Starnews Over 450,000 Nigerians Jostle For 10,000 FG Jobs Jun 3, 2025 — by Starnews NG in News No fewer than 450,000 Nigerians have applied for Federal Government jobs, The PUNCH has learnt. In January 2025, the Federal Government, through the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), announced the commencement of recruitment into various positions within the civil service. A newspaper advertorial signed by the Director of Recruitment and Appointment, Ogaba Ede, listed over 70 vacant positions, including istrative Officer, Programme Analyst, Procurement Officer, Senior Computer Engineer, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Education Officer, and Foreign Affairs Officer. A statement by the Head of Press and Public Relations at the FCSC, Taiwo Hassan, disclosed that only eligible Nigerians could apply through the commission’s official portal. The application deadline, initially fixed for 10th March, was later extended to 17th March 2025. However, many applicants reported difficulties accessing the portal during the registration process. Providing an update on the exercise, a senior commission official, who was not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed that the number of available positions was fewer than 10,000. “Over 450,000 applied for the last recruitment exercise. We have fewer than 10,000 vacancies. Only shortlisted candidates will be ed. Anyone who does not receive a message did not make the shortlist. They will write a Computer-Based Test in their respective states. There will be no rescheduling, and results will be available immediately after the exams,” the official said. The federal civil service commission application deadline, initially set for 10th March 2025, was later extended by 7 days to 17th March 2025. During the process of the federal civil service commission registration, several applicants complained of difficulties and challenges in accessing the federal civil service commission recruitment portal. Providing an update on the federal civil service commission, a senior official of the federal civil service commission who refused to speak publicly told news reporters that the number of job vacancies was less than ten thousand. The federal civil service commission official further stated that the federal civil service commission shortlisted candidates would soon be invited to take the federal civil service commission aptitude test in their respective states. Applicants can get the federal civil service commission past questions to familiarize themselves with the type of questions asked in the federal civil service commission aptitude test so that they can the federal civil service commission aptitude test successfully.
