Sorry oo ! Things like this happen. Try sell it and make something out of it.

...by the way, you can't even sell it. You know that it is not good. So, why sell it to someone who will undergo suffering again? That would be wickedness on your part.

Instead, an expert and sell some of the important parts so that you don't lose totally.

You cannot do anything to the seller.

@op, You're in a complicated situation. I recommend reaching out to your lawyer as soon as possible. : sad cool

What will the lawyer do?

It's funny the way people think Nigerian courts are so less busy and the judicial officers so jobless

Always go with a diagnostic tool. No buy motor with small problem. Let the seller fix it first.

If you were enjoying the car, I'm not sure you would have put a call to him to appreciate him.

There is no point taking any legal actions on him, you should rather apportion some blame to the kazeeeeeeem.

Put in more money and fix it or sell it to recoup some money you've spent already.

Madam ..You can still sell the car as scrap. Atleast recover some of the money .

You did well by trying to get a car for your mom..but you have to count your losses. God will bless you again to achieve this target.

Sorry for your experience

My guy, sell that car as parts and count your loss. I don't think any good can come out of this situation.

I wanted to get my mum a small car last year.
Didn't have money for a tokunbo so I asked my brothers to help me surf jiji for any affordable car.
They showed me a Civic 08 and since I drive one myself, I felt it would be nice to match with my mum.

My brothers and a Kazeem went for inspection and they discovered the car had a few things to be fixed which made them slash the price from 2.4M that we initially agreed to #2,050,000.
This was in June last year.

They set out to drive the car down to my house before heading to my mum's but brethrens, since June last year till this very moment as I type this. The car has only been parked from one Kazeem shop to another, on some days it was left by the road side or a petrol station for days out of frustration. I have spent above 700k on it all to no fruition. It's been almost a year now and this car hasn't made me it my house yet talk more of sending it to my mum. I ed the guy and he said he had tried by slashing the price and that was all he could do. At some point, he stopped picking my brother's calls.
Please what advice can you give me?

Can I get him arrested or take legal measures against him at least? Or has this become my headache for life?
I need chunks of recommendations please.

We recently bought a 2009 Corolla.

During the search, my wife always went with a family friend who runs diagnostics while I went with a mechanical engineer colleague and friend who is automobile biased and also runs diagnostics, because we were searching in different locations.

We ran diagnostics on each and every car we checked, until we settled for one with "zero codes". Even that one still has minor issues to correct, and it cost us many times the N2m you paid for the Civic.

I'm sorry, but a car at that price, without rigorous testing, bought almost a full year ago?

Forget it. You don buy market.

I once got a Civic at Owode of all places for N880k about 3 years ago when it was going for N1.6m. I knew what I got, respected myself and replaced the engine and gear. Same Civic is still cruising in Maiduguri as I type. This is the best way to go. Get a good mechanic from Oyingbo and thank us later.

You should arrest the Kazeem for failing to do his job during the inspection. You bought the car as is.

The car may not be so terrible as being portrayed. You cannot on Nairaland conclude that it should be sold as a scrap. If people see food on top a person or car, dem go chop you reach bone. If an experienced person handles that same car, within. few weeks , the seller eye go chuck .

There was no written agreement on such but we called him one time to let him know the situation of the car and as well let him know we would be returning it.. He stopped taking calls ever since.

You have no case.

Your brother and a kazeem went for inspection.

Y’all had an opportunity to check out what you wanted to buy and found it to be fair value for the price you slashed it to.

If you want to blame anybody, its your brother’s kazeem for not carrying out due diligence

While it was being driven to my place.
Overheating happened and it damaged the four coils.
There right there, I spent above 250k fixing radiator, automated dashboard, four coils, plugs, oil gauge stick, mobil oil, gasket and some stupid things.

They fixed it, and it worked for a few minutes till it broke down again and I had to change filter and fuel pumb with some minor things because car won't move. After a while... it moved again then stopped. This time it was the kick but before they figured it out.
I learnt the roadside Kazeem had almost pieced the car in search of a fault that wasn't there.

While we were on this, I decided to replace the steering pump and rack because the steering had become stiff and so difficult to turn. This cost some fortunes.

Mind you, like play like play, this car had spent about 3 months at different locations. I got tired at this point and decided to leave it under bridge in Ojuelegba where I was asked to pay #400 per day but begged for #200. It was there from December till last month.

I was told it overheated again while moving from God knows where to Ojuelegba and I needed to replace the coils all again.
Let's no forget there were different electrical issues that I can't even list out because I don't even know what to call them.
But now, the gear is making one annoying and disturbing sound and they are asking for an arm and heart to fix it. It will be one year by next month and car hasn't made it to my house.
It can't even go beyond 25Km/h nor can it climb hills.
Very frustrating.

grin This story made me remeber my first car, bought it for 500k. it was one day, one problem till i sold it as scrap when i japaED for America in 2021. Now all glory be to God Almighty

Bro. Op.
You are stressing yourself typing. That car is a terrible car. I bought the that same car last year for 1.950m. Within 3 months I’ve spent over 500k fixing from one problem to the other until I junked it.

If you have to consider using it, change the engine and gear outrightly including the entire exhaust system. Only then would the car help you.

As for me, I couldn’t press further, I had to sell it after fixing all these problems for the PTSD it gave and the fear of it breaking down again. Luckily, it was a good sale. I finally, bought a 1999 Civic from part of the money to manage till I’m able to rebound to get a desirable car. Then I found that that 1999 CRV is way way better than many of these sleek looking cars. Fuel efficiency and durability is 100%. As I dey go for road, I go just Dey see big car owners Dey stranded for road I go just Dey pity dem.

Please junk it cos the car will continue to take all your hard earned money.

No too blame mr Kazeem, Nigerian sellers go hide anything hide able to deceive you to buy their problems.

You self must find someone to buy your problem car.

The cycle continues…

I re ooo
Allwell96: 4:44pm On May 13
You should have said the problems of the car and seek solutions instead of talking about how to initiate a case against the seller. You spent upwards of 700k, why not just buy another engine or brain box or whatever is the problem.

Honda? That car showed me pepper.

When Nigeria mechanics see Honda, they smile. The car prints money for them. grin

One mechanic saved my name as 'Ejeh' (blood), when I was driving that Honda, I was calling him every week for one fault or another, and he was smiling to the bank. grin grin

I sold the honda bought a Toyota, when he came to celebrate with me, I gave him a drink and told him, he would not be any getting calls from me for the next 2 years. It's 4 years now and I have not called him for any fault. grin

Sometimes the way you guys talk baffles me. So because you bought one badly maintained unit you presumed all Hondas are develish. I can point you to Toyota's that have given their owners sleepless night also. What type of honda was it?

This is dumb. Why didnt u tow the car to your house at the first sign of trouble and then get a trusted mechanic to work on it at our home?
How can u be paying for car repairs that they just tell you to bring money for this and that and you just send the money?

Lol... If she has a boyfriend or husband while all these was happening, she needs to change him.

this whole issue of urs remind me of my woes in the hand of one worthless piece of shit I bought then in the name of toyata sienna.....I nearly run mad.....my estimation was to fix the small issue in the car then use it for transport before I knew it the demon called a car started using me for transport ......once I get small money ...the car will start shouting " fixed me fixed me am sick I need blood .... different issue from electrical, steering stiffness, fuel pumps ,wheel and alignment.....

One day I dey drive ...not knowing the demon called a car had already prepared to remove it's tyres on the high way ....sometimes once I carry Nigerian inpatient engers the car will begin to slow for HIGH WAY ...gear 2 will never enter again.....once the people abuse me and highlight the car will run again......

I no dey baff.... everything I hv then was for the car....I had no peace ....even mechanic oga take cover when they see me .....they usually send their apprentice to see me....I got so angry when the demon car brought one issue of offing on the road ( break and quench ) while moving with break not entering....then I realized tht my village people don plan me.....my money was gone in the car my savings depleted the transportation business game cut.....I packed and package the thing and sold it to someone for warri ....that day when the man wanted changing his mind from buying the car ....I shouted God God shey na like this u dey do I turn mental case .....

Never buy Nigerian used car......
Never buy a car from a man( men with beards
Never buy a car with only one mechanic assurance....they are deceived with money
Never buy car ( felly used from an Igbo man
Never use ur last card to buy a car

Look into the car very well tell the person ur a soldier nd buy from car stand with the agreement tht if car within 5 months give u issue u will return it ...by so doing they will not sell it to u

She should cut her loss and move on. In life, we all make wrong business or transactional mistakes at one point or the other.

It is clear that even the brothers are not clean in this whole scenario.

Witchcraft no dey worry vehicle. All what they are replacing in the car at the same time raises suspicion.
