Around 2018 i was so broke to the extent that it is garri i was drinking morning,afternoon,evening
that was when i realise that if u are taking garri alone for days it will feel like u are not eating anything
i went to a church one saturday despite being a muslim
i entered and sat down cos there was a wedding going on...i sang,use the little strength in me to dance as the bride and groom were dancing
i was observing where they kept the food or the server so as to talk to them that they havent serve me but i did not see any traces of food or take away on the ground
after like 2 hours everyone started going out of the church, entering there car and zooming off
that was when i realised that they only pray and do the programme in the church and dont entertain guest there
i dont know the name of the church but what i observed about the church is that they have age range for there seat like 50-70 have where they will sit
There is another location for that which was very far from the church
i almost cried cos i couldnt work very well again cos of the hunger
i had to beg a man to take me along that the people i came with left me behind
i ate so much in the location and when i was going home i saw people collecting rice in nylon
i went there and requested for mine too in which they gave me
though i did not have transport i happily trekked home with my stomach full
i warmed and ate it the 2nd day
When hunger set in there is nothing one cannot do
i still have the video of the bride and groom on my phone so as to what i did when hunger dealt with me
i experienced a lot of brokeness that 2018-early 2019 cos i did some business which went wrong resulting in me not having any form of cash
i even make plans on how i will spend 50 naira
that is when i realise the best time to know how to manage is when u are broke with no dime but im a happy man today cos God came to my rescue and im proud of where i am today

Been broke can be depressing. I lost my job since March at d start of lockdown. My shop inside school have been locked due to ASUU strike. My prayer is for me to survive this year 2020. Cos I don't even know how to feed for the remaining of d year

Menh I can't forget that fateful day I had only 50 naira in my entire life and was going to Festac town from Ijesha for an appointment.
I used 30 naira for t/fare hoping I'll be back with good news but the result is a story for another day.
I trekked in the hot sun of Lagos from Festac town down to Ijesha with my mind already spending the last 20 naira on garri,groundnut and probably sugar when I get home after the long trekking but something strange happened.
When I got to Ijesha bus stop,getting ready for the final trekking to my street which is like five kilometers from the bus stop, I saw this blind man with his daughter begging, and when I looked at d man, he looked straight to my eye and was begging for something from me.
Initially when I saw that blind man, I felt very grateful that I was a lucky guy,I felt pity and decided to move on with my 20 naira, I would av given him something but it was the last one on me.
Do you know that I ve to trek back from my street after successfully getting to my house to the bus stop just to give that same 20 naira to that blind man? Because my conscience would not let me rest from that moment I set my eye on the blind man...it was telling me, "you can do better by giving that 20naira to the blind man", I thought it was a joke until I submitted.
After that I saw myself crying unconsciously, trekking back home weak,hungry and without hope, but that's not the end of my story.

The following, someone I d never believed will help me, came to my house and took me to his place of work.... Same day, I was interviewed, same day I got my appointment letter,next day...
I started working in that company and the rest is history.

This thread brings some bad memories, but I survived it until this lockdown that caught me unaware, I experienced something I don overcome since about ten years ago with wife & child to take care of, but thank God tinz are getting better now. I hope to be among those that will be assisting people very soon because I know what beta hunger is

it was an unpalatable experience....

It wasn't a funny experience leaving Lagos/Eko in search of greener pastures up the North Central, had to borrow money to travel down, ate once that day through the help of a stranger I met in the bus. I have gone a week or more without a dime, feeding hand to mouth. But Grace has prevailed, I live a better and fulfilled life, have a car, a great job and a house, all in three years. God is Great.
