Hello everyone, sorry for the long write up.
I’m in a tough situation and would really appreciate your thoughts.

I’m 25 years old, and ever since I got an unconditional ission offer my father has been determined to sell his only house to fund my travel to the UK. Despite my repeated attempts to convince him otherwise, he insists that this is the best way to secure my future. While I deeply appreciate his sacrifice and belief in me, I can’t help but worry about the risks.

Selling his only home means he will have nowhere to fall back on if things don’t go as planned. And as much as I want to explore better opportunities abroad, I don’t want to see him struggle or regret this decision later.

What would you do in my situation? Do you think this sacrifice is worth it? I’d love to hear different perspectives, especially from those who have been in a similar position or understand the realities of starting over in a new country.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

UK? It's not advisable to do so

[Hello! Are you an only child? Is the land a full plot, and in which state is it located? Can he sell off half a plot?At 25, you have many years ahead of you. It won’t be easy, but it’s definitely possible—it all comes down to your mindset. Keep in mind, the challenges you avoid today could be missed opportunities for tomorrow.]

Dear nairalander, I need your help.
I got an ission to UK school through PGCE as a physics teacher and It has been confirmed that I am eligible to 29,000 pounds bursary which will be paid for 10 months installment by the UK government (2900 per month). Now the school that offered me a place based on the bursary reduced my initial deposit from 50% to 25% which is 4000 pounds, approximately 8m naira. The school is starting tis sept 2025 and I have to pay the deposit by May in order to process my visa. The problem now is that I don't have 8m to pay for deposit. Please if anyone knows where I can get loan based on this I will surely pay back as soon as I start collecting the bursary or any other information on how I can go through this will be appreciated. This is a golden opportunity and I don't want it me by.

Loan of that amount at the present time Nigeria, well I can't say sir.

Perhaps you can approach your bank, that's if you have a collateral that's worth the amount you wished to be loan.

Also, if you don't mind, can you share the sch name so some of us too can enjoy, My wife has a degree in Education (Religious Education) Perhaps we can apply for PG Teaching program also.

Also, the PG teaching program, can one go with dependant?

Thanks

Getting ission for it, is really tough and I think the ission is through the UCAS. system and being a 2 year Masters program with fees from £25 000 and above, it is not cheap.

at university of hull the fee is £12 000 per year. Is it a very competitive course?.... why is the ission tough?

Many want to study the course because of assured jobs after qualifying, just as many practicing social workers are leaving the job because of overwhelming caseloads and burnouts

I work in children social care sites and get to daily work with social workers in different departments of the service, it is not an easy role.

No, as long as there is need for intervention.
