Education without common sense is useless. Raising minimum wage is not the solution. The percentage of people working for the government are relatively few. What happens to the large populace? Cost of living will increase and the hardship increases. Set up industries. Produce most of the things we import. The value of naira will rise, price will drop, unemployment will reduce and life will become better. Why can't we produce common tricycle? Even mini buses? Our leaders are just lazy. They are just s and not productive. 2 Likes |

Jogs1900: Are you aware of the inflation that has currently turned the current minimum wage to nothing? There have to be adjustments. A bag of rice is twice the minimum wage now and this wasn't so in 2018. Not to talk of increases in school fees, house rent, medications and other factors that contribute to living. Government will struggle to pay but as usual they will meet at some point that can alleviate the sufferings of the Nigerian worker |

I tell you, what the government will aim, will be to peg minimum wage at a value between 50 and 70 thousand Naira. This I have seen and I'm sure labour will drag back and forth but at the end of the day accept that amount.

Jogs1900: Money is already devalued and the workers are feeling it. How much do you buy a dollar before May 29 last year and how much is it now either black market or government I & E rate? Compared to 2018 when the last wage was negotiated? |

Those attacking the NLC president and saying the amount is unrealistic should take a chill pill! Would you go into a negotiation from a losing position? That was the mistake former NLC president ayuba wabba made when he proposed a 55k minimum wage and at the end it went down to 30k! If NLC presents a 100k,the FG may likely propose half of it which won't be enough! Let the starting amount start from a huge figure so that the eventual amount after negotiation will be atleast 90-120k! 5 Likes 1 Share |

Nonsensical and rubbish! Can the NLC pay their own Staff that much, assuming they have business they run, privately, without the business running down? Why can't we do something reasonable? So, even when some of you absent yourself from Office, you still collect Salary? 1 Like |

Jogs1900:Your point is valid, quite valid and tenable but you and I know that the talks of 200k being doled out as the minimum wage look like a pipe dream fit for soakaway at best. And to the first to comment moniker up there, any salary (perks, allowances inclusive) being paid to the public officers, be it elective or appointed should reflect the current economic realities on ground and not the other way round. We can't be feeding a selected few with flesh while the rest keeps fighting over bones. 1 Like |

Patriotic9ja: Even revaluation won't work going by his analysis in this argument, because the civil servants salary too, would be revalued. So, the purchasing power of civil servants will still weak and poor. |

200k but based on work/hour. All those civil servants that just seat down doing nothing will wake up once they realize it's no work no pay.
