The Federal Government has expressed its for the right of citizens, particularly young people, to protest, acknowledging their grievances and the importance of free expression.

However, the government issued a stern warning against any form of destruction of national infrastructure during protests, emphasising the need for peaceful demonstrations.

This statement was made by the Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, in Abuja on Monday, in response to questions from Vanguard.

Olawande noted that while the government recognises the validity of the issues raised by protesters, it is crucial for demonstrations to remain peaceful and not escalate into violence or the destruction of public property.

Voicing his for the right to protest, Olawande even mentioned that, had he the time, he would have ed the protests himself.

He said, “Everyone has the right to protest. In fact, if I had the time, I would the protest myself. There is freedom of expression for all. The young people who are protesting have valid reasons—they see certain issues and feel the need to speak up. That’s why they are taking to the streets.

“However, while exercising this right, let it not escalate into something else. We will not allow anyone to destroy the infrastructural developments that our economy and the progress we’ve made in this country.

“Yes, you have the right to speak, to come out and make your voice heard—even to stand by the roadside—but do not block the roads. Find a peaceful way to express your concerns; people will listen. If I have the opportunity, I’ll be there to speak with them as well.

“Protesting is a normal part of any society, and we are here to listen. No government is saying you shouldn’t protest—but there must be limits and a sense of responsibility.”

FG should be ready to protect the protesters from any police brutality.

That is the only way to show you the protest.

Once they see threats aren’t work, they cave in and start to form care for National infrastructure.

Una get luck say Obidients are not interested in the shenanigans called protest.

Tinubu will be defeated at the polling booth.

And this time, not even a Seyi Tinubu as Eye Neck chairman can save his leaky ass.

This is a balanced approach from the FG.

Its commendable they recognize the right to protest while also calling for peace.

Hope the protesters will heed the call and not engage in violence.

No nationalists would involve Obidients in their protest. Law and order is not in the motto of the Obidients but chaos and confusion

Contrary to ur postulation, the FG is 10 steps ahead of u 'emergency nigerians'.
Your fuel is 'DEFIANCE!'. You are strengthened when the authority come against you.

The govt have seen ur achilles heels. Instead of confronting u, they play along with you- an action you have no plan-B against.

Didn't u see how d FG doused the delta state nursing 'uprising'? Thet sided with the students, and the results is left for all to see.

Politic na una mate??
Una go lurrn by faya-by-fuss!

Protest is waste of time under Tinubu, if any person wants a change in Tinubu's government, it is to remove him, if you don't have plans on removing him don't bother doing protest...

I'm against the protest because to me it is waste of time under Tinubu...

Fg will use the police do their dirty work and when it fails, they will emancipate theirselves by trying to safe face. On whose as the security agencies been talking against and warning against the riot? This fg is freaking double faced or confused, perhaps the two.

More so, if the protest is gaining momentum, the FG will bring out the big guns from their Arsenal and use their urchins to disrupt the protest and immediately shut it down calling it what they made it.
