Hello house good morning, I will like to ask a question, can the money meant for proof of funds be in form of fixed deposit?

dehiero: I don't think everything is on pause. Even if it's on pause, it is on pause for applications done on December 1st upwards and not for applications submitted before December 1st. 2 Likes |

mikky099: Very good! They cannot just pause study permit applications like that. |
dehiero: 2:20pm On Dec 07, 2023 |
adinnu4:when I say pause they’re waiting for confirmation from school as from dec 1 visas cannot be issued till Schools confirm LOA wether you applied before dec 1 or not as long as your visa is issued after dec 1 loa must be certified |

Certainly, when applying for a spouse or common-law partner open work permit (SOWP), it's important to provide a comprehensive set of documents that demonstrate financial independence, strong ties to the home country, and assets. List of documents: 1. Financial Documents: Bank Statements, Proof of Income (If the spouse is employed, provide employment verification, pay stubs, and an employment letter), Affidavit of 2. Home Ties and Assets Documents: property ownership (if applicable, provide documents or do a gift deed); lease/rental agreements (if applicable, provide documents or do power of attorney); family ties; employment ties. Yes, it can be in the form of a fixed deposit, but you must convince the visa officer that the money will be liquidated before the commencement of your program. I will recommend you use a savings and a fixed deposit as a backup. Using a savings as the primary source of funds provides the advantage of liquidity, which means the funds are easily accessible. This aligns well with the expectation that you can cover your tuition fees, living expenses, and other associated costs promptly. A fixed deposit can serve as a supplementary or backup source, offering additional assurance to the visa officer. However, it's crucial to emphasize, as mentioned, that you have a clear plan for liquidating the fixed deposit before the commencement of your program. This can be addressed in your Statement of Purpose (SOP) or letter of explanation. Manlikethomas: |

You will still have to use it if it's a must for you to submit your port bio data but be honest with the school that you are processing another one already . They should allow you . Why not start the process for the new port right away ? Email your school issions counselor and explain to him or her . Best wishes 🙏 |

lastbornop: Hi, you have to a good explanation of how you raised the money with documentary evidence, the amount is not the only thing to be considered. If you have in your spouse's , then you have to show how your spouse made the money. 1 Like |

UPDATE!!!!! Starting January 1, 2024, the cost-of-living financial requirement for study permit applicants will be raised to ensure that international students are better prepared for life in Canada. This threshold will be adjusted each year, similarly to other immigration programs. Learn more: canada.ca/en/immigration… For 2024, a single applicant will need to show they have $20,635 in addition to their first year of tuition and travel costs. This change will apply to new study permit applications received on or after January 1, 2024. In addition, Minister Miller has provided an update on three temporary policies that were set to expire at the end of 2023, including the following: · International students already in Canada, as well as applicants who have already submitted an application for a study permit as of December 7, 2023, will be able to work off-campus for more than 20 hours per week until April 30, 2024. · The measure that has allowed international students to count time spent studying online towards the length of a future post-graduation work permit, as long as it constitutes less than 50% of the program of study, will continue to be in place for students who begin a study program before September 1, 2024. · A temporary policy was introduced on three occasions to provide an additional 18-month work permit to post-graduation work permit holders as their initial work permit was expiring. Foreign nationals with a post-graduation work permit expiring up to December 31, 2023, remain eligible to apply. However, this temporary policy will not be extended further. While tuition fees has been increased by some universities in Canada... |
