Vacating a title isn't much better in my opinion. It creates a gap in the succession, cheapens the lineage and credibility.

How's the perception of Stephanie going up now that she's lost? The first impression is that she's arrived a loser. Perhaps it's why they don't make impact initially when they arrive. Don't give anyone Asuka or Goldberg streak, just learn to imbibe a culture of vacating titles so not to water down the wrestlers and their accomplishment before they get called up. If it worked for Austin and Asuka, then it will work for everyone else.

It makes sense because he earned the title. You can just say got cocky and lost the title to Sami Zayn at Mania, so he locked in and won a more prestigious title. Simple as that.
