What i did not understand about banks is that they will have majority of their staffs as contract staffs earning peanuts upon all the stress and time they gave to the bank. Only for that same bank to recruit new parmanent and pensionable staff who has the same paper qualifications as their contract staff even though the contract staff has more experience. What kind of wickedness is that. How can i be serving in a place for over 10 years only for someone that is not better than me to be employed over night and earns times ahead of me.

Ever wondered why there's sudden influx of people especially contract Staffs, from commercial banks to microfinance banks...??
Only microfinance banks convert but with tough conditions.
Microfinance banks pay better and have better welfare packages more than most commercial banks..

Isn't 95% over exaggeration? Besides, I thought they also convert their staffs after a while. [/quote]

Cos politics affects us more than we know. It is one directive from govt that can get banks to starts doing more for its staff. Cos a bank is not a charity they will make more money based on what the govt allows them. So don't be sentimental about the facts

Every HND holder in the banking sector in Nigeria are the weeping Boys.

Theyre the the second class citizens in the banking industry. They constitute over 85% of any bank's staff.
They do the bulk of the jobs and are exposed to so much risks, yet they're the least paid.

What happens in the Nigeria banking industry is simply MODERN DAY SLAVERY.

Contract Staffs / DSAs in all the commercial banks are really frustrated. The descrpancy is just unimaginable.

Tellers do the jobs and denied their allowances and bonuses.

Marketers are given unimaginable targets monthly without any tangible benefits. IMAGINE A BANK ASKING MARKETERS TO OPEN OVER 150 MONTHLY AND A CASH DEPOSIT OF OVER 100 MILLION...??
And if after 3 months you don't deliver, you're thrown out to the street without anything.

This happens even in CBN

No one hears their cries. CBN has turned a blind eye on this complaint and lamentations.

BANKS LIKE ZENITH BANK AND ECO BANK ARE BURIAL GROUNDS FOR CONTRACT STAFFS OR HND HOLDERS.

Zenith Bank will keep you static as a bulk teller for over 20yrs and then throw you out when you get too old and weak.
Ecobank will keep you for 6yrs as a teller and throw you out later.
ECOBANK REMAINS THE LEAST PAYING COMMERCIAL BANK IN NIGERIA AND OVER 95% OF HER STAFF STRENGTH ARE ALL CONTRACT.

Let's assume he is making a useless content with it; it's same with your comment , too. Everybody chooses the area they want to specialize. You could be the president of the comment content association while he chooses to the president of video content association, so if he is an idiot like you said, you are a bigger idiot going by the trend.

Then why is he now complaining? U can see how u contradict urself. If only a person that has chosen to settle for mediocrity that will tell himself that things can't or shouldn't be better. There is always room for improvement in anything in life

In a trending video, a Nigerian banker has opened up about his frustrations with working in the banking sector.

The man revealed that he has been employed in a commercial bank for 16 years, yet has nothing tangible to show for all his years of service.

Expressing his disappointment, he said: “I’m not too happy because it feels like I’ve been used for the past 16 years. I’ve been doing my work diligently — look at the time I’m leaving for work now, as usual. It’s as if I’ve been used all these years and there's nothing to show for it.”

He went on to advise parents whose children may be considering a career in commercial banking to think carefully, stressing that working in Nigerian commercial banks is not for the faint-hearted, especially for junior staff. “They will suck you like an orange — suck you dry and then throw you away,” he lamented.

While acknowledging that some people are thriving in the commercial banking sector, he claimed that such individuals often have powerful connections. “It’s those who know the right people that are making it big,” he added.

In an attempt to console himself, he expressed hope for a better future. “But I know that as today marks my sixteenth year in the bank, God will show me favor — I’m confident of that,” he declared.

He concluded by saying that if anyone could help him secure a new job, he would gladly leave the banking industry, emphasizing that he’s not ready to die working in a commercial bank.

In a very funny twist, while trying to round off his speech, something amusing happened. Being the early hours of the morning, as he walked along the road, chickens nearby began making their usual morning noises, interrupting his recording. In a hilarious moment, he commanded the chickens to stop making noise, speaking in Yoruba dialect.

His lamentation has since drawn mixed reactions across various social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X (formerly known as Twitter).

What counts is ur mind to choose what is right and do what is right. God counts all our effort we do to make things better for others including voting. U reap what u sow. Thats why the people falling victims today are those that wanted to be indifferent about making leadership choices. If votes do not really count do u think bad leaders will be trying so hard to discourage people from voting? Think am

grin People will just open thier mouth and be talking anyhow...some said he did not plan his life well...most of you promised to build house and buy a car for your mum after leaving school have you done that? Life is never linear in nature but non-linear.

Life is not A B C D in that order ...life happens especially life in Nigeria..a single govt policy or change of govt can wreck or build your life but we know the former is mostly applicable. Most of the prayers will pray in church at least 95% if we had a responsible Leaders or Govt would have been needless. A Friend in was saying he doent go to church to pray to God to do what for him..what the Govt has provided already.

When life in Africa hit you ..you will forget your dreams and chase what will put food on the table and pay bills. Most guyz who are balling are into one crime or the other using legit biz to cover face ...you see a young man driving GLK benz and spends almost half a million clubbing every weekend ..wetin were him for see am ...na him work hard . Or is it babes who prostitutes and gather funds to ooen businesses write a caption hard work pays.

Abeg make everybody dey e lane ..Na God get power.

Hello.

Am a writer. I love writing books. But i dont know how to start?
I have the idea of the book in my head, but how can i go about it?

And secondly, how do you publish?
musicwriter:
You have to do what you love, not what will make you rich.

I wrote a book 8 years ago, which took me 6 years of reading and research to complete. But at the last check, I've sold just about 200 copies. On top of that, I recently wrote another one.

I was about to start writing a third book but my laptop computer developed a fault. I gave it to a technician to repair but more problems developed. I am just waiting to get a new laptop to start writing another.

When I write a book, I feel like freeing myself from prison. And it may surprise you that it's not because I like writing per se but because I like sharing the type of information I write about.

By the way, I've put out all the books out there for FREE. If I make money from it, fine. If I don't, fine.

Do something you like.

Full staff or contract staff?
Osanoghodua1:
I ed the banking sector and resigned in less than 2yrs because I saw no future there and besides I sometimes go to work on Sundays to set up equipment for training and manage too many files and correspondence.
I said "this is not what I want in life" I thank God for helping me take that bold step then.

Are you still in the banking job?
higgs:
My advice to all young employees ,whether bankers or not is: save your money. If this guy had a culture of savings,he won't be feeling so cheated.I also did banking for more than 15 years and I have no regrets.

You are not a contract staff na. That is why you progressed!
Focusmind:
Content creators. Commercial banks remains one of the highest paying institutions in Nigeria, where any focused graduate could learn, earn and develop lots of capabilities. The banking system nurtured me within the period I was there and what I earned provided the capital that I invested and continued to reap from, years after I left the system. How many organisations in Nigeria can pay a newly recruited graduate trainee up to N180k to N250k? Work in the banking sector, endure the stress, learn as much as you can, save wisely and leave when you have fully developed yourself, became an authority in one niche and have invested and saved.

I worked for 18 years with a commercial bank. Started as an Executive Trainee (Teller) and was a Manager leading a team in IT when I left. I only spent 3 years in operations before the opportunity to move to IT came up and I was prepared for it. Before the IT opportunity came, as a teller, I had volunteered to be the branch's IT rep helping with the IT stuff that wasn't too complicated. This gave me the opportunity to get some basic IT training. I also became a trainer for other tellers ing the bank and all this brought me into the spotlight.
I agree there are limited opportunities to grow in the bank but there are people who still have it good without having any connections. Diligence on the job pays big time and for those in the faith, keeping your connection with God intact also matters as His voice was a constant guide for me throughout my career. It allowed me to take the risky step of walking away from the job as I knew my time there had come to an end and holding on to that job would not benefit me in the long run.
Just writing this to encourage anyone like me to just keep putting in your best and trust God as He always comes through at the exact right time. Still in IT now but a totally different sector that is less stressful and allows me to work fully from home (with much better pay).
For the contract staff, I saw quite a number of contract staff get converted to full staff (after a very long time) and some of them are still doing very well in the bank I left. I agree it was a very unfair practice keeping them on as contract staff for so long but there are some genuine cases where the affected staff are not prepared for the opportunity to move/ convert. Just my one kobo...
