Summary: A Nigerian woman in the UK was arrested due to a misunderstanding caused by Nigerian English. After buying medication for her husband, she called him and said, "I got the drugs," which nearby people misinterpreted as illegal substances. The police detained and questioned her, even searching her home before realizing it was a mistake. She later warned others to be mindful of language differences to avoid similar trouble. 113 Likes 6 Shares |

Our own use or meaning of English can easily put us into trouble. But the funny aspect of it is that we are used to it. It will take some drastic happening like the above to reset or reformat our brains ![]() ![]() 3 Likes |

She can easily see those police officers. There is a difference between drugs and hard drugs They should have held the pharmacy store responsible too, there are traces of racism in their actions. Why detain someone because of mere wrong choice words? If those police don't apologise or even compensate her after realising that it was a mistake, then I don't see any difference between them and the Nigerian police 217 Likes 15 Shares |

Illiterate oyinbos. Drug is drug and can also be called medication. The other one that's illegal is hard drug. She can take legal action against them if it's true or it's another social media cruise. 75 Likes 5 Shares |

Godfullsam:I do not even see it as wrong word.. They call it medication why we call it drug here. Same way they call a shortleeves tros short, and we call it short knickers here. And besides, why didn't they take her to the store where she claimed she got the drugs? Maybe i should agree to the racism claim sef. Well, na wetin eye dey find na hin eye see. 27 Likes |

![]() Nigerians get coconut heads. Keep arguing. Get there and start proving your rights with your Nigerian accent, slangs, and words. Don't try to learn your host's culture, language, and lifestyle.
