Reno Omokri Challenges Critics: Coastal Highways Worldwide Rarely Have Full-Length Street Lighting

Reno Omokri, former presidential spokesperson together with a team of journalists from various media organisations, have, in a video evidence, toured the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to that the section one, phase one of the road is at least 30 kilometers completely concrete-paved as at 10th June, 2025.

Omokri, who was accompanied on the tour by several journalists from broadcast, print and Online media toured the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway while measuring the kilometers already concrete-paved and accessible to commuters using a drone and vehicle milages.

Among the journalists who ed the tour were those from Arise TV, Times, Vanguard, Control TV, among several others. Others were social media content creators like @Iamgbolahon and @tayoamele who have earlier done an independent tour of the highway with drone footages.

The tour which began from the start of the coastal highway at Ahmadu Bellow Way to the Lekki Free Trade Zone measured a total of approximately 55 Kilometers. This is further validated by the measurement markings by the Highway construction engineers as shown in pictures and video evidence below. Meanwhile, this 55kms comprises of both the paved and unpaved parts of the highway.

However, calculating the concrete-paved sections of the highway from the total of 55kms in the phase 1 section 1 of the highway revealed that about 30kms is fully paved.

Below it the detailed breakdown:

The tour authoritatively shows that out of the total of 55kms, the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway measures 20kms fully paved from Ahmadu Bellow Way to Okun-Ajah. Then, 2.5kms from Lekki Free Trade Zone through Orimedo Roundabout back to Eleko Central. Additionally, it measures 7.5kms from between Eleko Central and going back to Okun-Ajah. Although the paved sections of the highway extends further beyond the measured distance of 30kms, the tour was able to ascertain that the Federal Government has indeed completed at least 30kms of the first phase of the road.

The remaining parts of the 55kms, after deducting the over 30kms fully paved, shows a total of 22kms unpaved. This comprises of 17kms unpaved from Okun-Aja to Eleko Central and between Eleko Central to some parts of Orimedo.

Despite these, the tour observed that work is still earnestly ongoing on the entire coastal highway.

Briefing newsmen during the tour, Reno Omokri who is also the number one bestselling author and major advocate of “Made-in-Nigeria” drive said he invited the media to ensure credibility and also transparently that his earlier statement that the federal government has completed at least 30 kilometers of section 1 in the first phase of the total Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is fact.

Recall that some critics had claimed in several publications that section 1 phase 1 of the road had not been fully paved to 30 kilometers. In fact, in a post by Arise TV as well as from an online content creator @Objective Media, they also claimed that work had stopped on the road and that president Tinubu only commissioned a section of the road not above 10 kilometers.

But Omokri, together with the team, proved the critics wrong with both video and picture evidence.

According to him, “I invited you here to for yourselves that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway is at least 30 kilometers fully paved on the first section and first phase.”

“Everything you are going to see today is probably more than 30 kilometers but we are just stopping at 30 kilometers.”

“…everything has been verified by the image of the car and video evidence would be given to everybody present and of the public.”

Responding to a question from the journalists while the tour was at kilometers 20, he said the tour “is going to Eleko, exactly at the boarder between Lagos and Ogun state to capture the road backward to Okun-Ajah. So, right now, the journalists are going to capture the distance with a drone.”

While advising the government to accept constructive criticism from the general public about it’s projects, Omokri said ” People in government have to develop a thick skin. I left California yesterday. I haven’t slept. I just took a shower and came here.”

“People in government should not think that people who raise these objections are enemies of the state or illegals, no! They have the right. A lot of these people are patriotic citizens.

“When people raises questions like this, it is not possible to over-inform them. You can only under-inform them. So, give them the information.”

“Under president Goodluck Jonathan, I was the most insulted human being in Nigeria, myself, Reuben Abati and the president. But here I am. I am 51 years old and I don’t think the insults have done a y damage to me. So, absorb insults because insults don’t kill anybody.”

“I came here because I want Nigerians to know that this is actually a very good project. “

On the economic values of the project, Omokri said that the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway will drive huge economic empowerment and revenue generation for both the government and private individuals.

According to him, ” the world bank said this road is going to expand Nigeria’s GDP by at least 12 percent. What this means is that, a plane can fly into Nigeria from Murtala Mohammed Airport and then we have your guides to bring them this way to enjoy our coastlines. And they will. Be bringing in money into Nigeria. And then, look at all these houses (pointing at several houses and estates along the highway), the values of these properties are going to increase exponentially and that is going to add to our GDP. “

“So, it is a good project. Let us not destroy the project. Let us not tear the government down. “

Finally, Omokri urged the general public and Anyone who wished to have the video and photo evidence of the tours to send him a message @LagosCalabarHighway#renoomokri.org.

Meanwhile, speaking on the verification tour, some of the journalists also validated Reno’s result. According to Ggolahon, “the paved section is even more than 30 kilometers."

Superb. When we are praying for an Angels of our life. Tinubu-Reno is a very good example.

Reno was a strong critics of Tinubu and now Reno is among the strong ers of Tinubu.

When we talk about God’s sent, it seems God sent Reno Omokri to blow Tinubu’s trumpet.

He single handedly hold critics of Tinubu to stand still and still so committed in doing so.

Why didn't he invite Oseni? Drinks at Km30 would have been awesome. I like that Reno picked up the challenge but that doesn't change the fact that a km of that road is the most expensive in Africa.

2.1 million dollars for a km of road? Haba!

LoL.
It's like you're all bent on being stuupid.

I just left igbo efon and the road is barely through to new road.

They haven't even done 30% work on the bridge they're building there, much less being through to Barracuda in Adesanya, Lakowe axis much less Eleko.

Do the road and quit with these bullshit media propaganda.

Many of insulting Reno secretly wish we can be as bold as he is in his two-faced lifestyle, cashing out.
Rather than voice out, we turn out to be lip-service moralists

This is what it looks like, when you are desperate, have no job, your belle hurst and looking for appointment. It worked for Bwala so why not try himself. By the way, he should carry Segun Sowunmi along with him. Bunch of no shame billy goats. Posturing for and around the same guy you abused up and down during election and after. @iykenuwa where are you?
Isn't this a testament to the fact that you are the senseless one between us and truly not everyone takes Rufai Oseni very seriously because some of us already knows who he is, what he stands for and who he is secretly working for?
Note: Arise Tv representative was also part of the tour
