The thing is, it's not about drainage system sha. All these floodings are not as a result of rain that fell in those states. While it is good and commendable that the state government has good drainage system, it still won't stop these waters if Akwa Ibom was to be along thr river Niger or the waters flow directly to the state.

This is a major issue the federal government has to look into as soon as possible.

The lagdo dam water will flow to lokoja, lokoja. Dont forget lokoja is confluence point where Niger river and Benue river meet. From lokoja it will over flow to Niger river where it will follow bayelsa to the Atlantic ocean.

Have you considered the altitude/ and how many metres above sea levels those areas are in comparison with the east?
A lot of factors come into play here and not just a matter of being landlocked.

It has everything to do with improper town planning, especially when it's happening in the East. Eastern Nigeria has nothing to do with flood this much. Look at Delta State, the areas mostly affected by the overflow of river Niger are used for farming and not for habitation.
Unless the excessive overflow of the river basin as it is currently. Isn't South East landlocked on norms?

Anam and some other communities in Anambra are very close to the river due to lack of land.Even some parts of delta state too is facing this flood issue.The best thing as individual is not to build or leave close to the river bank.Government no send you, because we done supposed get more dams since after the 2012 flood.

That flood is not caused by rain or natural circumstances it is caused by an artificial and man-made dam which was released to prevent the dam from being overloaded beyond its capacity.

I repeat thst is not rain only a tsunami or hurricane can do such which we don't experience here bt Intel has shown its a dam the was opened.
