Please, I need clarification on the section where they ask, "How much money do you have for this trip?" Should I enter 0.00 for my mother since my fiancée will be covering all the expenses? I already selected "Yes" where they asked if someone else is paying for her trip to Canada.

I know a lot of people are not aware of the amendment to Bill C-2, but today the government announced that claims made more than a year after arriving in Canada (post-June 24, 2020) — including by students and temporary residents — won’t be referred to the IRB (Immigration and Refugee Board).

So, what does that mean? Pending claims that were made more than a year after arriving in Canada (post-June 24, 2020) — including by students and temporary residents — the government will not even look at their cases.

These claims will be put on an assessment hold, and only if the claimant’s country is at war or they are at risk of harm will they receive a formal removal notice. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/refugees/protection/refusal-options/pre-removal-risk-assessment.html

Your fake Facebook visa agent won’t tell you this — in fact, most of them don’t even know that things are changing. What this means is that those with pending asylum claims who haven’t received a hearing date are in even deeper limbo, because it’s not clear whether this amendment takes effect immediately or whether it will grandfather those who are currently waiting for a hearing date.

, the average wait time for a hearing is at least two years, and most people have already overstayed their visas by the time they file for asylum — usually because they didn’t meet a lawyer until more than a year had already ed.

Your parents’ visa application should focus on them as individuals.

They are coming to attend the wedding and to visit their grandchild, and they have the financial means to do so.

Your fiancée (wife-to-be) will provide ing documents to show that there is a legitimate reason for their visit — the wedding — and that both your child and your mother are Canadian citizens.

She will also include a statement confirming that your parents will return home after the wedding as they are visitors just for the wedding and to see their grandchild.

The application can mention that you and your wife are both working (submite T4 and employment letter) and are able to host them if needed, but the primary focus should remain on your parents — their reason for visiting and their strong ties to their home country.

Including your asylum documents in the application will likely raise red flags and create unnecessary concerns for IRCC. ( even tho IRCC knows you)

It's a very trickish situation but IMO No, you should NOT include your refugee documents in your parents' visitor visa application.

Why not? Including your refugee claim details alerts IRCC that:

You believe your home country is unsafe. (It depends on what ground you used to file your pending refugee status)

Your parents are from the same country and may also seek to stay.

There’s a risk they won’t return home, which is the main reason visitor visas get denied.

This actually hurts their application, rather than helps it.

Can You Invite Your Parents If You’re an Asylum Claimant?

Technically yes, but practically no.

As an asylum seeker, you do not have legal status to sponsor or others. that's why Your wife to be is the main applicant

Even though you're getting married to a Canadian citizen, you are not a permanent resident (PR) yet.

IRCC will consider you unstable in of immigration status.

Your invitation (refugee documents) carries very little weight until you become a PR.

Yes, it's always nice to understand the reason for your visa rejection so you can tackle it and avoid the same mistake when reapplying.

I am not a licensed immigration consultant approved by the Canadian government — I only share my personal experience. We all share our experiences here so others can help and learn from them.

I’m not the best at documentation, so if you want the best advice, reach out to a licensed immigration consultant, or you can do it yourself.

Good day everyone please I need advice so I don’t make a mistake. I was denied Canada visitor’s visa in May. I applied through an agent. Is it advisable to apply for Student visa? If I have to wait, how long should I wait before reapplying and how long does it take to get a reply from IRCC for Students visa. When I applied for Visit I waited for six months before I got the refusal.

Yes, you can apply immediately—there’s no rule about how soon you can do it.

But if you don't solve the reason why your first Visa was not approved you will get another rejection

You will need to provide an updated bank statement, as time has ed since you submitted the last one and new transactions have likely occurred in the . However, it’s always best to understand why the previous application didn’t succeed.

Could you share the generic reason IRCC gave you?

Was the agent you used a licensed immigration consultant ed by the Canadian government, or just a Facebook visa agent?

Did you get your GCMS (Global Case Management System) notes after your denial in May?

That will help you know what the Facebook visa agent filled out on your behalf—because trust me, no one knows you better than yourself.

Again, you want to see exactly what was submitted because when you apply now, any difference between the two applications could be a big issue.

Yes you can apply for student Visa after a VV was denied that's no problem but know the reason why your VV was not approved is the first step.

Currently, student visa applications take at least five weeks, but some people have reported even longer wait times.

The first step is to get your GCMS notes so you can understand what really happened and what the agent submitted.

You never know—maybe the agent indicated you were married in Nigeria when you’re not. I’ve seen some truly bizarre cases.

Thanks for the . I don’t think the agent is licensed and ed with Canada immigration but he applied for my friend in 2023 and his visa was approved last year, for visit. So my friend recommended him for me.

I already applied for the GCMS note in May, after the application was denied.

I’m still waiting for their response.

Here are the reasons…

paragraph not alished R ou silease justice the eng of gulain 50F20022271
section-179.html). I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• You do not have significant family ties outside Canada.
• The purpose of your visit to Canada is not consistent with a temporary stay given the details you have provided in your application.
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family ), if applicable).
• You have significant family ties in Canada.

I think this is clear and it’s because my SOP was not detailed enough.. my friend that helped with the application changed my SOP and mess it all up.. lemme kwn if you would like to go through the SOP so you can see.

I am very careful with him.

The reason IRCC gave me on the letter is that they are not satisfied that I will leave Canada at the end of my stay.

“I am refusing your application because you have not established that you will leave Canada, based on the following factors:
• Your assets and financial situation are insufficient to the stated purpose of travel for yourself (and any accompanying family member(s), if applicable).”

in summary you didn't have enought money to show you are doing well in nigeria to visit Canada

(1) for a visitor visa to Canada you must show that you have the money
(2) show how you made that money you have

On average, a tourist in toronto spends at least $300 per day, and this is a conservative estimate

https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/240828/dq240828c-eng.htm

I have explained this before but I will put it down here again
Do you have a valid US/UK visa

if have a valid US visa, so the visa officer is less likely to suspect that you plan to overstay or claim asylum.

that's another reason

1. Proof of Funds (POF):
You need to provide proof of funds for any visa application. Clearly explaining your plans and how you intend to fund them will greatly strengthen your application.

2. Sample Budget for a 7-Day Stay:
For a 7-day trip, outline your expenses as follows:
- Flight: $$$
- Accommodation: $$$
- Activities: $$$ (Explain what you plan to do and their costs.)
- Transportation: $$$
- Food: $$$

If you have a family member who is a PR or citizen, they can provide their PR card or port with their address and rent agreement or mortgage to show the visa officer that you will stay with them. If they are covering your accommodation, they should write a letter confirming this. This can reduce the financial burden on your application.

If you don’t have such a family member, that’s fine. You’ll need to write a detailed letter explaining your plans, activities, and estimated costs you are looking to spend for each item.

3. Safe Bank Balance:
While there’s no exact "safe balance," having more than the recommended amount for your trip is crucial. For example, if you have ₦15 million ( one applicant) , that would be considered sufficient but IRCC wants you to have way much More than your your require.

On average, a tourist in toronto spends at least $300 per day, and this is a conservative estimate.

Look at it this way if you make #500,000 naira in nigeria a month why would you come to spend your month salary in less than 48 hours in canada and claim you want to stay for a week or two.

4. Why Family Help in Visa Applications:
Many successful applicants have family who assist by:
- Providing their PR card or port.
- Writing a letter or providing proof (e.g., a lease agreement) to show they will house and accommodate the applicant.

This reduces concerns for the visa officer and simplifies the application process.

It all boils down to money: How much do you make in Nigeria, and how much do you plan to spend in Canada?

Let’s say you make ₦1,000,000 (one million naira) a month in Nigeria. According to Statistics Canada, the average visitor in Toronto spends about $300 CAD per day. https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/daily-quotidien/240828/dq240828c-eng.htm

That means you’d spend your entire monthly earnings in less than 3 days in Canada.

And that’s not even including the cost of flight tickets and other travel-related expenses!

It depends on the circumstances, the instruction for the new portal is " a new person who has never applied to Canada before" while the old portal is for anyone that has applied to Canada at least once.
