After the Supreme Court yesterday gave a landmark judgment granting financial autonomy to Local Government Councils across the country, local government workers in Abia state were captured on video rejoicing and singing President Bola Tinubu’s praises.

The excited workers couldn’t hide their joy as they trooped out to celebrate other outcome of the court case. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of the amelioration of the sufferings they have endured under the Labour Party governor that has hijacked the council funds without paying workers that salaries for month.

In Rivers state, as usual the supreme court judgement will have a different meaning.

The judgement will be interpreted to mean that the care taker chairmen, since they were appointed by the executive governor, are recognised chairmen by law until an election is conducted. Their lawyers will be shouting, "the judgement did not vacate the care taker chairmen bla bla bla ". And at the same time, Fubara will be heading to court to get a court order from Rivers state high court restraining the president from implementing the judgement of the supreme court.

The confusion in Rivers state is on a different level

Nigeria is a nation where power matters alot and therefore even after the expiration of the tenure, the person in power still want to be relevant.
