The most useless idiotic US istration in history. A country being led by felon

Little kid. Crying won't change anything. Abi is it this rubbish Nigeria is doing? Allowing its neighbors to owe gas and electricity fees, import less from it, and export more to us. Every country should put in policies that will benefit its manufacturers.

Little Muslim kid. In 2024, the United States experienced a goods trade deficit of approximately $295.4 billion with China, marking a 5.8% increase from the $279.4 billion deficit recorded in 2023..

This is china alone... Let's start checking other countries.

if that is the case and the trump government is sure it is doing the right thing, why is the treasury secretary warning countries not to retaliate?

Somehow, I like that the US is taking this action because they keep giving and giving without asking for what they get in return and many countries are taking advantage of it without showing some form of gratitude.

It's just like Nigeria sending troops for peace-keeping mission across West African countries without Nigeria getting something in return, not even large quantities of diamonds. That's the most stupid foreign policy I have seen.

who asked the US to give in the first place?

from all that the US was giving, was it giving because it loved the beneficiaries of its generosity?

When you impose tariff what are guys thinking. So you except other economy powers to fold hands and let you have your way. You want to export to countries at the rate that favours you and tell your citizens to stop buying foreign goods.
The USA barely imposed half the rate that other countries were charging for US products. The USA are not the aggressors in This case.

Hatred makes people look very stupid. They don't even understand that Trump only increased the tariffs of countries which tariffs were way higher than US tariffs. All the countries whose tariffs are 10% Trump did not increase their tariffs. If your tariffs were to be 50% Trump will increase theirs to 25% so if you reduced yours they would reduced theirs. So what kind of ignorance or deliberate stupidity we see over here.

Because those countries instead of seeing it as a balance of trade, they are seeing it as a trade war which is wrong. They should ist look at the partnership and find out if they are actually cheating the USA before responding appropriately
chaloskyx: 5:41pm On Apr 03
Thats what happens when you make one country all to powerful they feel they are better than you while Europe wont take this advice countries like Nigeria have no choice but to accept what the US has done

In a trade war scenario a lot of testosterone is displayed and dissipated which will lead to nothing much desired. It is just a period of muscle flexing and ego touting. Let's see how it goes. You see nothing compares to our home made stuffs especially the foods. It will only make other countries to look inwards....

He's only advising them not to tow such foolish route. I don't think any nation would retaliate cos the American move was a brilliant gambit - they're charging half of what other countries are charging them... The Next step is for other countries to lower their tariff for American goods so in turn they can get a lower tariff for theirs. America wins.

Let me share some insight with you—manufacturing is no longer a competitive advantage for America. The U.S. simply can't compete in this sector anymore and should instead focus on maintaining its edge in services. Even if a 100% tariff is imposed by Trump, goods manufactured in Asia would still be cheaper than those produced in the U.S. Curious to know why?

Fair trade agreement: Nigeria tariffs US imported products at 25%
Unfair trade agreemnet: US increases tariffs on Nigerian imported products to 14%

Course they will impose more tariff. The US is the biggest market for these guys. Yet they place high tariffs on US goods, creating huge trade deficits.

Before you rush to comment, make sure you check how much tariffs those countries are charging the US.
Checked ?
Then stop whining !
Those tariffs aren't real. Trump literally came up with his own dumb math to justify them and you all swallowed it but he loves the poorly educated so I'm not surprised and stats shows that republicans are less educated compared to Dems

Can someone explain what this means to me in simple

Tariff is to discourage imports. Developing nations need it but if developed nations like USA think they too need it, no problem.
The countries like Nigeria that charge high tariffs on imports (including imports from USA), their citizens are the ones bearing the brunt which means USA citizens are the ones who will be bearing all these new tariffs increment on USA imports.

BULLSHIT.....Remove regulations and cap minimum wage at $3 for immigrant workers on temporary visas working farming and manufacturing jobs and watch the US thrive again.

The only reason the US can't compete is its holier than thou attitude! Democracy is at a true disadvantage here!

Whether generosity or annimosity, the new president is correcting the mistakes......So nobody should have a problem with a country choosing to focus on itself rather than policing the world!
