Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala says:
"And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness."
(QS. Al-Israa 17: Verse 4)

It's not only about the number of life lost, it's about the sanctity of the human life. Is everyone in that number, including the innocent children, a terrorist? What about the several dozens of Palestinian Christians affected? Mind you I included even the number of Israeli soldiers lost in the war in that number—they too have parents, siblings, wives, husbands and children that'll miss them and not trade their lives for a million hectares of land.
While the terrorist attack on Israeli is absolutely reprehensible, and the war is an unfortunate reality that arose from that, but does it justify grabbing a land that is thoroughly soaked in blood to satisfy vested interests? Add salt to injury, mock them about it because you're the strong man that can take whatever you want from the weakest and most vulnerable.
