My mum Is suffering from glaucoma. She discovered this last two years. She was told to do surgery then but because of the fear she has concerning anything surgery she opted to receiving prescribed medications(eye drops and drugs). Recently however, she has been complaining incessantly about her sight deteriorating and I'm really scared coz I don't want my mum to go blind. So we went to d doctor who told us to do surgery before...but we were told it was too late for surgery and she just has to keep managing her sight like that...please I sincerely need some advice from the opticians in the house. Please is there a possibility of getting glaucoma surgery two years after it was diagnosed.
Sorry but we can't give any advice on this. Perhaps you should seek a second opinion.
I wish your mum a speedy recovery.

37.1 is normal, you should have given para to him
Did the doctor run any test on him before prescribing the drugs or he just worked on what you described.
Is the cough serious that he prescribed Augmentin? Didn't he tell you how many dose to ister when you buy them.
Augmentin is a strong antibiotics(a gsk product and costly too)
Drugs are measured and istered to children according to age and body weight too. That's why my children's pediatrician prefers a syringe to the measurement cap.
Maybe you should discuss with your doctor. He might change it to Piriton
thank u ma.the doctor didn't do any test, the cough is not serious. He said I should go and try it out let's see. Imagine

Good morning forumites, sorry for bothering you with my plights and problems....
Today is my Daughter's 4th birthday, but I'm not happy because she's been sick and has emaciated a whole lot....(please say a prayer for her..)
3 weeks ago whem this feverish condition started, we started self medication on her( I. E)
Gave her a malaria drug and also cefuroxime (antibiotics) on her, we saw it had no effect on her, then we used another anti - malaria thinking the previous one wasn't effective, after completing her dosage, we taught she was feeling better cos for 5 days she was no longer experiencing fever, general body weakness etc, only for it to resurface on the 6th day, we would have taken her to the hospital but there is presently nothing on us, please what other home remedies can we use on her because I believe there is presently on this forum who has had this kind of experience...
Thanks in anticipation of your response

Hi everyone,
Our little boy is 3 months, we had initially intended to do a six month exclusive breastfeeding however the mother would start exams on Monday and can't be taking him to school. Please what sort of food do we start him with? Can he take formular and which is ideal? Also, does homemade food make sense at his age?

It's well sis, try and take her to a government hospital, their service is a bit cheaper. Let them run a test on her and give u prescription rather than self medicating. The little you have been spending on self medication can take care of her test.
God will lay His healing hands on her.

No homemade food for now till 6 months. For now, it's only breast milk and formula.
All the infant formula is ideal, let your choice be based on your pocket.

Only breastmilk and formula is to be given till 6 months. Since the mother will be writing exams, you can get any brand of formula that you can afford. All the best

You can add vitamin c 2.5ml daily and do warm massage.
Feed her regularly with warm milk and keep irritant like perfume or other sprays away from her.
Not sure of any other home remedy ideal for her age.
Running a test won't be bad to be sure it's not an infection.

Hi. You need to take your child to a standard hospital. It could be anything. When children vomit repeatedly,it needs to be taken seriously, because they get dehydrated so fast and it can be disastrous.

Thanks though she doesn’t vomit always only when she coughs after feeding, we might have to go do a test to rule out infection,

Sugar and palm oil but not sure of the age range. Honey is not suitable for kids under 1 pls.
You are welcome.
Another home remedy you can try is placing onion slices in her socks at night. Some swear it works haven't tried it though.

Waow , self medication is one of the topic we keep fighting against on this thread especially on children. How can you ister antimalarial drugs twice, who prescribed it for you? What if is not malaria? Hospital should have been your first call and you've not yet taken her yet to the hospital and you want us to tell you home remedy. Like seriously, home remedy, we should tell you home remedy for a sick child.
Yes, I'm angry with you. The money you used for all the drugs would've been used for test and treatment. Please take that child to a general hospital, maternal and child in Festac is not even costly, that's the hospital I use.
Please

This thread is for new mums not doctors. I'd advice you to go a general hospital and make more enquiries. At least there would be several doctors there to consult. And you should hurry up and take practical steps now. It has gone beyond asking questions online. If other doctors all tell you it's too late for surgery then ask them the best way to manage it so it doesn't degenerate too quickly.

I think you need to take her to hospital. You have already tried 2 different anti malaria, she might need more than just that. I understand the financial handicap but let them treat her first, whilst treatment is going on, your hubby can run around for money. It is well

After which we will take it to the hospital...

I've tried shea butter and a pinch of salt and it worked fine. It's important the shea butter is pure, melt it and add a pinch of salt.
Disclaimer: please stick to one home remedy, take your child to the hospital if there's no improvement.

Get a second opinion. If you're in Lagos go to Guiness eye centre in Luth, Eye foundation in GRA (theres also one in Ibadan) or theres one Catholic eye hospital around Iju area. Unfortunately I can't the name but it's quite popular
Those people will be able to give you great advise
