The Northern Renaissance Network (NRN), a prominent advocacy group championing integrity and transparency in Nigerian governance, has issued a scathing statement calling on Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, former Minister of Education, to clear her name amid serious allegations of accepting bribes. The claims, made by Dr. Sandra Duru in a viral video, allege that Ezekwesili was paid by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to defend her in a controversial sexual harassment case involving Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

In the video, Duru alleged that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan itted during a phone conversation to offering financial incentives to Ezekwesili and others, whom she reportedly referred to as “useful idiots,” to her claims against Akpabio. Duru further claimed that Akpoti-Uduaghan attempted to bribe her to the campaign, an offer she says she rejected.

The NRN expressed deep dismay at the allegations, describing them as a “serious betrayal of public trust” and a “grievous dent” on Ezekwesili’s reputation as a longstanding advocate for good governance.

“These accusations strike at the heart of the values of honesty, ability, and moral rectitude that Dr. Ezekwesili has publicly championed,” the group stated, noting that her entanglement in such a controversy risks undermining her legacy and Nigeria’s broader fight for ethical leadership.

The group emphasized the gravity of the claims, warning that they suggest a deliberate attempt to manipulate public discourse for personal or political gain. “These allegations, if left unaddressed, cast a dark shadow over Dr. Ezekwesili’s contributions to Nigeria’s democratic and social development,” the NRN added.

In a direct appeal, the NRN urged Ezekwesili to provide a transparent and detailed response to the allegations, clarifying any involvement with Akpoti-Uduaghan and refuting the bribery claims. “Silence or evasion is unacceptable and will only deepen the erosion of her hard-earned integrity,” the statement read. The group stressed that Nigerians deserve full transparency from public figures who claim to represent their interests.

The NRN led by its spokesman, Agada Abuh Theo reaffirmed its commitment to upholding truth, justice, and ability, calling on Ezekwesili to act swiftly to restore public confidence in her character. Failure to address the allegations comprehensively, the group warned, could irreparably damage her reputation and the broader struggle for ethical governance in Nigeria.
As of press time, Dr. Ezekwesili had not publicly responded to the allegations or the NRN’s statement. The controversy continues to spark debate across social and traditional media, with many Nigerians awaiting her response to the serious accusations.

She has been exposed. The manner they kept attacking tinubu just because his brother lost was so alarming. Nobody say you can't criticize a government but be constructive about it. They some northerners to try and ridicule the government. Just look at thier evil plan. Tomorrow they will say yorubas are slave to northerners, who are now slaves. A former vice president of world bank and former minister of education could be used to carry out the lies against SP. What a pity on her side.

The security agencies, including even the Police, can easily trace the movement of money from the Senator to Mrs Ezekweilesi.

If they want to expose her, it is an easy job.

Truth is, the overwhelming majority of the adults in this country are corrupt, whether or not they regularly appear on Arise to blow grammar.

Lol, Oby is richer than most Northern Governors.

She has worked with World Bank as an executive Director for years, you need to see their remuneration and perks to understand better, she has worked with other globally recognized organizations and also served as Minister twice. She has made a lot of money and her NGO get a lot of foreign donations.

Natasha Akpoti is a poor woman to bribe Oby Ezekwesili; how much does a Senator earn in Nigeria without kickbacks and mail Senate Presidents send to their mailboxes like Akpabio once did?

Whoever believes this APC government sponsored blackmail must be a toddler.

No be only bribe, na broom undecided
