Devdevdev: You throw suggestions that I am a "thirsty guy" and you don't expect feathers to be ruffled? Throw eggs at my house and not only will I burn yours down, I will dig up the foundation. "Ashawö Kobo Kobo" 18 Likes |

airsaylongcome: If I call a rich man a poor man, he won't take me seriously because he knows he isn't poor. He will simply smile and ignore. Same applies to calling you a thirsty guy. Besides, 4 out of every 5 guys I meet are thirsty, so it's not wrong to assume you to be one. 7 Likes |

Devdevdev: Don't judge by popularity. If you go on blog rocket, it's like virtually every tutor dia is a Nigerian. Most of the English coding blogs/websites are filled with Nigerians teaching coding. On YouTube and co, Nigerians are dia, but I feel dia algo does not favor Nigerians. As for dia names I can't mention much.. I know ebenizer Don and uncle Baye of Bj dey try... 1 Like |

OP your negativity concerning Nigerians is worrisome and some of your comments get as e be. Also deleting Twitter? Hmm... I doubt your claims about zero educational material out there by Nigerians unless you are looking for ones to get for free, which you will not find easily but in of writing, there are educational articles littered about on the web written by Nigerians but it depends on what you are looking for and how popular the language is. After all, I learnt how IIFE works (did not know about design patterns then) from reading a few articles on medium written by Nigerians but if you meant those who turned into a full-time gig, if you see any, will you patronize them and pay for it? If you cannot or use the "but i know where i can get what they teaching for free", you creating this thread is pointless. 5 Likes |

Devdevdev: I Know a few of them, Ebenezer don is one https://m.youtube.com/c/EbenezerDon Nigerians write more blog posts and books than they make videos on coding. I have a book that is really comprehensive but easy to understand written by a Nigerian. it is a book on Git and GitHub. 6 Likes |

Lol. But based on your own write-up a programmer should be too busy to indulge in social media. I still partially agree that the hard work to learn the skill pushes most people away but that doesn't mean there aren't people doing well but aren't showing off or doing tutorials. Learning never ends in programming, especially when you're financially motivated to do so. ![]() 2 Likes |

airsaylongcome: Sir, I believe you are a well respected member of the community and also a professional. You should better understand social media issues (cyberbullying, trolls, etc) and how to deal with such. I don't expect you to go to such lows in your use of words. When your feet slips you can always recover your balance but when your tongues slips you can never recover your words. I may be wrong but I believe you don't do such physically. Devdevdev: It may be better for you to have deleted your Nairaland and leave your FB and twitter s. When I was unserious that was what I did. I deleted my Nairaland and focused on other things. If you feel there are no Nigerians on YT, that should be an opportunity for you to breakthrough. See it as an good opportunity. Please it's not just your technical skills that gives you jobs, your soft skills are also very important. My soft skills have given me more opportunities than my technical abilities. So get books on developing soft skills as you are also developing your programming skills. 6 Likes |

qtguru: Yes bro, only his accent gives him away, one would think he's based abroad. |
airsaylongcome: 5:21pm On Nov 15, 2022 |
Anonime1105: I actually prefer to listen to Nigerian and other African accents. Yes American accents are all the rave, but a Nigerian accent mentally suggests to me that the speaker feels our pains, knows our challenges and can relate with the very peculiar challenges we face. qtguru, do you do (or know anyone that does) Data scrapping? I want to scrape the INEC voters website for all voters for some personal project. I've been attempting to scrape it with Microsoft Power Automate Desktop but the process hasn't been very efficient. I'm having to use For loops that is taking forever to scrape just 176k polling units let alone scraping millions of voters |

airsaylongcome: Yes but it's mostly in Java/Code sadly let me update this thread with GUI Web Scrapper. but if you send me the link let me see if I can do it in Chrome Extension. A 1 million might be much for JS, |

This is not true and very condescending to hardworking Tech Nigerian guys. Stop talking out of excitement and self-motivation. You are just in your lane.

For someone who started coding in September you talk to much. Nigerians teach coding online be it on Twitter or YouTube. There's a guy that teaches CSS with pidgin I think his name is @doubletank or so. Agba Akin has been teaching coding since last year on Twitter. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Devdevdev: God bless you for this post. God bless you for saying the truth. 100% correct. I don't usually reply posts or post on threads, but I've decided to reply you because you're saying the plain truth that most people don't like to hear. Most of them are lazy, rude, irresponsible, empty headed, ignorant, bad mouthed, with bad characters, very mannerless people and what have you. Most of them have been spoilt by the make-believe and fake videos of hip hop musicians, home videos and other fake people. That's why Buhari said they are lazy. If you are looking for the worst human beings with bad characters and bad manners, just come to Nigeria you will have enough of them to satisfy your quest. The good people with good manners in Nigeria are very very few, less than 30% of the entire Nigerian population. Nigeria has been polluted by fake lifestyle and fake movies and fake musical videos by evil people. I salute the good Nigerians out there and the hard working Nigerians out there that are making Nigeria proud in their various professions. It is well with Nigeria. 5 Likes |

Nor vex, forgive am. Please let me appreciate you for your observation but let me remind you that interests are diverse and those who can't code can either do other things on social media like appreciating/displaying whatever they feel would interest a larger audience. And the funny thing is that this attracts more likes. So, my dear, if your have fine boobs or figure and you feel like sharing online, please yourself. Devdevdev: 2 Likes |

Not happy with the conclusion that Nigerians are lazy. We really aren't and we mustn't all be programmers. I agree with the op on the numbers of hours that must be invested to learn programming. Personally, I put in an average of 8 hours everyday. I am also terribly concerned that there isn't any group or contribution to the social space on programming from this part of the world. But then again, I guess baby steps. |

This guy gets it. When I say millionaire no dey Nairaland, broke boys quickly attack. They know it’s true. If a way to make money is real, Nigerians will shield the knowledge from the public. They will enrich their family and make sure the scheme follows the select few to the grave. Only scams are widely promoted since they mean cheating the next person or putting him/her in trouble. 5 Likes |
