So what's the difference? ![]() ![]() Anyway, don't think the drivers will be happy too, time is of essence to them and they ended up wasting it in the traffic. Don't know the bunch of clueless government we have. So insensitive to the plight of masses. I hope the governor will do something soonest to ameliorate this situation for you guys. 2 Likes |

Phew! I just got home. My office is at Allen Ikeja, so I decided to go via my usual route. Got to Maryland to meet hundreds of commuters. This was past 7am. All the buses coming were heading to ikeja. After waiting for like 30mins I decided to enter one but I alighted at unity bus stop. I walked the rest of the journey to my office. Closing time! I got out to meet heavy traffic on both lanes (opebi Allen road). Ol boy no time...I hit the road. Went through toyin street > custom > eko hospital > Maryland > Anthony > now home. Took me an hour and half walk. I even got home before those who entered buses. But this is madness. I saw elderly ones and I felt concern about them. How would they go home? 12 Likes |

rafhell:is it today you realised having a different opinion/belief from others qualifies you for insults on nairaland? Never underestimate the bigotry of nlanders. That was how two pitiful bigots(kingrexyl and righteousness88) called on mods to ban a man harmless practising his religion. 1 Like 1 Share |

*Nigerian leaders and their half baked laws* By Agbaje Femi Emmanuel Just of recent, the executive governor of Lagos State Babajide Sanwoolu banned the movement of Okada and Keke marwa from 11 local government areas in Lagos State. This has generated lots of mixed reactions amidst the populace with many pro and many anti the law. In my opinion, I begin to wonder if our leaders do have a functioning brain at all or if probably they think with their anus. Many are quick to him by saying India that produces a large chunk of these Keke allowed them under regulated laws. I'm not against law though as it has brought some sort of sanity and beauty in the affected areas especially with places like Ikeja amongst others but in the same vein are we propagating humanity over beauty?. Many are quick to compare Lagos with saner climes like USA, Canada etc but the question is are we as transport infrastructurally advanced as these people?, Do we have the right transport system, functioning roads and other things in place to compare our selves with these cities?. The last time I checked, the pace at which roads are deteriorating in Nigeria is inversely proportional to the rate at which we are constructing new roads and rehabilitating old ones, our water transport system is in shambles, our rail system is almost dead with no functioning intra state rail system, no mono rail, mo light rail, for over a decade we've been constructing a rail line that only God knows when it will be completed, the BRT buses on ground are not even sufficient to take care of engers even when these Keke napep and Okada are complementing their efforts, not to forget the fact that motorist will pry on the scarcity of vehicle to hike the prices of fare. Permit me to also include that okadas has helped saved a lot of man-hour loss as personally Opay had helped my organization in delivery of materials even when it's almost late. What about the large chunks of people that find solace in fending for their families through riding of these transport system. I'd love to bring to the notice of the government and whoever cares to listen that many of those that ride these transport system are graduates that the government refused to provide jobs for or better still did not give them an enabling environment for their small scale businesses to thriving thereby making them resort to riding these transport system to erk out a living. The list of the negative impact of this shaddy law are just so endless. Then I begin to ponder in my heart do our leaders but the interest of the masses at heart or rather do they carry out a risk assessment of their laws before enacting it? osazsky: You are one of the PROBLEMS on Nigeria. No sensible government will ban the means of livelihood of thousands of its citizens without a good structure in place. If only those power drunk fools know the implication of this, they would have had a rethink. Imagine every bike owner decides to buy a car, is that not even another traffic problem in a state where problem of gridlock has always been the order of the day coupled with the bad roads? 6 Likes 2 Shares |
