predictor1: Things cost money. I understand what profiteering means. Happens in war zones and in places where strict price controls means there is a black market for everything Doesn't happen in Nigeria So, relax and understand that things cost money. 4 Likes 1 Share |

nairalanda1:that is what happens when 5 of your neighbours sell tomatoes and you decide to them in that same tomatoes business. No one is thinking of making paste out of the cheap tomatoes. Everyone wants to sell and make easy profit. So they all have to may killer profit per bowl of tomatoes in order to meet all their basic needs. That's how unions are formed in some market. Something that can be bought for N1000 and resold for N1100 will now be going for retail of N1350-N1500. It is a form of idleness disguised as activity. They all pretend to be waiting for imaginary customers from places where someone already sells same tomatoes. All because selling tomatoes is easy. 11 Likes 2 Shares |

Tinubu is responsible. We pay more for everything now. So you don't expect less. The retailer will sell and put the money back into the nonsense economy. Here is another news. Has this ever happen to Nigerian before? https://www.vanguardngr.com/2024/04/period-poverty-millions-bleed-in-silence-as-prices-of-sanitary-pads-hit-the-roof/amp/ 1 Like |

Pecoleee345: You have time to be replying these evil and greedy people! You only complained of vast price disparity, and they are all justifying high cost of goods. They are even happy for this high cost. Just mark their names and see how they will complain about government and inflation later. Evil and hypocrisy 25 Likes 6 Shares |

Pecoleee345: Forget that dude, he will use everything in him to justify his claims. When dollars were going they were increasing the cost of their cost goods every day all in the name of restocking, now dollars is coming down they are waiting for approx—3 months to know if it will stabilize before they start reducing their prizes. The best is to go to the market and cut off retailers that is what I do. If I'm to buy wear I order online. 7 Likes |

bet9ja: That was what your brothers at Ochanja market was telling me just yesterday. They blame Tinubu just to extort innocent people. Most of you in your markets are not happy, the $ is coming down. You all wanted $ to be N4000 , so you can continue to blame Tinubu and continue to extort innocent people. Na only Una dey pay for custom duties? What your brother wanted to sell for me N78k is sold in Lagos N55k. Una to greedy for that side Quick money syndrome, Una too like am. The keke from Nsukka to Obolor Afor, I took just around Feb, ran out of fuel. He needed to buy just a litre along the road before he got to another filling station, which is less than 2 klm. The road sellers black market were not ready to sell below N1500. For a liter of fuel. Una to like exploitation for that side 7 Likes 1 Share |

nairalanda1:You just read it up. Thank you for that at least. But profiteering happens everywhere it's allowed, not necessarily war zones. You don't know the meaning of profiteering. Let's leave that aside for now. Things cost money like you keep repeating but then when you do profit gouging all because things cost money, that's ripping hapless people off and it's all shades of wrong. That's too common in poverty stricken places such as Africa. We are just too uncaring. Why do you think Africa is the way it is? It's not just the stupid leaders, it's you and me as well. My landlady who had a shop in front of the house sold me a congo of rice. It was #500 at the time. I went inside the house to get money for her. I came out in less than 5 minutes. She told me the price was no longer #500 but #600 because someone just told her price of rice had gone up. ![]() That's what the op is telling you people. There's something about Nigerians and morality I don't get. And when you complain they'll tell you to also go and open a shop and start selling stuff too. That's always their last resort like you and another person told the OP. 14 Likes |

Most Nigerians are evil minded.. Look at them justifying the evil deeds of retailers. Retailers will want customers to buy x3 of the amount they bought the product.. They use rent and tfare as excuse to purnish people.. Same retailers are the people saying government this and government that but they are worst when compared to government.. Op just ignore these ones defending thieves ( Retailers)

Retailers selling in street are the biggest thieves. Imagine selling a cup of rice for N500 if u multiply that by 200 that's 100k whereas same bag of rice is 75k a bag. Making wooping 25k for a bag. I just pity the masses who can't afford to buy in bulk and depend on this wicked retailers.

mokwechineme: You are right but the consumer protection agency can not every where. We as a citizen needs to help ourselves. There is no justification buy something N1000 selling it N2000. It's pure evil. No justification in that. It's purely a circle, the brother who collected $ from his uncles from abroad. He was happy exchanging it for N2000, same brother would cry wolf when he went to market and they sold a plaza TV of 32inc for him 400k 7 Likes 1 Share |

It's crazy out there, what shocked me yesterday, a small scale super market on my street sells 320g of miksi for 2500 while I got it at Marketqwuare for 1725 for same 320g. Is it that market square are getting theirs from Pluto while the others get theirs from Jupiter?
