Dem dey always pick on Doctors as if even person wey get B.Sc Social Work wey japa go dey do Care Job abroad no benefit from Subsidized education. They always make it seem like it is only doctors and nurses that must pay the ultimate price being the sole beneficiary of subsidized education.

I spent less than N10K to get a degree in Nigeria even at the exchange rate of my time, It was very cheap. If I have t pay the $60k my peers abroad were paying, I probably wont be able to afford it

I always tell friends in NYSC who went to Private Unis and paid N250k per year that if I was required to pay that, I will probably be a mechanic or battery charger

Once again I prostrate to Nigerian govt and I am grateful

Every graduate got subsidized education, Doctors was just an example of highly paid profession whose training gulps a lot of money

I don't think Poju is saying anyone should not japa. Anyone that japa and uses his Naija certificate to get a high paying job should be grateful for getting a subsidized education his peers abroad are not getting

My colleagues abroad are still paying student loans and I am grateful that Naija govt provided it to me for cheap

Baba, u dey try renovate Poju speech for him.

The guyman called out Doctors specifically with his full chest and the association of resident doctors rightly told him to take 10 steps backwards and find somewhere to sit.

They highlighted other talking points he should care more about like Nigerian health sector being in shambles; our healthcare being ranked 142nd out of 195 in the world. He should be calling out government for not making the Nigerian Health sector a conducive work environment instead of gaslighting doctors for looking for a more conducive work environment outside the shores of this country.

I quoted his message directly, No need for renovation

I was in America and I sat down with some Nigerians and they started. I told them that in Nigeria, a person will graduate as a medical doctor and spend N500, 000 throughout to become a doctor and they are working. You will graduate from John Hopkins as a doctor and you spend $2000, are you okay? Do you know how much money you will spend?

Which of the above is wrong or do you disagree with. Some Nigerian doctors spent less than N500k to get a medical degree true or false?

In USA you cannot get a medical degree for cheap true or false

But here you are today going full capitalist by suggesting the government take away the subsidy and allow only those who can afford to pay true and fair value of tuition fees go to school. undecided

He said the ones in the US were ungrateful because they had subsidized education in Nigeria. In what way did he want them to show that they were grateful? What did he mean when he said they were ungrateful?

P.S We have seen it several times where they almost always use doctors. No be today. Na gaslight. I didn't come to Lagos to count bridge sir.

Every generation deals with problems in their time. In my fathers time, they were fed for free, they were given full employment with official car after graduation because the population of people getting degrees were not many. In my grandfathers time they were begging people to go to school. Should we insist on bringing back those years even when the realities on ground differ?

The total number of graduates in Nigeria every year in the 70s might be less than 5,000. Today a normal University graduates over 5,000 and we have like 200 universities today

Yet again, like Poju you refuse to talk about other issues which necessitate Medical doctors and nurses seeking greener pastures abroad. I've had to take a patient to Government owned Hospital and I saw in full view the unconducive working environment the medical personnel operate. I also won't hesitate to leave the country if I find myself in their shoes.

You show you are grateful by appreciating the Nigerian govt for giving you and I a headstart in life. If at 16yrs they have asked me to pay $20k per session to become an Engineer, How would I or my parents afford it? My total family networth was not close to $20K

No one is blaming anyone for taking the opportunity at least he is saying be grateful to those who provided the opportunity

That is one of the good things Nigeria afforded us. You and I

As a start by not tearing down everything about Nigeria. You can be critical while still acknowledge some good things that you got from the broken country

Some people all they see about Nigeria is negativity, even in America some people who were born in America and lived all their lives in America yet all they see is negativity. For example I see some positives about growing up in Nigeria while acknowledging the negatives

Others if you dare say anything positive about Nigeria they will tear your shirt check on this thread for example

Na the emotional blackmail wey dem like to play be that. Highly selective and radioactive thunder will fire anybody who intends to gaslight Nigerian doctors to continue working in an unsafe, unhealthy, and highly injurious environment while the leaders at the top siphon the funds meant to establish a better healthcare system.

And he was able to research into those doctors' lives just by meeting them briefly on his visit and find out that they never said anything good about Nigeria. He is a joker. And if it is actually that he wants them to japada (and you are just turning amala on his behalf) he is a bigger joker.

He knows the doctors he met, he spoke to them and probably knows their views about Nigeria which they probably shared with him, Probably heard about consistent negativity about the country that gave them the biggest head start in life.

He has not told anyone to japada. He doesn't even have the power to do that, Some people decided to japada like the doctor at John Hopkins and some decided to embrace their new country

No be say for months, as at late last year the elevator had not been fixed. the incident happened August 2023 o, a year after it was reported in times that the elevator had not been fixed. To think between 2021 and 2023; the state government actually budgeted and disbursed N1.23 billion for renovations and maintenance of the same hospital where the tragic event happened in 2023.

You no go hear Poju call out the politicians and their lackeys in the ministries at all

It's not emotional blackmail. Nigeria and Nigerian leaders are two different entities. You can despise or criticise Nigerian leaders and love NIgeria.

There are people who have never said anything positive about Nigeria. If some of you are asked to list 3 good things which have happened to Nigeria in the last 10 years, you can't name one.

There will always be someone who will want you to run for office if you are popular

El Rufais son was in House when his father was governor

Iyabo Obasanjo was in Senate while her father was president

David Mark, Ibori, Okowa, Obanikoro, Igbinedion, Lamido Alao-Akala all have their kids in politics some holding posts

In USA while Bush grand father was Senator his father was VP and President, his sons became Governors in 2 states and president.
Clinton was president, his wife was Senator, later secretary of state and presidential candidate

If majority of the people like Obasa kid then why not? Democracy is a govt of the majority

At no point has our democracy been closest to a monarchial form of government than under Tinubu's government.
