The only city you wake up by 5am and get to work by 8:30am, close from work by 5pm and get home by 10pm. Lagos is not for the poor

No seaport in Nigeria is operating at the level of apapa seaport complex.

Since most businesses are online, you can move to or stay in any part of Nigeria and be doing businesses.

Cost of living in Lagos Nigeria is high and expensive to live such as house rent, food cost, children school fees , transportation cost Lagos State govt taxation etc.

I left Lagos in 2016 when the centre could no longer hold. I relocated to a village in Ondo state to start farming even though I used to be the Chief Internal Auditor in one popular pharmaceutical company.

Today, I'm a proud cocoa farmer and I earn far, far more than what I used to earn in Lagos.

My kind of success is what I may never have been able to achieve in Lagos State.

About half of the people in Lagos have no business being in Lagos. They would be better off if they relocate to their States and take advantages of the opportunities there e.g food production.

However, one of the most urgent needs ,Nigerians need is the end to Fulani killer Herdsmen.

for me - no

far more opportunities in lagos

also, lagos gives me far more variety when sourcing for anything from groceries to electronics to computers

go to most of these civil service towns and the big stores are selling goods that are obviously low quality fakes.

i was in a top store in ilorin years ago and the toys they were selling are what you buy in traffic.

what you will outrightly reject in lagos and tell the guy bring the original is the only fare in most of these towns

then all you have for internet are mtn and co. fibreone, switch, spectranet - not available

and if your tv, or pc or soemthing spoil it is one local champion who may not know what he is doing who is your only option

on the flip side, rent, land , food, women and social mobility are cheap.

if i was living in ilorin, i would likely be a mega big boy

Not worth it. as an importer/businessman, living in Lagos gives you an advantage.

Lagos is for business men not for employees with small salaries. Business strives because of the economy and population but that can't be said for employees, only 5% of employees enjoy Lagos state i mean those who earn 7 figures and above monthly.

It depends on the type of work you're doing.

Honestly, I see people that lives in Lagos (except few places) as people with mental health crisis. How can you survive and be comfortable in that psychotic place.

I came from PH to that place, I could not stay for 1 week because I couldn't understand how people will survive in a place that mess with your mind. Everything should not be loud and chaotic abeg.

Just visit other state to understand how civilize people stay. But, the honest truth, people that comes from Lagos find it difficult to adapt in a calm environment because they are addicted to chaos, just like one addicted to cocaine they cannot stay without the thrill. Tell me whether that is normal.

If you lived in Port Harcourt you can't easily assimilate into lagos, no traffic and you can leave by 7am and get to your place of work by 8am no matter how far it is from your house. If you try this in lagos , your sack letter will await you. Lag is really chaotic

Anywhere in the world .... the more cosmopolitan the city the more expensive it will be ...the closer you move to the heart of the city the more expensive it will be. The farther you move from the heart the less expensive it will become. N250K job in Lagos may afford you the same standard of living as an N80k similar job in a quiet city. It sounds nice to move from Lagos for financial reasons ... affordability and savings .... but depending on one's lifestyle ...it can be same as imprisonment... boredom and quietness limited convenience can gang up and drive you out of town and back to the Lagos. To each his own ...one man's meat is another man's poison ....Lagos is not for everyone.

Lagos is very stressful if your income cannot afford you some luxuries.
Part of the luxuries is staying close to your place of income, near perfect electricity supply and water, good estate with decent neighbours, enough time and cash for yourself and family for fun. Good car(s) to move around etc
All these listed luxuries don't come cheap especially the housing part and work/life balance, only few people have them in Lagos and the rest are just getting by or surviving.
For most people, Lagos is very chaotic and stressful because they are on a constant paper chase to meet up with thier cost of living. Millions of people in one city struggling to earn a living is not funny.

Don't always assume... I'm not even an oil and gas worker yet. I stated in my comment that I come home every weekend... How can that possibly be onshore offshore where they do 2:2 or 4:4 rotation?

Is a lie. I disagree with you.

They are importers and businessmen in Onitsha, Aba, Nnewi, Kano, etc that are making it big.

These cities are commercial and industrial and also have a big market.

grin the way Nigeria is going… people will start relocating back to their villages to develop it and reside there … especially if your work is remote and there’s no need of ever showing at your place of work.

Only then, can a salary of 200k last you for 2weeks plus if you’re a good manager, and be able to save and buy some things for yourself too
The only thing holding people back is electricity. If people can watch in their 32" tv, what you are watching in your 55" tv, drink chill water from their small fridge when they need it just like you do from your double door big fridge in the city, of which some people in the cities don't even have and their kids can go to school where sound mind and morality embraced teachers/mistresses are, Oga many people will move to the villa asap. Peace of mind is a priceless treasure.

I agree with you. That market that Lagos has, other commercial cities like onitsha, Kano and aba has it.

What gives lagos an edge in seaport. People talk about PH seaport. They are limits and type of goods that you can import from PH seaport. But Lagos seaport. You can import everything.

All seaport in Nigeria are not equal due to FG policy.

Let them work with their state governor and develop their states. A lot of people are better off farming in the states they were born rather than coming to Lagos to go through stress.

Spot on....

I want to use my family as an example, I'm married to an Oyo woman, so she works there in a government establishment, but I work in Lagos and live in my family house, during festive period, when they visit my place in Oyo, between a day, they would start complaining that the place is dull, by 3rd day, they have carried their bags and leave..

If not for job, I would have moved far away from Lagos, despite the fact that, I'm from there, I'm even from the island ooo, the most chaotic area in Lagos 😆 🤣 😂

It is the people who have no business being there that makes it chaotic, everyone should not be in Lagos. People should stay in their state of birth and grow there. Farming is a way to create wealth.
