I am proud to say my community is the safest in Cross River State.

After years of endurance in the hands of criminals, and cultists, the entire LGA decided to say enough is enough!
We rose up as one and put a stop to criminality and violence. Gang were sent on exile. Notorious cultists were burnt alive. And so many rules to guide against violence in any form was enacted.

We live in peace here.
How old are you?

If I were the man, the woman is going back to her father's house or I leave the house for her. Nonsense, it will give the women to act anyhow, after all the community is there to protect them.

If women also get the same punishments if they're guilty of similar offenses then, I have no problem with that. We all know there's also a very high rate of domestic violence committed by women but under reported by their husbands due to societal stigma cool

Yesterday in my community, a lady reported that her husband assaulted her.

Now in my community, slapping, attracts a fine of 50k.

Fighting attracts a fine of 100k, 24 stroke of the cane and 1 carton of beer.

Threats of any sort attracts 100k and 1carton of beer.

Back to my story, the husband was arrested and whipped 24 stroke, and was made to pay a fine of 50k and 1 carton of beer.
And afterwards was sternly warned by the youths never to lay a finger on his woman again.

He was given a bottle of beer and told to take his wife home. grin

Men in the house, how would you live with your wife after such humiliation?

What amused me was the type of men and youths that came out to embarrass and advised the man on how to govern his home. grin

Sorry no pictured is allowed when there is public beating in the community otherwise I risk 150 strokes and 200k fine.

Was the husband not aware of the implications of battering his wife before he did so?

It's possible this was not the first time of beating her.

He has to live with his shame because he invited it upon himself.

A man who cannot control his emotions needs external force to teach him how to do so.

He cannot blame anyone

Your community gods are women. So it's fine. If only ther were real men. I don't women brutality. Some men will hunt the so called youths one by one. Please people should be careful when handling others. Even the law gets a backfire when it's unsensible.

Africans and selfishness, solving problems with selfish interest, I mean as if you already having problems in your family is not enough they employ youths to drink beer from your problem and beat you up as well

Stupidity at it’s peak, a wise man knows the marriage is gone

That was unnecessary from the community...!

A simple private stern warning would have sufficed.

Now, they have stripped him of not just his respect as a husband but as a man within the entire community.

Even if he changes for good, this incident will remain a stain and stigma on his soul for life.

That said... I don't get what some men gain from hitting and beating up their wives.

No matter how irritating and verbally annoying my wife gets, laying a finger on her never ever crosses my mind... Like, never ever!

If she is beyond correction, kick her out to the curb! Simple.

This is nothing new, I've heard stories of men getting publicly beaten by their fellow men for being abusive to their wives and they still went ahead and continued with their marriages afterwards.

Our neighbours' son back home who's also married was once beaten by his male neighbours for being abusive towards his wife, after they were done beating him up, they called the police on him... His stayed under police custody for a while before he was released, I don't know if his wife changed her mind and dropped the charges or what happened... His employers also dismissed him from his job upon hearing the news, but guess what? They're still together and allegedly his wife even helped him get another job, last time I saw them they were all smiles and looked happy together, even though we don't know how's life behind closed doors.

No. We don't handle divorce.
Our laws says no hitting. No slapping. No fighting. No assault. Be it wife, husband or anyone else.
what about women behaviour towards men? Including nagging? It must be all inclusive

Your community wan do U.S.A and U.K angry

Anyways,if I were to be in that man's shoe,(God forbid),what I'd have done would have been leaving with her,and then show her the exact route that leads to her father's house afterwards angry
The man will only use mouth to declare such command and the woman will never obey it and he cant lay hand on her again. She will continue to live there. The community has already incarcerated the men through the barbaric law grin
sportflex: 12:51pm On Jun 06
did they investigate properly or they just relied on the wife's story and her ability to sway emotion in her favour? this is exactly why i decided to stay far away from my 'wife'. i noticed that people believe whatever she says without second thought. do you realize how dangerous that is? she can accuse me of anything and whatever she say say is presumed to be true simply because its a woman versus her husband. on several occasions people have tried to cause me serious harm because of her. in fact, i have a broken rib today i suffered from the beating i received in the hands of her family in 2019. men these days are in serious danger in the name of marriage and many of them don't even realize it yet.
