His father is Fulani but Buhari does not understand Fulfude (unlike Atiku, for instance). Buhari grew up with his mother's family who are Kanuris. Also, Buhari is the middle name not the surname.

Country borders are not respected in the North unlike Yorubas who try to distinguish themselves from Eguns (even though some Eguns are Nigerians).

I am not sure what erudite Farooq Kperogi wants accomplish with this write-up. Whether he answers Bukhari or Buhari is not so important. Whatever he chose to answer is his business. In fact most Northerners proudly answer the name of their villages.
