You can but u'll have to disable the new control centre and go back to the old notification style.

Settings>Display>Control centre & Notification Shade>Use new notification shade, just disable the last option and u'll get what u what, u can always enable it anytime you want it.... Cheers

If you prefer stock file manager, format your HDD in exFat but if you prefer your HDD in NTFS, you'll need to Solid Explorer crack version along with the plugin pack from Rexdl or revdl in order to read/write on your HDD.

Your phone is the problem and not the update. You're using a Note 7. MIUI 12 is trying to keep up with your RAM and Processor which are outdated

I've formated to both exfat and NTFS using solid explorer, explorer,total commander etc still not working, I'm beginning to think its my otg cable that's not compatible with the harddrive...

Click on the 3 lines that are at to left corner of your music app>Settings>Advanced Settings> Show ads(untick)
