Reasonable and working airports wash the tire residue on the runaway after several landings.

Airplane burn a lot of rubber while landing and if those burnt rubber from several landing stick to the runaway that a disaster waiting to happen

Not sure they do that in country.

shocked Thank goodness! Disaster was averted. Aviation is an inherently unforgiving world where mistake or technical issues can lead to catastrophic consequences. NCAA, AIB, NIMET, NAAPE must up their game. These near-mishaps are more frequent in recent times.

It's amazing the standard of service all this foreign investors bring into the country.
A big refuse dumping yard.
A country where anything goes.
Aviation licenses should be revoked by now sef.
How on earth can some sick individuals blame Tinubu for this for f×ck sake.

This is the wet, rainy season so these random aircraft skids are NOT totally strange because of the wet conditions of the runways.

Pilot errors of judgement can't be ignored here as well. The speed at landing could have been high or the aircraft touched down deep into the runway thereby reducing the available distance for deploying its reverse thrusters and appying the brakes.

Back in 2019, a widebody Air Peace aircraft skidded off the Port Harcourt Airport runway and scene was posted here on NL in the link below, and other news sources. So, this should serve as a reminder to those ignorant posters giving out misleading and alarmist information on this thread that it's a global phenomenon.

Last but not least, the Nigerian aviation sector hasn't experienced any major loss of lives from plane crashes since the horrendous Dana plane crash in a residential area in Lagos State within the last 12 years. Kudos to everyone in the aviation sector in Nigeria for largely keeping things safe, but more has to be done to keep the runways safe for all sizes of aircraft to take off and land. Period.

I hope they won't come and tell us that something was buried on the runway or the runway was built on the site of a shrine.

Thank God no live was lost
