That heartland team need to be stable. This week they will play a fantastic game, the upper week, the will be throwing away chances upon chances and end up loosing the game.
EA should just try to keep them in NPFL, then he can restructure and vie for continental spot next season

Someone was saying something about Kanu Papilo that he’s the kinda player that creates space and open defence for the team when he was with the GWG even tho he didn’t score tons of goals..

Papilo is one of the greatest Nigeria player and let’s put Some Respect on his name

This is it right here👇

Until we are humble enough to appreciate what is working and build on it nothing will change as you can’t build nothing on nothing. There are one or two positives from even this current coach that I never ed initially but we can start from there. But if we throw him out again we will continue to go backwards. Chelle is an attacking minded coach, why don’t we just start building right away!

Good win for heartland, pls we need to have a review of Ikorodu United fc coach, the man also is doing a yeoman job.

Ikorodu fc a league debutants coaching crew

Even more impressive when you consider he didn't start the job from scratch but was brought in after their coach resigned. They were bottom of the league and now CAF continental tournament contenders.

I'm overall very impressed with the entire Ikorodu project, cause they've given as it were a more sustainable pattern for private interests on how to run a private club in the NWFL. They didn't go on a Spending spree like Sporting Lagos cause they obviously didn't have deep pockets, but scouted for talents at the grassroot and from the NNL and it's interesting to see what they have achieved with that.

My concern however is sustainability. They obviously don't pay these players enough to wade off rival or foreign interest. Pretty sure a large chunk of their roster will be poached by other NPFL teams and foreign interest at the end of the season. The task in front of them is to see how they can build a sustainable system that will work for them.

This is not about Chelle oo per se. It's about our football istration.
My issue is that we lack the ability to plan and implement long term. See Morocco is now positioning itself to be a football powerhouse in Africa. It's not on the pitch. It's about policy. We don't have any.

We the fans and the media are not also interested in long term planning with our win at all cost mentality, no matter what we achieve we must find excuses to demonise coaches and players hence we keep chopping off coaches and players, listen to the video you posted na the dude complain about the way we mount pressure for players to be invited once we think they are good in Europe. How much do we care for the long term? We also retire some of our good legs too early which causes imbalance in the team. It’s a whole lot to consider here

He touched on several key issues. I just keep wondering whether those at the helm don't see these things

That's expected from such a young team. Especially when everyone knows how good they are and pack the bus.

Sharp sharp. I don't see us getting it right anytime soon. It's the players that often suffer when we lose and the fans pile on them

Kanu would have been perfect for today's modern game. He is what I categorize the deep lying striker. I always wondered what happened that Nigeria produced so many bright tactical players like Siasia, Oliseh, Kanu, Celestine Babayaro, Finidi George.

I reading that Segun Odegbami used Oliseh's highlight clip on his Super Eagles debut for years to carry out tactical training for players.

I wonder why it all disappeared.

If there is any match of Nigeria I want to watch again, it is Nigeria vs Ireland in Nigeria 99. That was my best display of Pius Ikedia.

Kai that match made fans cried that night....all Oliseh needed was simple tackling but experience failed him,Italy down with 10 men,not using Siasia affected us...Okocha was playing to the gallery and funny with Okocha,Oliseh starting,Adepoju and Oliha later came from the bench,Italy team seized our midfield despite the red card to Zola.

I hate watching this match

We can't achieve much success if the whole unit isn't developing. Sports is all round, medical, structure, branding etc and most importantly psychological.

It has been obvious this key aspect of sports has been left out of our current national teams set up.

The current generation of National teams don't understand and believe what it takes to wear any national team shirt. They don't, it's starts from the first day you get an invitation.

I during my NDA days in Mogadishu battalion, Moga as they call us then never loose, we train twice as others and it is drummed into your body, mind and soul from day one when you get into the academy talk more about seeing your posting to Mogadishu battalion.

This was all we needed to fuel our body and determination and I doubt current national teams are structured this way.

USA'94 is pardonable because of a lack of experience, but do you see '98? That one was criminal

98 was total mismanagement and atrocious preparation. It is still what we suffer today. Little to no competition to the regular first team players. Also lack of patience in team building.

It’s what we keep talking about; building on previous successes. USA 94 as first timers was a success especially with the Afcon 94 win but still we couldn’t manage success. We threw the coaching crew of the 94 team away and blame game started. Even success of Atlanta 96, we couldn’t translate or manage it to 98, we threw away everything. It’s still happening now
