You have no problem. If any institution raise an eye bow on this, you can only go to the newspaper and do change of name and follow it up with court affidavits
But make sure you use the names you wants to answer to open your bank and your nim.

Go to the court and do change of name by affidavit
And he should always list all names he has ever borne (used) whenever he is applying for anything international, especially for visa.
Our own court affidavit on change of name is not, AUTOMATICALLY, tenable abroad, except where such form he is filling, specifically, asks for such affidavit.
So, OP should always fill in all previous names where it is asked, even though he no longer bears any or all of such past name(s).

Hello! Please I need advice. My name on my birth certificate and other documents is James Chika Johnson. James is my first name, Chika my second and Johnson my last name.
When I was ing for the JAMB UTME exams, a mistake was made in the order of my name and Chika was my first name and James my middle. I was like 16 then, and I didn't think it would matter.
Now, because JAMB would send the same name format to the schools during ission and all, I've been like that all these years.
I just received my certificate yesterday, and it bears Chika as my first name and James as my last.
My National ID card, Voters card and all other documents, including my SSCE results are James as my first and Chika as my last name.
This has never been a problem for me. In fact, during our Certificate Verification at school, the council did not bring up any issue because my name in the school was Chika James Johnson, but on my SSCE certificate was James Chika Johnson.
On the school notice board, there was a note that the Student would bear all responsibility for any error once they leave the issuing room if they don't point it out there. But this is not technically an error because I've been going through my university education with this name order. All my tests, exams, and registrations in school.
Please will this affect me later? Like during NYSC registration or something? What can I do?
. Two individuals are in your picture. 1. James Chica Johnson 2. Chica James Johnson
The no 2 is the person in the university .The no 1 did not go to any university .
Your NYSC letter will come with Chica James Johnson .
I will be factual with you.Yiu are too tardy on this matter. How could you be bearing a wrong name order throught university?
In fact like other persons I am suspecting you for a foul play.
If this is indeed a mistake as you want us to believe which I am still doubting , it will affect you because people will still ask you questions on it always . You are hereby advised to make an avidivat on this.Yet be prepared to answer questions on your double identity. Don't change any name ; just make an affidavit claiming the naming mistake was at the JAMB registration point .
I still doubt your story anyway.

Within Nigeria, it will not affect you. But once you want to do anything abroad with those certificates, it will affect you.
Go and get a National Population Commission Birth Certificate. Oyibos don't honour Sworn Affidavit. Forget all these Court affidavit
I have a similar issue with my names. Some certificates have "chukwu" added to it while others has just the name without "chukwu". Mine affected when I was looking for ission abroad, it was the NPC birth certificate that solved it.

Just do an affidavit that some of your documents carried middle name as first name and you are saved. The affidavit covers you

You're just confusing yourself here. How can your first name be James and your middle name Chika? Are you trying to say that your mum and dad decided to name you James at birth? There's nothing wrong with the order of your name, you're the one who's confused here.
PS: Your first name is usually the name given to you at birth by your parents (usually a native name) while your middle name is usually derived from baptism or a name you just decided to name yourself with.

It may affect you. So it is better you act now by going to court to do an affidavit that you are the same person and that you want to be know as............... (The right order you want. You can go to the nearest high court closest to you to do this but, make sure you don't patronise touts. Go into the offices of the high court and ask for guidance on how to do it. It shouldn't cost you more than some thousands of Naira, may be about N2,500 or so.

@OP.. What you mentioned above can not affect you in any way. The only thing can affect you is wrong spelling (like writing JHIKA instead of CHIKA, etc) or using initials eg CHIKA J. Johnson and full name in other documents
My O'LEVEL Certificates (WAEC and NECO) bear a different name arrangement from my Uni certificate. ie instead of ABC it was BCA, just like you, I went to do affidavit in court (they called it name reconciliation) but I haven't used it till date. Anytime I present it, they'd say I don't need it.
So you're fine bro.
But if you're having a doubting mind, you can go do name reconciliation affidavit and present it should you need it.
Work with this advice. As long as the three names appeared in all your documents correctly spelled, we r God to go. Arrangement those not matter.

Forget, I'm in the UK. Studying and working with the NHS. Offered ission into 2 different schools and I picked the best one for me.
Name arrangement is not a problem. Spelling errors, using initials are.
They'll even rearrange your name for you at work.
So what's the approach for rectifying spelling errors?
|
Govocrete: 7:22pm On Nov 29, 2024 |
You will need to act in time and rectify the name placement
A university in USA rejected my ission due to the same mistake. Here is an example of what happened:
Names of port:
John Ejiro Doe
While on my certificate was:
Ejiro John Doe
Please do a newspaper advert of Name change and an affidavit from the court. After that jamb for a correction. You can do same at the university.
Failure to rectify it now will cause you a lot in the future because, you NIN or other documents will not be accepted along with your certificates.

Young man it will definitely affect you, especially if you have something to claim from an organization, government etc. in my own case, I was advised to take court affidavit that the mentioned names belong to the same person. For example, the affidavit will read James Chika Johnson is the same person as Chika Johnson James. So any time you submit your credentials also attach the affidavit. This affidavit will notify your school, Jamb, bodies and all relevant agencies or organization

name arrangement has never posed any serious challenge. Just ensure you follow the format on your BSc certificate going forward to reduce the disparities you'll have.
When you have too many conflicting arrangement then it bcoms an issue. I mean ABC, BCA, CAB etc. If you stick with ABC, BAC, I don't think it will be as daunting as u think. Just follow your BSc going forward, and ensure your ID cards goes with this, you can visit the bank for a rearrangement, this does not even require an affidavit.
