 5.5 to 6 inches, thats the average oh.

There was a study that proves this, I just can't find it now.

Average size globally doesn't matter if you live in one corner of the world.
The average size of your country is what you should be concerned with.

Global average size is considered big in China but considered small in Congo!

There are rules to becoming a man. A man that lives without rules is nothing but an animal.
Yes, you must live by rules and principles but they should be the ones you set for yourself.
Why? Those so-called rules you're talking about were formulated by people like you, I, and some random content creators(a woman could be among or even a teenager...who knows?).

Being a male is a natural thing. Becoming a man is a result of training, long suffering, discipline and intelligence.
Exactly my point! Training, discipline, and intelligence can be done and achieved with self development. Long suffering on the other hand is part of the psycho-social factors I talked about previously.

If being a man is a result of upbringing and exposure? Would boys who grow up amidst Trans and weak men be also classified as men?
Think.
Going by exposure and upbringing alone, those kind of males cannot be called real men. But exposure and upbringing is not the only thing that makes men. Why do we see a male that grew up among all girls becoming feminine and weak, yet, another male with similar background is masculine and a man? SELF IMPROVEMENT!

Self improvement is not what makes you a man. AI self improves itself, the other gender improve themselves too. Does that make them a man?
I should have mentioned that to become a man, one of the basic requirements is to be a male. If a female carries out self improvement, she'll be a valuable "woman". If a male carries out self improvement, he'll be a masculine and valuable "man".

Being a man is living by principles and discipline. A male is different from a man.

How do I even expect everyone to understand this?
Yes, living by principles... that you deem fit and realize is necessary during the course of your self improvement and personal development!

There's no rule to becoming a man.
You can't actively start learning how to be a man.
Becoming a man is a natural continuous process that results from experience, environment, upbringing, exposure, and a host of other psycho-social indicators.

In order to be in line with what will naturally shape you to become a man, just keep improving yourself.
What you encounter in a bid to improve yourself is what will shape you; and not some questionable rules that are based off myths of what a man should be.

Most women don’t even have the time to go out with friends nor sit down and watch football all day weekends, and you are here capping that men do all the work. Try taking care of a toddler for just 1hour and I bet you will be crying tears of frustration.

Men do all the work kee you there.

As if we don't have toddlers or have people that have toddlers smh.

Try living in Lagos Island and making an average of 1.5 million naira monthly yet spend less than 18% on yourself.

Ask people working in big 3 consulting firms or big 4 ing firms if they have time time for themselves and on weekends.

Keep screaming.

There’s a 4B movement going on in South Korea, Japan and most Asian countries due to all this male chauvinism. Their birth rate is so down, they are inviting foreigners into their country but I don’t think it will work. American women are adopting it as we speak right now. It will soon get to Africa.

On the other hand I wonder what the Asian women will do if they jam African men who are even more misogynistic than their Asian counterparts. Lol

You clearly don't know what Male chauvinism and Misogynism means.

Did I tell you women are inferior to men just because men do the most work in his family's lives?

Hope the housework, cooking, cleaning, looking after the children etc will also be 50/50.

Being a trad wife is just unpaid labour. While the husband is out there building his career, you the wife just sits at home doing unpaid labour. I wonder what would happen to the trad wife when the husband leaves, na suffer cos no money.

Unpaid labour but the man:
Shelters her and her kids.
Provides food on the table.
Pays for her hair, shoes, wigs, bags, clothes, make up, etc in some cases.
Takes her out to catch fun and pays all expenses.
Pays for electricity, fuel, waste, cable tv etc that she also use out of.
Protects her and the kids.
Available for emotional, physical, social, financial, and even spiritual .

Many women out there are looking for this kind of "unpaid labour".

You're comparing cooking, cleaning, nurturing kids with the duties of a man??
Only pregnancy and nurturing kids come close!

Why do you think we have more widows than widowers?

Good grade. You need to get quality work experience in Nigeria. Once that is achieved, then write the GMAT and score exceedingly high.

That you don't need to go through the study route as a means to get inside the US. Work authorisation is not certain after studying in the US. Your aim is to work in the US, so the NIW solves the issue. However, if you are dead on private equity or IB, you need an MBA from a top Business School. Also, the university and grade you graduated also plays a role.

Which university and what was your grade in undergraduate levels?

That is where your grade and GMAT score comes in. Score at least 780 and a fat scholarship is certain.

Alright.

Due to anonymity, I wouldn't want to reveal my school. But it is among the top 6 in Nigeria(It is a federal uni).

After the MBA, I can apply for the NIW in the US I presume.

I'm glad that you're already charting your future during NYSC, that's pretty an early start which is commendable.

Now, this is my 2 cents with respect to Finance field, Consider enrolling for an advanced global certification during your NYSC, preferably, ACCA (you can do ICAN if you can't afford this) or CFA, this will get you through the door in the competitive labour market after NYSC. Also, start brushing up on job aptitude tests as well.

Then gun for the top finance corporations after your NYSC - The big 4 firms (Financial Advisory/ Deals Advisory / M & A or P.E units), AFC, etc.

Get 1 to 3 years experience in any of these good firms and along with your professional certifications you should be able to get a fully or partially funded MBA from a top university (preferably Ivy league) in USA.

With all these, you would easily break into Wall street after your MBA, and get juicy Finance roles.

Some suggested Auditing. Does it matter or I can always go into any of the aspects you mentioned(Advisory, M & A, etc) just for experience?

As for breaking into wall street, will I get a sponsor to sponsor my visa to stay or I should do what others are doing(find akata)?

Tech rules here, don't make mistake of going into financial or engineering sector. It takes time to break into their world. But with tech, you are in full control

To see jobs in tech now is war.

I searched for internships, the ones is Nigeria were old(posted months ago) or has some kind of requirements that if I possess them, I won't be needing internships.
Remote ones abroad have over 1k applications in few hours. The requirements too were stringent.

Junior developer positions require 3-5 years of experience with skills and knowledge cutting across Web dev, cloud engineering, systems design, devops and project management. That's an entire IT department!!!

I don't know how I want to break into that.

Unless you have a very rich parent, you are more or less dreaming. Note there is a difference between dreaming and vision. Vision is dream backed by actions. You don't like ing but you like Private Equity, Hedge fund management, IB, etc. What do you think all this people are doing? There are all doing ing. What you are mentioning are industries that employee people with ing, law, technology, marketing etc.
The most universal of these skill is ing. You want to get into any of these industries, you have to sharpen your ing skills, become a chartered ant, an auditing firm, maneuver to the teams auditing banks and investments firms. This may give you an opportunity to get into those field that interests you. It appears you are looking for shortcut. You can get that in Nigeria, not in the western world.

Thank you for the eye opener. I'll consider auditing in the Big 4.
Any advice to make me stand out? Because obviously I'm not the only one pursuing Big 4.

Also, at the risk of being accused of putting the cart before the horse, any tips on how I can be better positioned to relocate abroad(my ultimate goal)?

Maybe desperate is not the word but keen like have u even been there b4 to be sure u prefer there? There are many factors to be considered not just ur possible increased purchasing power. There is culture, family, social, racism, food, weather many things that can easily trump a better purchasing power. Anyways up to u.
As for finance, we only have IB in Nigeria not PE or hedge fund etc. And IB as ednut has said is not something u decide u want to enter and u find yourself there. It is not even thriving currently cos of the economic decline. Ur best bet in of what is sure is ing.. u can decide to do a cfa and move to IB if lucky from there. Like pple with understanding of how things work are telling u, target big 4 first..

Since I graduated from secondary school, I have been dreaming of going abroad and I'd been doing research and ing people living abroad.
I was so frequent on travel section of NL that there's hardly any visa thread I hadn't encountered.
So I know about these things you mentioned.

I will target big 4. But I'm open to how that can take me to US. Someone already mentioned NIW and I'm on it but I'll need other alternatives to compare too.

Thank you for taking time to respond Sir/Ma.

Big 4 experience in Nigeria plus an MBA in Usa lands you in finance and consulting . I know ex colleagues from a big 4 in Nigeria in amazon, McKinsey, google and the likes. Dey play

I feel encouraged.

Are those your colleagues in the US? If yes, how did they do it ?
I have been made to believe that STEM field is the way to move to US easily asides marriage.
2braithe: 2:53pm On Apr 03, 2024
Gerrard59:

NIW is easier and more straightforward than Canada's EE. Five years experience with BSc/BA or an MSc and the five years' work experience gets omitted. If you get into an audit firm while in Nigeria, write ACCA then A, you would be qualified to become an ant and get the work authorization to work in the US. For investment banking, an MBA is extremely important, considering you are a black African coming from a largely poor country and one where there exist very few US investment vehicles compared to, say, India or Vietnam or Brazil. So, MBA from a M7 business school or at least T15. Again, to be itted into a good MBA program, you need quality and cognate work experience.

If I were you, looking at finance, I would focus on getting quality work experience in Nigeria.

Thank you so much.

I don't seem to understand what you're trying to say at the emboldened.

I'll work on the certifications. I might start with ICAN because it's cheaper then write a paper of ACCA and proceed to A.
2braithe: 1:18pm On Apr 03, 2024
Gerrard59:
Whichever route you choose, get at least five years work experience in Nigeria, then apply for NIW, as study route to the US doesn't guarantee you a legal stay. NIW is definitive process, while H1B is lottery based, aka tumbo-tumbo.

Regarding professions, both finance or ing (there's a dearth of qualified ants in the US) and tech are good. But regarding the former, you need to do your A. For the latter, you need to be very good to beat the competition. The competition for jobs isn't even the problem in the US, but getting an authorised visa to work. Studying in the US doesn't guarantee you thar authorisation.

In summary, NIW over study visa.

Thank you.
I checked out that NIW requirements omooo😂
