Hi nairalanders please I am currently about taking a decision regarding my future. I am a 26 years old single guy. I currently work in a company where I earn between 400-500k monthly( salary, allowance and personal hustling)... Now the issue is that I am contemplating on travelling to Canada to study pharmacy with the intention of staying there permanently after school or do a professional MBA here in Nigeria with the aim of growing through the ranks in the pharmaceutical industry. Please I need your contributions...

NB; cost of obtaining a pharmacy degree in Canada is about 10M...Should I invest the money in a business?

I dont have any advise to give you but if you quit that job now,you will regret your action for the rest of your life.Thank me later.

Huh!

Who leaves such a one in a million source of income for something that is not too certain?

Welcome to a country where people still believe that bagging a university degree is the key to success/wealth

Please run to Canada and I promise that no one would miss you.

Good morning!

500k monthly is not money in today's Nigeria economy with 17% inflation and 4% interest rate on average on savings . it is less than $2000.

Proceed to Canada and live a better life with clean air devoid of generator noise. After your education you will earn not less than $2500 in Canada and marry a less narcissist wife that has no family problems and mental issues.

Personally, my monthly expenses sures that salary.

By the way I make way more than you are making but the cost of running 24/7 gen and staff salaries and recurring expenses clocks over 500k monthly. So take my advise and move at the speed of light. Coz 500k is not money and you know it. Those who don't earn that think it's money. It is not.

They said a bird in hand is worth more than 10 in the bush. Think about it. You could invest in a business, nurture it, so that whatever happens, you would always have something to fall back on. Education has got no time limit. When you're already assured of your long term financial security you can then go for your additional degrees

First, are you an Igbo man? Just Orange drugs, Cuteman Pharmacy, Abuja, and all big pharmacies in Nigeria.

with the current trends and dimension unemployment has taken world wide, i would advice you build an empire with your 10M and later get a degree just for the sake of it.

nobody knows what kind of policies in that country could change overnight that would interfere with your plans. Its not easy to be in a position where you earn that much in Nigeria, even some foreigners come here with aspirations to make the best out of our moribund economy.

lastly, education is no longer a surety for becoming wealthy. Mark Zukerberg only recently got his degree. that is the greatest slap a university degree has received in recent times.

Go for your degree in Canada after all you re still young..

Make hay when the sun shines

Whenever opportunity like this arise grab it ..

Your future is in the hand of God...you just paddle your boat to the right way and leave the rest to god.

You Dont know for how long this current job will last but you sure knows that after the degree there will be a bigger fish waiting for you.

if you have at least 3 years experience, I will advise that you go for an MBA instead of a masters in pharmacy. With a degree in pharmacy and 3 years work experience in the field, you are a good candidate for an MBA. Do not go for another degree in pharmacy if your ultimate aim is to do an MBA later.
check findmba dot com for schools in Canada that specialise in pharmaceuticals.
Rotman is no.1 for healtcare MBA:

Check out the top schools for healthcare in Canada here:

I can't speak on Canada but MBA degrees are almost worthless in the US without strong experience and the right connections. A pharmacy degree almost ensures a job.

500k is not even up to $1,700.

That's less than half your income when you finally graduate and start working in Canada

Go pursue your dreams. Some Nigerians will see you investing 10M into your education as a waste of money but you know the future benefit you stand to gain if you do so. There're better opportunities in Canada when compared to Nigeria.

Go for it!.
