This is not a fair fight. The US has much upper hands. All these countries rely heavily on the US import to grow their economy. Even the retaliation may harm their economy more than it would do to the US economy.

For fact check.. The US is China's biggest importer. The US import from China more than the whole EU combined.

As of Canada, they are literally reliant on the US importation (of raw materials).

They have upper hand? Yet they are importing goods heavily heavily from.

....yet US CITIZENS GOING FOR PRODUCTS FROM CANADA & MEXICO AGAINST THEIR OWN PRODUCTS.

I THINK TINUBU IS GOING TO INTERNATIONAL SCENES TELLING WHO CARE TO LISTENED THAT, THINGS ARE IMPROVING IN HIS COUNTRY, WHILE ME AND YOU KNOW, WE ARE LEAVING IN EXCRUCIATING PAINS.

THOSE HIGHER TARIFFS WOULD BE DEFINITELY TRANSFERED TO CONSUMERS,AND IF CONSUMERS BOYCOTTED CANADA'S OWN, AMERICA PRODUCTS PRICES ALREADY HIGHER .

Nobody seems to care about trump's reasons or probably excuses because of the general pre-notion or anti American sentiments.
If true,what is actually "FENTANYL"?
Drug capable destroying lives and killing people.
Who are the biggest producers or beneficiaries?
Some of those murderers in disguise may just have been exposed if the claim by Trump is actually substantiated.
Now my problem is if Trump is trying to distrupt their evil business in America what are the alternative markets for these murderers in disguise to remain in business?
If true ,then there is a very big fire on the mountain.

For Nigerians trying to save your monies or investments in US dollars. Think very well now, before it's becomes late.

That clown (Trump) will ruin the USD in few months.

The approach of the democrats,

Kill the thirst for drugs in America, reorientate the youths, go after cartel ringleaders thru cooperation, impose ban of sale of military type weapons in America because all the guns the cartel use are sourced from America.

Republican or Trump approach is to impose tariffs on the Mexican govt which in turn has elicited counter tarrifs from Mexico.

Give a fool a hammer and everything looks like a nail. The World Street Journal, a paper that actually ed Trump in his second run for the presidency has come out to call Trump's tariffs the dumbest economic decision in over 50 years.

Trump's professor at Wharton, called Donald Trump the dumbest student he ever had. It is obvious.

It must be ed that the USMCA trade deal Trump just abandoned was the very deal he negotiated during his first term! He got Canada and Mexico onboard that agreement. Now he is tearing up the same agreement he authored.

If Trump is not careful, he may trigger a recession in the global economy. Watch what happens as stock markets open tomorrow to see just how scared the markets are about this . Trump thinks that foreign countries pay the tariffs. But anyone with basic knowledge of economics knows that the cost of the tariffs is borne by the final consumer in this case, American citizens. Trump's tariffs are a tax on the American consumer.

This will stifle demand, dislodge supply chains and force multiple companies to close. Trump's first tariffs against China saw China jettison US sourced Soybeans for other markets in Brazil and Argentina. Trump had to bail out US soyabean farmers with 25 billions US dollars but yet some farms closed down and some farmers committed suicide.

There is no upside to these tariffs. It will only lead the US into economic dire straits. Trump is and idiot.

Trump is crazy. Canada got more import of fentanyl from the US, than the US got from Canada.

No trade war? July 2018 when Trump placed a 25% tariff on Chinese ($34B) imports, China responded by slamming her own 25% tariff on US ($50B) agricultural imports (from an initial 3%). You know what it means?

US was targeting machineries and electronics (non-perishable goods), China was targeting agricultural, perishable goods! Chinese buyers opted for countries with smaller tariffs (Brazil, Argentina; for their Soybeans imports), while US still had to buy the Chinese goods. Guess who ended up paying the 25% tariff... The American people! Guess who's citizens committed suicide... American farmers! Guess who used $25B to bail their farmers... US!

The biggest winners is the alternative country from whom I can buy your products! (Brazil and Argentina in my previous story).

US just recently abandoned OPEC crude for Venezuela. Venezuela is the winner in this case. Now, that's what we call trade wars!!!
Biden left Trump hammer on China untouched and didn't alter it.

What does that tell you?

Same American farmers and people voted Trump back to back.

Africans and their liberal dependency worldviews

Well Kamala warned them about how his economic policies were going to be disastrous to the country.

We had over 20 noble prize winning economists come together and release a statement saying people shouldn’t voted for him because it would be disastrous. It’s not like he didn’t say he was going to do this. He stated it clearly like day and night.

People were too blinded by who was on what bathroom to care about what was going to affect them and their children’s lives

truth is, most of this countries are gaming America's benevolence. China is crook. See what they av done to Africa. They will neva invest real businesses here, but will rather sell cheap substandard goods to us.

I carefully read the responses from Canada, Mexico and China, and realised one thing; they're all afraid to confront the United States. Read between the lines and you will observe that they're all trying to protect their own national pride but also hoping that Trump will negotiate with them instead of threats.

United States will feel the heat no doubt, but these countries will be burned by the aftereffects. However, the world economy will be badly affected generally.

Of the 3 countries, Canada will bear the most brunt. They're almost completely circled by the United States. Their economy relies hugely on the US. They're already suffering suffering high unemployment rates and rising inflation, these tarrifs by the US will deal a terrible blow on their economy. It's going to be tough for all Canadians in the coming days

It's okay for Trump to overtax or ban Chinese products. China started it first. However, the worst person to fight with is your neighbour.
these countries will seek for peaceful resolution, and America will gain a little from them.

Or you actually think these barons wouldn't prefer to be directly producing in America to cut costs and smuggling stress?
Or you actually want American law enforcement to perpetually carry out law enforcement duties of another country?
Only something reasonable Please.

Trump has been moving like someone that wants to start a world war since he was sworn in. When he's done fighting with all the US allies, he'll understand that one man can't stand alone.
By the time all these nations resolve to start trading in their local currencies like BRIC and seeking China as an alternative, Trump would have succeeded in making China the Economic capital of the world and trust me, that's a position China will never give up easily.

the world will rather wait for a predictable America in the next 4yrs, than follow China. China cares about no one but herself.

Finally hit home. They used transgender to deceive people. I have lived in 3 developed countries in the last 25 years. And only see transgender people on tv, but the way conservatives push the trans agenda, you would think every 2 out of 10 people you meet outside your home are trans.

you're smart.

Trump in the real sense doesn't want economic warfare. He wants the trade agreements between them to be renegotiated to benefit America better. As it stands, America is importing almost everything from these countries and getting huge trade deficit.
Mandate1: 12:14pm On Feb 02
tctrills:

Not really. Both nations need the American market more than America needs them. And both economies are way too small to shake the US.
When you export products that are not unique or spectacular, you have zero control over the market but when you are the world's biggest market, you control everything
too many willing sellers of the commodities, and America is the major buyer of their produce. What Canada supplies to the US can be bought somewhere else and refined in US.

Nairaland and its s are one ignorant combo and an echo chamber for liberal media propaganda.

There's no trade war. Tarrif have been used since time immemorial for politics and to balance trade deficit.

China has been doing same.

The Boden istration banned tiktok from US before Trump gave it a lifeline temporarily because china blocks Google, X, Facebook from China.

But they didn't call it trade war
All reputable economists and media houses are calling it a trade war. Nairaland is just reporting it as a forum.

That's strange, but I don't know why Canada hasn't actually confronted America with their facts.
If canada's claim is true which I doubt, then it's more of an internal problem for the US.
If the end s are caught in Canada, the origin can be traced to back to America.
It that case it becomes a problem that requires a diplomatic solution with the full cooperation of their intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
